    I’ve been driving this game since 93 , that’s 26 years and I still learn every day. This A,B,c,d crap is the dumbest thing I’ve heard of. My suggestion to the new drivers is.
    A- know how to use a stick
    B-learn how to back up from various different angles.
    C- if your trainer has less than 5 years experience then your working at the wrong place.
    D- stay away from the mega carriers because they don’t care about you and will blame you for everything that may go wrong on your journey and take your money every chance they get.
    Good luck youngsters and If I run into you at the truck stop I’ll buy breakfast 🥞

      I thought it was hard living with a stranger. I asked for extra training. A lot of people do. Their training program doesn't have a lot of structure. Both trainers weren't really horrible but i had to take the information from both and piece together something for myself. I wish i could go out with three more people because without structure people have different types of focus and I'm still learning as I go.

      If training is done right, you shouldn't nees more than 2 weeks. If you cant figure this out in 2 weeks you have no business being out here.
      I was on my trainers truck for 2 weeks. He was a trainer and not a team driver. Every minute I was behind the wheel, he was in the passenger seat.
      30 years and 3 million miles later Im still going strong.

    • @demetriusdavis95
      @demetriusdavis95 5 років тому +10

      caserri most people never have even driven a box truck what makes you think they can drive a semi in 2 weeks and feel comfortable. Oh I forgot most of y’all now a days learn in an automatic so all y’all literally do is drive the truck. Also let’s not forget about mountain driving which isn’t hard but if you don’t get to do it within your little “2 weeks” it can be catastrophic and cause an accident. what about in those 2 weeks you only drive at night and never experience heavy traffic especially in hilly states. If you feel comfortable with being on the road with someone who has 2 weeks training ex then you’re crazy.

      I just talked to a recruiter today. If you have your cdl but no experience in the last 45 days you have to be evaluated on everything, just like when you passed the test at dmv. If they chose you need more training they can make you sign a 1 yr contract and charge you for the additional training. What i don't get, is you'd be in training for 60,000 miles. like that's not enough? It just seems like another way for them to lock you into a contract.

      The trainer is supposed to bring the passenger seat the first week, the student drives in the daytime, the second week he can nite drive, you strengthen the students backing at every available chance. I wouldn't team drive until I was confident the student could control the vehicle. 30 days, if a student hasn't gotten the concept in that time period, I agree it may not be for him. As a matter of fact it is just reinforcement of the maneuvers learn in school. If the schooltaught them anything

      They need structure. I have heard from many drivers that driving a truck is an art. Of course it's an art. Art has structure and science and methodology. They need to have a program for trainers to follow. I KNOW people THINK everyone learns different but if you can't develop proficiency with a lot of rules, NOT the career for you. All trucking is rules, rules, rules. So why is training an art when driving is really just following a bunch of rules?

    There are issues with this company. My son was told he could "upgrade" to his own (company) truck after 50,000 miles. His trainer is a leasee. Well, my son has 99,800 miles, has sent emails to his fleet manager and dispatcher, and they only tell him he is on the list, waited a few months and contacted dispatcher again and he said "I'll put you back on the list". Seriously? That was 40,000 miles ago!!! No one answers his email and no one answers the phone. The trainer he has takes too many days off, and my son sits in a damned hotel and does not get paid! He doesn't want to "rock the boat". The recruiter he had evidently lied, because there is no upgrade at 50,000 miles!

I went with a driver trainer straight out of school for 3 weeks 1 week hauling steel (its flatbed) and it was only local driving. they put me in a hotel for a month and i started out making roughly 1500$ a week fresh out of training, and thats only mon-fri, i take my truck home every weekend. Sometimes more sometimes less. My truck had 40,000 miles on it was practically brand new. I got pretty lucky I think. Been here 3 years and now im getting a brand new cascadia mid roof with leather, apu, inverter fridge everything. If you live in the GTA and youre interested message me ill give you some details! Man, I’m so glad I didn’t go to Prime. This is hella excessive. It should just be 2-4 weeks with a trainer and then you’re on your own in your own assigned truck, with the option to stay longer with the trainer if the student doesn’t feel that they’re ready to be on their own for whatever reason. None of this crap about specific amount of miles the truck has to run before being eligible to upgrade to your own assigned truck.
    I also think that all students should train in a manual transmission truck and not have an automatic restriction on their license, but that’s just my personal opinion that many will probably disagree with. Driving a manual truck makes you a more skillful, safe driver, imo. All I know I will only drive manuals. Automatics are too boring and makes you more complacent.

      JuanLeMod thats what i use to say but i dont get paid more or less for driving and automatic. Ill take an automatic in my work i drive in Santa monica Ca everyday. I started driving a manual and love it but traffic wise ill take a automatic. Keep trucking and i agree with you keep the new driver on a manual that way they get more in control and actually know how it feels shifting thru those gears up and down the grade then they will respect there fellow drivers. Prime teach your dirvers not to drive in the third lane in California and move over to the slow lane.

      michael young What do you mean they’re not making manual trucks anymore? Where’s your source? I can go out today and buy myself a brand new 2020 Peterbilt 389 with an 18-speed manual transmission today if I wanted to.
      Sure, a lot of big fleets are sadly buying automatics only, but there are still a few small companies who continue to purchase manuals only. Most manuals purchased today are by smaller fleets and individual owner-operators.

    • @mcrangelvlogs9396
      @mcrangelvlogs9396 5 років тому +2

      michael young michael young again saving fuel is a way of saving money thats why AUTOMATIC trucks are taking over. Nothing wrong with an automatic but you can and will always have that options to get a manual just like cars today. Like the other guy said you can get a new 389 10,13 and 18 speed off the assembly line. If you dont know how to drive stick we understand you man. They are obsolete for the people that car drive what a real truck is suppose to be driven to be in control going down the i-70 feeling that power thru the gears upshifting and downshifting dont forget the cramp ok your left leg while in traffic. Again i repeat michael i drive an automated now. I am not going to lie they are nice, but there is nothing like learning on a manual then the automated guys wont be shitting there panties when they have to test on a manual. In summary learning manual just opens more doors for a driver.

    Was wanting to know if I live in California you can’t get into the lease program is this true and why is it

    • @JuniorHonduras
      @JuniorHonduras  4 роки тому

      That is true that you cannot. There is something that is going as far as California and a law that they are trying to pass and I'm not too familiar with it. If you come you can only be a company driver. Click on the link below and make sure that you add Nikki Yost as the recruiter and myself as the referral (Driver Code: MATURO)

    So this TNT checklist, that is embedded in the video, is this part of the Prime, Inc training program or something that has to be printed up, by the student and given to the trainer.

    Teams are great if the other person is your spouse or "partner" as they call it these days! I'm only speaking for myself...after all the training and mentoring and driving with a trainer...I think a new driver should have the tools and skills necessary to grow... SOLO!!!

    does dispatch miles include deadhead miles?

  • @mortyjr2334
    @mortyjr2334 5 років тому +1

    Prime likes to keep you out for 3 weeks at a time, that's a huge deal breaker, you could easily go to another mega carrier and only be out for a week or 2 max. Also $600 as long as you're available for dispatch? So, you're telling me I have to be out 7 days a week to earn $600 in a week? You can get $600 - $700 a week at most of the other mega carriers only driving 5 days a week. Prime is really going down the crap shoot.
