There is a religious connotation to the word anointed, and that's why he chose to use it. He isn't saying the elites are chosen by God, he's saying they believe themselves to be infallible as if they were gods. That's why facts and arguments will never make them change their mind, they are already correct by their own definition.

My god…I had no idea this had been brewing for so long, and Sowell saw the writing on the wall all the way back in 95’ 🤯 I’m sitting here just stunned. As for the term “the anointed,” I think he meant it not literally but to describe how these people (whom we now refer to as “woke”) see themselves as the Chosen Ones whose world view is the correct one and who are determined to “save” the planet with their actions. You can brother, most of his genius is just from looking at everything with common sense and logic and in putting every puzzle piece together. He misses nothing and just breaks it down simply to the very core of the issues. He just does it better than nearly anyone else could dream of. Jordon Peterson, Larry Elder and a few others can do this too.
All it really takes is research. He knows so much because he wants to learn the truth, and has dedicated his life towards that end. I know what you mean though. Learning is just a part of it. Remembering and recalling those facts and being able to articulate them so wonderfully, is not something most of us can do. He is special in that regard.
Watch his inl terviews. It's more than "research", experiencd, and "knowledge " it's also the an ability to synthesize allowing him to provide answers to uncommon questions. All the research in the world won't allow you to reach the conclusions that Sowell has. 40 plus years ago I'd go to book stores and browse his books. Some were loaded with pages of data and tables. No way could I retain all that data. He has written over 30 books. No way could I do that.

I finally did enough of "this" type of searching for UA-cam's algorithm to realise i needed to this man's voice in my thinking. Sounds wierd, but when I think about Dr. Sowell passing away I start to panic. His level of intellect, courage, and ability to stay incorruptible after 50+ years is impossible to replace. When men like him pass away, there is no one to fill his shoes … we’re talking about people like Tesla and Marconi and men of such stature. They leave a vacuum for hundreds of years. I fear for us when he has gone.

Thank you all for sharing your reactions to Thomas Sowell. He is my favorite living philosopher and one of the wisest men I have ever heard/read in my life. All of his books are awesome. I generally read them via audiobooks, and they are all very listenable. His autobiography and origin story, A PERSONAL ODYSSEY is mind-blowing. He basically did the same kind of journey, you all doing now (and I guess we all do to some extent), and discovered so much. He grew up with no privilege and amidst some of the worst racist culture in the history of the US, including some time in the Jim Crow South. And still, he found the principles which formed his life and his work. And his books on economics (that’s his chosen field: he’s an economist and was an economics professor), are surprisingly understandable, even for an imbecile like me - at least when it comes to economics.
A Personal Odyssey is a good read. But then so many of his books are. Ethnic America is the last one I read, quite recently. But I’d also read his Culture Trilogy years ago.

You can brother, most of his genius is just from looking at everything with common sense and logic and in putting every puzzle piece together. He misses nothing and just breaks it down simply to the very core of the issues. He just does it better than nearly anyone else could dream of. Jordon Peterson, Larry Elder and a few others can do this too.

All it really takes is research. He knows so much because he wants to learn the truth, and has dedicated his life towards that end. I know what you mean though. Learning is just a part of it. Remembering and recalling those facts and being able to articulate them so wonderfully, is not something most of us can do. He is special in that regard.

terviews. It's more than "research", experiencd, and "knowledge " it's also the an ability to synthesize allowing him to provide answers to uncommon questions. All the research in the world won't allow you to reach the conclusions that Sowell has. 40 plus years ago I'd go to book stores and browse his books. Some were loaded with pages of data and tables. No way could I retain all that data. He has written over 30 books.

It was yesterday January 20, 2024 that I learned of the name Thomas Sowell. I finally did enough of "this" type of searching for UA-cam's algorithm to realise i needed to this man's voice in my thinking.

I wish more people here would have listened to him before it got to this. My dad used to read and listen to Dr. Sowell when I was a kid. I've heard him all my life and I'm grateful for it.

Sounds wierd, but when I think about Dr. Sowell passing away I start to panic. His level of intellect, courage, and ability to stay incorruptible after 50+ years is impossible to replace.
When men like him pass away, there is no one to fill his shoes … we’re talking about people like Tesla and Marconi and men of such stature. They leave a vacuum for hundreds of years. I fear for us when he has gone.

@@The_0G_ChadHe's 92, I don't think it'd be good for him to travel for a podcast that takes up a full day. The last one he did a few years ago was in the Hoover institute so he didn't have to travel and was kept pretty short.

These people feel they are more intelligent than others, therefore we all should be following their points of view. CS Lewis has a quote that describes these people perfectly.... "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."
Confusion and fear is their weapon as it can keep our eyes looking one way whilst we miss things that they don't want us to see or hear. Guard your children as they are the future.

I love what you guys are doing. The deep diving, critical thinking and idea sharing are what they used to preach to us in school 20 years ago. Not anymore. I loved reading Thomas Sowell editorials in the news paper. The first time I read one, I was blown away. He makes so much sense. I consider him to be one of the most brilliant minds of the 20th and 21 centuries. I wish I could remember what I read but I can still remember how I felt.

its incredible how relevant that was over 20 years later(especially when he talked about the media) . the fact that Dr Sowell has been basically hidden away for decades is a crime.
Thank you all for sharing your reactions to Thomas Sowell. He is my favorite living philosopher and one of the wisest men I have ever heard/read in my life. All of his books are awesome. I generally read them via audiobooks, and they are all very listenable. His autobiography and origin story, A PERSONAL ODYSSEY is mind-blowing. He basically did the same kind of journey, you all doing now (and I guess we all do to some extent), and discovered so much. He grew up with no privilege and amidst some of the worst racist culture in the history of the US, including some time in the Jim Crow South. And still, he found the principles which formed his life and his work. And his books on economics (that’s his chosen field: he’s an economist and was an economics professor), are surprisingly understandable, even for an imbecile like me - at least when it comes to economics.
A Personal Odyssey is a good read. But then so many of his books are. Ethnic America is the last one I read, quite recently. But I’d also read his Culture Trilogy years ago.
