The service provider totally ignored us.nobody addressed us . We needed to be in Beijing asap. Hence the need to purchase another ticket. Harare airport has poor service , sad but true. It’s not the first time for this kind of situation, a lot of passengers complain about delays at hre international airport
I had the same experience with Ethiopian airlines about ten years flying from London to Zimbabwe via South Africa. I had to buy a new ticket too and was never compensated. I have never flown Ethiopian airlines since and never will. They are scammers.
I blacklisted Ethiopian Airlines. On my way from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to Lusaka in Zambia, I was denied to board because of the transit visa in Addis Ababa. I slept at the airport, called my Vietnamese friends to help and they did come to pick me up the next day. I emailed their customer support and denied that the transit visa (12hrs) should have affected my flight. Anyway I had to borrow money from my brother to book a one-way flight at $1200. I'll never use Ethiopian Airline ever again.
I am really disappointed in their service, the non-refund policy is a scam, after hearing people's ordeals about this airline, I not going to use this ever, I've just blacklisted this airline.

Do you know that if airlines over book, they are meant to rebook you on another flight with compensation? I always get compensated. You should take it up with the airline
Ethiopian airlines are rubbish. I found that out ten years ago in circumstances almost exactly like yours. I have never been compensated nor were we given hotel vouchers etc. They are an appalling airline. There is a reason their tickets are comparatively cheap in the first instance, but as you found out it is a false economy. I have never flown them since and never will, and I am a frequent flyer. Ethiopian airlines are rubbish. I'm sorry for your dreadful experience. Thanks for outing them so more people can avoid that disastrous airline.
