Yes it's beautiful , Zimbabwe as a whole used to have one of the best infrastructure in Africa 25 years ago , before the economic crisis or sanction from the European union & America that crumble the economic of Zimbabwe

@@MosesMatsepane Majority would say things are a bit tough and they have been hoping for change over the years in vain. But am of the opposite opinion. Zim is great, the people are very educated and hardworking. I believe It's just a matter of time and the giant will roar.

I love Zim architectural designs. Did a presentation for my first year project on the Eastgate building passive cooling systems. From Canada
well yeah, i've always heard about that cooling system. how is it unique? live in Harare, passes thru the complex periodically but dont know hw it is unique.
@@obertnyamutsambira9826 The building was designed by Mick Pearce. It is the first building in the world to be cooled by natural means instead of using electrical air conditioning. The building is modelled after termite mounds, an example of biomimicry in architectural design.
Cold night air is circulated inside while warm air is pushed out through chimneys, creating a chilled climate inside the building. The protruding stone, covering the exterior not only protect the windows from the sun but also increase the external surface area of the building to improve heat loss to space at night and minimize heat gain by day.
Among other awards, Eastgate was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the International Council of Shopping Centres, New York- the first building in Africa to receive such an award.
There is so much information on the building that I could not capture here. Hoping to visit Zim soon and also visit Angwa City, another award winning building.

All the major roads in the city are named after African leaders like Samora Machel, Nelson Mandela, Julius Nyerere, Kenneth Kaunda, Kwame Nkrumah etc. Mugabe made his mistakes but one thing for sure he was pro African people and very much against the West sometimes to the detriment of our nation's health overall. We are still paying for it. The African is supposed to know his place and Mugabe and Zimbabwe paid a huge price for reclaiming our land. Make no mistake about it, implementation was haphazard and ridden with corruption but the majority of Zimbabweans were down with the overall stance that the land belongs to we the people

Zimbabwe is a beautiful country. The houses are gorgeous. Visit the villages in Plumtree you will see mansions. The Zimbabwean government is very strict when it comes to housing. They demolish substandard houses. If Zimbabweans unite which is a problem, I tell you Zimbabwe will regain its status as the bread basket of Africa.

I am impressed. What we hear is 'Zimbabwe is a very backward and life is bad'. The west paint Zimbabwe to be useless but from this video ZImbabwe is beautiful. I wish I could visit this beautiful country.
You know what, a lot of people believe the same because CNN, BBC told them so. I once visited a certain country in the Eastern part of the African continent (I wont mention the country by name here) and the people there told me how backward Zimbabwe was. There were my hosts so I couldn't tell them that their capital city was not even as organised and developed as our third city Gweru. They seemed to derive a lot of pleasure in their misinformed beliefs so I did want to spoil their joy. I told them when people are talking about how bad things had become in Zim, Zim was being measured by its higher standards of the 90's, and not compared to other countries. The level of development in Zim , I told them were still higher than those in most in other parts of the world, even when the situation was at its worst around 2008.

We are told here in the U.S. that Zimbabwe is a nation that has imploded financially speaking. It's nice to see that is not the case. Whatever you decide to show us from your travels in Zimbabwe is fine with me.

Its true... but one thing they do not realize is that Zimbabwe has had cushions... it shares a border with South Africa, which ultimately had to give up the visa policy against Zimbabweans because it ddnt make sense to clog their system with a neighboring coutry's applications. Also we have a big diaspora within the commonwealth of nations.
Being surrounded by economically stable countries makes it bearable to stay in Zim while trading/working across the region... e.g. A rough estimate says at least 40% of cross-boarder truck drivers in Southern Africa are Zimbabwean.
On infrastructure.... we were kinda ahead of many african countries around 2000, and most of it has been frozen in time and still looks good.
Lance 90% of its citizens are unemployed so please show some empathy towards the unfortunate

And majority of those sky scrappers were built during the Rhodesian era, so is the rest of the major infrastructure. Some just falling apart because of lack of proper maintenance

The other thing I liked about Zim is that they speak S.A national languages as well for example Xhosa, Sotho, Zulu (but they call it Ndebele in Zim), Tswana, Venda, Tsonga and English.
80%of South African languages are also spoken in Zim🇿🇦❤🇿🇼

