Spiral Sliced Double Smoked Ham on The Pellet Grill
Ham is a staple around the holidays and is one of my favorites. This recipe shows you how to take an ordinary ham and turn it into something incredible.
**What You Need**
- 1 Spiral Sliced Ham
- Your Favorite Glaze or honey (I used Kosmo's Q Peach Jalapeno)
- Your Favorite Rub (Mississippi Grind)
This is one of the easiest recipes to do out on the smoker. The ham comes pre-cooked and smoked. All we are doing is basically reheating the ham out on the smoker to add a little more flavor.
The first thing we need to do is get the ham out of the package and pat it dry. The ham already has a great color but we are going to make it even better. To make sure the rub stick, I drizzled a little of our
kosmosq.com/pe... and rubbed it all over. You can use honey or any type of glaze, you just want something sticky. We then applied a good coat of our "Mississippi Grind" BBQ Rub. You can use any rub you would like. This is just for a little color and savory flavor to go with the glaze.
For this cook we are cooking on our store.grillagr... pellet grill. We filled the hopper up with bearmountainbb... Sweet Pellets and set the grill to 275. You can cook this recipe on any pit, just maintain a clean fire at 275.
Once the pit comes up to 275, it's time to get the ham on and take it to a 140 degree internal temperature. A ham is a very dense cut of meat and take longer to cook that you would think. We checked on it at 2 1/2 hours but still had a good ways to go.
At the 3 1/2 hour mark, the ham finally creeped up on 140 degrees internal. Now its time to get the glaze on. Again you can use any glaze you would like. We poured the Kosmo's Rib Glaze over the ham and brushed it in. We only put the ham back on for about 30 minutes. You only want it on the pit long enough to set the glaze. Once it's set, it's time to get the ham off the pit and on to the cutting board!
There is a ton of things to do with a perfectly smoke ham. Since it is fully cooked and spiral sliced, it is super easy to cut and break down to serve. This ham had a ton of great flavor and is sure to be a family favorite! Make sure to save the bone for soups and beans!!!
Give this one a try and let us know what you think!

Yeah, you can ham me some a dat. Got some kosmos glaze in the fridge and I now know just where to put it.
Haha!!
I like your cooking site and your style of BBQing! My question is ... can you really tell a difference in the pellets you use? I’ve been using a Camp Chef with 3 or 4 different pellets and I’m not sure I can tell the difference between Hickory and Apple?
Appreciate it! With a quality pellet you should be able to tell a little difference. Maybe not as much between fruit woods but definitely should be able to tell the difference between fruit and hardwood.
How do you like the Siverback Alpha? Is it as tough and good as the makers say? I was thinking of buying one
Love it! Trust me.. We have hauled ours all over the county with zero issues and their customer service is best in the business!
Anywhere in the jackson ms area to get that Mississippi grind? That ham looks awesome.
Grills of Mississippi carries our product. Appreciate it.
Kroger carries it also
@@SwineLifeBBQ I'm in Madison i will be getting some soon! Keep up the great work Mark ! Happy Easter everyone !
Lol he did a great job but he didn't say Mississippi. He said Missippi. Lol
If I don’t have that honey rub you used what would be a good substitute?
Any sweet rub will work well!
This is perfect. I'm definitely making it on my grill this Christmas. Is the glaze more sweet than spicy? How long does shipping takes? I think I wanna try that rub
Thanks! The glaze is sweet and finishes with a little heat. Check out Howtobbqright.com to order. We are currently out of stock on our site. Shipping is fast!
@@SwineLifeBBQ do you know when you'll restock?
Hopefully next week.
Awesome stuff.
....... `` you wish Honey Baked could do it this good´´´...........
That's a fact! LOL
Could you use honey instead of the rib glaze?
Sure can!
Hey buddy, I see alot of bottom round roast in the supermarket left over no one buys it, with the covid-19 everyone buying all the good meats...can you smoke a bottom round roast?? Thanks.
Sure can! I will see if I can get my hands on one. I would treat it just like a brisket or possible short ribs with a good reduction.
For some reason every time I double smoke a spiral ham, the bottom third of mine is dried out. My smoker is a pit boss pellet and I use a thermoworks chef alarm. I run the pellet grill around 250 to 275. I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong.
I have had the same thing happen before on some other cooks. You can place them on a cooling rack in a half pan to shield the bottom portions and it seems to help. Basically the same setup I used during the glaze process. That should make a big difference.
Swine Life BBQ thanks for the help, I’ll try that.
how many lbs is that and how many ppl could that serve?
12-15 I would guess

What flavor of rib glaze did you use
Peach habanero
How come it doesn't come out dry? Everytime I make ham it comes out dry no matter what. I don't know how smoking it doesn't make it dry.
I think a lot of it as to do with the cooking temp. 275 seems to be ideal. Also the quality of the ham makes a huge difference. Also pulling it off the pit as soon as it hits 140 makes a difference.
This is just a commercial. Rediculous.
Thanks for watching!! Glad you liked it!
