Making meaning out of nothing is probably the most underrated talent of all rollerbladers. Big shout out to making meaning out of nothing, to Michael Kraft, to Wheel Scene and to rollerblading.
its so hard to choose, as someone who just got my first pair of blades in 2024 and has been addicted to watching so many edits, it seems as if all these dudes are just on fire and killing it in their own ways. really tough to say with confidence that so-and-so has more talent than the next guy, because everyone is skating at an insane level and has had parts in edits where i clapped, or shouted, or had to rewatch it 3-4 times to understand what happened. its crazy, i actually discovered aggressive inline back when youtube came around and i was seeing old videos uploaded. really wanted to get into it then but remember not being able to find many skates for sale, i guess at the time the sport wasnt so lucrative. but it seems to have hit such a huge resurgence and im glad its found its way to me again. so anyone who is still out there, pro or not, and keeping this sport alive, especially anyone who throws up edits, thank you for this. shoutout Jo Zenk and Michael Müller as well, those dudes are loads of fun to watch.
Welcome to rollerblading 🖤 best community! Like a family more :D ich skate since 2003 so I knew much years but some breaks. Blading is very healthy right now. It was very far if I can say it back in the days. For me they are all idols and hero's. If you write me at early 2000s and tell me that you can write with pros I can't believe t 😅🎉🎉🎉
I cant vote Cudot because of the skinny jeans, amazing skills but normo style. For me it's either Cameron, Levi or Sean Kelso. I think style is essential.
I'm with Eugin and Bobi. It's hard to deny how good Cudot did on the competition circuit and his massive street parts. I feel like he's gotten so good that people are numb to it now. But mostly, I wish we either had more publications awarding it, or at least having one publication with some kind of objective criteria for it that isn't just popularity.
In terms of most achievements, no one is close to Cudot. He won the most international competitions and put out four street parts this year - two for Cymatics, one for Cougar and his VOD section in Homage. He also won four events in one weekend at FISE and won both World Skate Series events. However, it could be argued that achievements don't equal influence and it depends how much importance you place on competition results.
Skating is and always has been all about style…. SK completely mastered every trick the others are doing, 20 years ago 😮…… he’s spent that 20 years cleaning it all up to a level that no one has ever seen
He has a lot of style, I agree, but he doesn't have a lot of diversity. His last three sections have been almost exclusively grinds, apart from one straight gap in his most recent section. Also, every trick has been on his left foot and many of them are simply variations of the same switch-up. He is the master of what he does, but what he does isn't very diverse or creative.
@ good points…. It’s hard to say objectively who is the skater of the year because style is so subjective… my mental exercise about rollerblading style; the only tricks I can remember from hoax 2 is Jon Julio’s because of his style… Objectively I know how important style is because at any given session, I’m usually one of the best skaters but no one cares because my style is so boring 🙃😅 I’m voting for SK but DAMN Cudot really outdid himself this year 🤔
@@flyingonblades agreed, Cudot probably put in the most work this year, but as a community we tend to mark people down for trying hard. For some reason, it’s seen as a negative rather than a mark of dedication.
@ oh yea that’s a big problem in general… in school(at least small town USA) you’ll get roasted for paying attention or doing your school work 💀 If there was a was to definitively “win” rollerblading(like finish line in an in-line speed race), Cudot would take the gold !
Billy is stuck in the past with street skating. Skating abilities are no longer measured by hammers in a street scene. Prails actually exposes how good a skater is in a number of different ways.
@@wheelsceneblading I think he had this badly wrong. PRAILS and park skating are very popular nowadays for many different reasons. They can only get more popular..street skating is not coming back like it was. As a brand owner he really should understand that and embrace it
Cudot got no style.....he flipped around those parks to win, he cant street skate for shit - Montre's Smoke section should have been mentioned. Best section of the year.
Cudot's style has improved a lot. His Cymatics and Cougar sections this year were pretty clean. Montre's section never got mentioned because it arrived so late. It's also a remix of his pro skate promo from earlier in the year. There needs to be a cut off, you can't have people dropping sections right up to December 31 because it leaves no time to compare everything.
Man, shout out that ratty guy from the Backstreet Boys--I sincerely hope he's still getting paid off that song. Also "Cool USA Guy" would be a great title for a video/edit
This is awful in my opinion. I think I heard jeff dalnas' name once or twice. He had an amazing year and I think he is the skater of the year no doubt. But to see no one even think he's in the running... yall are ridiculous... cudot and talbot would be my other considerations. But Sean Kelso will probably get the recognition cause he can spin on rails with one foot.. dalnas or cudot cause he got robbed last year.. rant over I love you all. Micheal, that was beautiful ❤
He's in the final 3 for one blading mag and had a lot of heat on their posts. He skated amazingly and stylishly all year and killed comps. Only thing that holds him back is not doing a full part, but Insta reels have more reach whether we like it or not.