Point of correction. We share some languages as opposed to speaking SA languages, remember the people were spread out over the region. Ndebele or specifically northern ndebele is as branch of zulu. Google mfecane if you want to know why
Thus because Zim Ndebele are Zulu by origin and you're part of the Zulu kingdom on the other side of the border
@@quintonkhumalo3239 Its not an extension of the zulu Kingdom per say. They didnt break out to form a zulu branch in Zimbabwe. Same origins, culture and traditions but different tribe due to changes that happened over time. It is over a hundred years ago
I understand what you're saying, but they are still Zulus because Mzilikazi was Zulu. It's just like the Zulu spoken in KZN and the one in Johannesburg it's also kinda of different because of Geographical areas and the fact that they have taken in Sotho and Pedi words because they are surrounded by those tribes , but at the end of the day they are Zulus. Same applies to Zim Ndebeles they are just Zulus because when they left KZN they were Zulus so they are still Zulus even now

In the 80s Zim was everything. I'm not even Zimbabwean but I lived there for 5 years as a child when my dad worked at the Uni of Zim. Zimbabwe was the breadbasket of Africa and I hope that one day Zimbabwe will return to what it used to be.

Spare us this ''bread basket of Africa'' white propaganda. Zimbabwe was NEVER a ''bread basket'' of East Africa, never mind 'Africa'. She mostly grew cash crops like tobacco and coffee for export and the proceeds were enjoyed by the minority white landowners. The black peasants were always hungry and poor, and there was no damn bread basket.

Well I was born in America although my dad's family originated from somewhere in Africa I just don't know where exactly I don't have enough information and I don't speak to my dad. I feel connected to the continent deep in my bones I feel it! When I do some more digging I'll find out the truth. Just because we were born in America doesn't mean we're comfortable or feel at home. Nice one. On my first visit to Harare I was so surprised to find such a beautiful modern city. It actually reminded me of Joburg the architecture especially in the city However the suburbs look like Kenyan suburbs Muthaiga Karen with very lush green and nice houses. The one thing that I also enjoyed was that Zimbabweans are also very highly educated and they have beautiful music from the popula unfortunately late Oliver Mtukudzi

Granted, Zim could be better than what it is, Zim used to have a much a higher standard of living (its actually a fact that Zim had hire standards in the 90's than countries like Portugal, Italy, Spain), but most of what you here is politics guys. I mean, think about it really, if Zim was so backward, how would it be possible that Zimbos can get good jobs in banking, engineering fields. Our economy has just been paralyzed by the "TARGETED RESTRICTIVE MEASURES" imposed by the USA and EU countries since 2003, making life tough and hence the great down South. Some lady in SA said to me "I heard Zimbabweans hunt for chickens in the bush coz there are no shops there". I didn't get offended at all but rather felt sorry at the level of a ignorance

More and more and more African inter-continental travel, no visa required. Just like Europe depends upon their own continental tourism and it's a huge business.

Something unique about Bantus, some family names you can see, hear them across Africa like 'Mbuya" it's a family name in one tribe, the Chagas, at the Northern part of Tanzania. You can hear Moyos in Zambia as well as in Tanzania, Okello in Kenya and Tanzania too etc

@@derrickmutuma7185 yes, there is a lot of tension between South Africans and Zimbabweans. I'm South African by the way. The tension is social and political. It won't be easy to understand when you are not a South African or a Zimbabweans but this kind of neighbour fights are common all over world. E. g. Ghana & Nigeria, India & Pakistan, China & South Korea etc. Such tensions exists but you need to go very deep to understand where the fights stem from.
At the same breath, South Africans and Zimbabweans are brothers and sisters more than they are enemies. This is what people rarely talk about on social media.
I see a lot of striking similarity between Harare and Nairobi, only that Harare seems to have low population.

You're right Harare is very similar to Nairobi. You guys have these trees with purple flowers in both cities which always reminds me of each other. I love that park. I used to spend several hours there when I last visited Harare. To me Harare is the most beautiful city I've visited in Africa
Yes, jacaranda trees are phenomenal. In Nairobi we call the blooming season the "Jacaranda Blues"

Harare is like a slightly smaller Nairobi..but very beautiful. The streets are spacious and clean. I would love to visit one day.
But our second city Bulawayo is actually the one that is more spacious.

I was in Zimbabwe in May 2019 and I can safely say that Zimbabwe is the most beautiful country in Africa. It looks very much western, clean, spacious and gorgeous.
