"anyone can easily do a front flip on blades" is a wild wild take to have. Even just "front flip is the same as a back flip" is a pretty wild take. Glad "all tricks are legal" won tho.
@@TomMoyse Well you said it was interchangeable with a backflip, and said its "so easily accessible. like anybody can do it." so I paraphrased. IDK most tricks to me feel more easily accessible than flips or shitloads of spins.
@ interchangeable in terms of it being an illegal trick. I’ve seen people who have barely skated, turn up at skate parks borrows people skates and send front flips out of quarter pipes. You can watch tutorials of people learning backflips from scratch. The main point is it’s not a rollerblading centric trick
For me, having Kelso win it over Cudot is a bad outcome for blading . Kelso - Sick street edits. - That Unity / Fish transfer thing Cudot - Sick street edits - Destroyed the competition scene. And isn't "getting paid" the theme of these awards. I think getting money in place is a good step in these awards. I'd like to see some more concrete criteria, like the ones above, that inform the outcome and less weight put on who's the most popular in the community.
I disagree. I explained why in the video, but happy to chat about it. First of all i think discourse around who is SOTY is healthy for rollerblading. 87% of people believe video parts are the most important part of SOTY, 10% picked competitions 3% social media. Traveling the world doesn't make you skater of the year, it's make you a good ambassador. Sean went to NY and then three cities in 3 weekends in the last edit, if you want his travel details. Your perception on why Julien skates for Cougar has nothing to do with skater of the year and holds no weight in the conversation. If you consider that you also have to consider that Sean chose to skate for one of the most important core rollerblading brands that do more for the culture the any other brands. Him chosing to align with them shows he care more about the industry. How much merchandise did Julien create this year? How many other parts did he film for people. I'm just bringing up these thing to try and match what you seem to be doing. You said it was bad for blading Sean Kelso winning but didn't explain why it was bad?
@@TomMoyse For me, the #1 priority for blading is to stay healthy as a sport, and in an ideal world grow.
