    • Customer States Wheel ...
    Credits:
    Each photo & video described.
These videos are meant to be educational but also funny, so if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!
    0:00 Intro
0:05 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 2WD. The transmission and engine mounts were damaged/worn, so the previous owner used chain and ratchet straps to keep everything in place + try and reduce vibrations. Good reason to always get an inspection before purchasing any vehicle.
0:16 Chevrolet Avalanche. The shop couldn't open the door without possibly damaging the door, so the customer did not get the door latch installed.
0:28 Shop told the customer to take it to the "mechanic" they bought the car from since the exhaust was hacked together. Otherwise, it would just need some new exhaust pipe and hangers welded then it would be fine.
0:43 Blown out rear shocks on a BMW E90. Shocks need to be replaced.
0:56 "That was a 5.0 Jaguar naturally aspirated on a 2013 XJ with a little over 110k miles / 177027 kilometers on it."
Oil was leaking from the backside of the valve cover. The silicone was cleaned off and valve cover gaskets were installed.
    1:12 No extra info.
1:24 Why it's always important to inspect u-joints + grease them every service. Also, they are fairly cheap to replace, so replace them when needed! The technician did not mention what the customer will be doing with the vehicle but that will be an expensive fix!
    1:42 No extra info.
1:54 "Drove over A rock on an interstate in PA. The customer's insurance covered the damage." They didn't mention the model Cadillac it was.
2:09 "Feedback from the blower to the right-hand tweeter. 2018 Hyundai Tucson with 7 miles/12 kilometres, that a car rental place just bought."
2:24 The mechanic said it didn't have the oil cap, and 3 spark plug wires were cut and tapped on the end. He also drained the engine oil and there was a lot of fuel in it so he believes the customer was driving around for a while with his engine running very rough.
2:35 Shop refused to install the tires, as they told the customer it was not safe and they don't want to be liable for anything.
2:44 "Customer was told not to drive it and he drove away with it."
Outer tie rod ends were duct-taped, missing lug nuts, the radiator support was broken, rear strut mounts were broken and spray foamed together, rusty undercarriage, rear trailing arm mounts chained to the mount, and a whole lot more.
3:08 2010 Subaru Impreza, rusted out sub-frame where lower control arms bolts to it.
3:16 "BAE Systems Caiman MRAP law enforcement conversion that I personally unfitted with emergency equipment for my employer."
    3:25 Outro. Thanks for watching!

Once we had an Astrovan that had it's idler arm attached to the frame with some thin sheet metal and some small self tapping screws, and they were wondering why it was all over the road. I have a few cars that I had over 5 to 10 years each. The key thing was regular maintenance. Oil changes, transmission fluid change, rotation of ties, aliments. I did a lot DIY have a run into these issues. I would catch things like ball joints, control arm bushings and engine mounts before they would become a problem. Not everyone can do DIYs I understand, but spending a few 100 dollars in regular maintenance at an autoshop can save thousands. One simple thing, if you live in the rustbelt, wash your car regularly. Just doing that can keep you from driving a rusted frame deathtrap.

Seeing the first segment of your video reminded me of this time I had a 97 Chevrolet 1500 Z71 package truck show up at the shop, it was 2003 and the manual transmission was chained up and was secondary secured by ratchet straps since the tranny mount bolts were snapped off this was the real men of genius idea they could muster up. Nevertheless I was successful in extracting the broken bolts and cut the welds off of the chain, and had to cut the ratchet strap since the ratchet was perma rusted together. I'm betting the kid done a 6 grand dump on the clutch to break the bolts. The case was surprisingly not cracked anywhere too since I had plenty of time to inspect it. Still have this memory burnt into my head after almost it being 20 years removed.

The owners of such cars would rather cheap out and do a questionable repair themselves, putting themselves and everybody in danger, just to save a few $$$. It saves trouble and $$$ in the long run by having a qualified mechanic repair it. Doing your own repairs is dangerous; God forbid if you have an accident and injure an innocent person and wind up in court.
