Great lesson. Intro 1:36, 2nd section 7:59, 3rd 9:48, "chorus" 10:57 and break in the chorus 14:56
Love when people share their own arrangements and leave plenty of room for people to work out details for themselves. This is a beautiful arrangement for acoustic. Very soulful. Best part of this guy's approach is that he never says "this is the *right* way" Only this is what I think sounds good... or works... or is easy for me... Thank you for sharing.
+Dave VandenBranden as it SHOULD be...open for interpretation-
The best teachers convey most simply. Thank you all these years later! 🙏🏻
Great job, Jeff Lynne! Big fan!
This is awesome, playing it and learning it is one thing, but how on earth does anyone even begin to write stuff like this ?
Pure McCartney musicality, genius.
9 years later, & this lesson still gets me excited. Marty, stay out of the speaker cabinet !
This guy is an Amazing guitar Teacher!
That's "What the man Said" So says SIR Paul. Great lessons. Love the chord picking, strumming, palm muting.
Incredible lesson. I'm impressed with your arrangement and completely inspired.
I had the same problem for about a year too. I find it really helps to just sing the words in your head while playing at first, then hum, and then just try to sing it. If you can't do it at first, just keep trying. Now once I know the words and how to play a song, I just put two and two together, and I've got a song! Hope this helps :)
Whoa...this guy looks like John Lennon in 68/69.
Also Sean Lennon
That's because he's trying to.......nice player but what a douchey thing to do
ryan smith Dude, why would you think he's "trying to"? And why the fuck would you consider it douchey even if he was?
somonysam ...Lennon was a satanist scumbag. smh at how indoctrinated most are....and Ryan's right...he's trying too hard to look a certain way...douche chills.
Lol - I think I know who's the douche my friend. John didn't believe any of that Satan Bible shit. Why all the hate?
I thought this would take days or even weeks to soak in but you made it really awesome and simple. Add Band On The Run to my arsenal. Thank you!!!! I just wanna say, as a guitarist, you guys really know your @#$%.
Awesome and outstanding performance!! Well done tutorial. Thank you, Best regards.
Hey Marty .You are pretty baked on this one.Your boy is fantastic.
TheGravygun LMAO. He was want he? Lol
You certainly do look like Lennon! Thanks! Love this tune and loved the lesson!!
Marty you've lost some weight . When did you start wearing glasses ? XD
This is really great! I was working it out myself before I saw this video and wondered if a drop D tuning could help given that the song is so bass driven and it would actually help with some of the positioning.
Any help me out with the short rift @3:36 right before the G major 13 chord. I just can't make it out on the video and can't figure it out.
This is going to take some work. Thanks for the lesson!
Awesome tune, awesome transcription. Thank you your playing is pristine and soulful.
Fantastic arrangement and tutorial - easily the best I've seen for BOTR. Helped me loads. Cheers.
Great arrangement! Got the whole thing going on….one guitar. Impressive.
Stumbled on another sweet sounding one a my fav McCartney good ones, though I'm mostly a Lennon guy, gotta try this
i have decided after watching these gutiarjamz vids with kones that he is one cool, chill, AWESOME dude to be hangin with. Marty must have been ecstatic to have him around for a while.
amazing lesson and song, forgot how amazing it really is
Nice. Trying it later today. Love this tune
Great tune thanks for sharing how to play it..
great,great,great...song,teacher, and of course the composer lord Mcartney. thank you very very much.
thanks for your help! using this to help me prepare for my audition to a teen city youth band. it helps a lot!
Tks, i picked up a few things here but i go to Am from Em instead of A maj. from Em (the end portion of the song) Just sounds better to my ears.
Been playing since I was 8 years old. Just turned 50 last week. Received a beautiful Martin acoustic as a present from my wife - and then...came across this lesson. I was going to skip it because i was looking for a vid lesson with tabs, but this is so much fun and such a great version that hits the all the right notes whether it be on the guitar or emotionally. It's those little extra efforts you put into it that make the entire song worthwhile. Thanks much and cannot wait to show off once I practice the blazes out of this thing. -~-~-~-~-~-~-~ And I may as well ask, is there TAB available? PS - you and your buddy there make for some fun viewing and learning. Keep up the good work and thank you so much.
thank you guys for the lessons you're both are good teachers
personally my favorite lesson in about 6 months..... thanks so much marty and john! :)
Hi mate. I was in the same boat as you. Then after having 2 kids and I started playing nursery rhyme songs for them and suddenly found I could sing along. Might sound a bit funny but it was an easy way to get started.
How could this have gotten a thumbs down?
Great, so smooth.
.....relaxing. .what can I say. ...keep it up .....friend. ...
OH MY GOODNESS, THIS IS SO AWESOME!!
awesome job ! Thanks for the lesson ! on of my fav's !!
Very well explained and taught...excellent...thank you
Fantastic lesson Konesy! I wouldn't expect anything less though. Thank you John and Marty!
Thats an amazing guitar!
Very tasteful and memorable playing....
At 12:28 i think the chord is A minor. not A major...Great job man.....
Thanks you so much. I was always mystified with a couple of parts on this song and you answered a lot of questions for me.
I can't wait to spring this on my buddy. Thank you so much and Marty too!
That's awesome! Thanks for sharing this song, always wanted to learn it.
THis is great! I also like to add a quick G between the two parts of the second section
Brilliant! Thanks for posting this lovely lesson...
Marty and John can take over the world. Thanks you.
Wow, Ol' John Lennon is teaching his old bandmate's single! I love it! Great lesson by the way!
What I did was play along with the song first, so you get the rythm together with the lyrics. Then sing along while just forming the chords and not strumming. Then work in strumming. It helps a lot if you know the song you are trying to sing really well :)
Learned this and it’s my favorite
Thank you guys! Cheers from Brazil.
Very nice tutorial..easy to follow..
Good lesson, simply presented. Thank you.
Wow, great lesson. A lot of fun chords to learn. My dad would be proud, learning some James Taylor & Wings licks. Thanks man.
Thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks for the lesson.
Excellent video and tutorial...thank you very much.
kones delivers everytime... great lesson
This video was extremely helpful! Thank you so much!
kones, you are the best, I've been looking for this lesson everywhere!
Excellent lesson. I loved every moment of it.
Great video! It helped a lot. You look like Julian Lennon. XD
Are you sure youre not Sean Lennon?

Cool nice job, will learn it this way.
Thanks for posting... love that song! It played every night in my basic training barracks when the album was first released and I was still young. Been playing it on guitar ever since! kinda like you did, modifying to get more parts with just the 6 string. again thanks, and Awesome sound there Dude!
Beautiful. This is a fun learn.
Just bought the Blues Masters set... thanks Marty! I figure after 2 years of free rides on your UA-cam train, I needed to buy a ticket :)
Great stuff, I can finally play Band on the Run!
Wonderful song and you did a great job in showing us the break down!
you just have to learn a song really well, just keep repeating it and you'll get it, once you get the hang of it you pick it up pretty easy on a lot of songs
Thanks Kones great tutorial, sounds awesome
great lesson, brilliant song
John ...you play that great....nice mellow sound!
For fun, trill your index finger on the B string on the ending C chord.
Thanks John , well done
Great lesson. I play Em to Am (Band on the Run)...I dont hear A maj.
Great arrangement, of a great song.
What a great lesson! Well explained a good teacher!
He uses his nail as a pick? Just curious, learning new things about guitar and when I use my thumb (not nail) to strum, I always thought it was illegal lol
A great arrangement. I also dig your style.
Em followed by Am (minor not major on the A?)
excellent lesson..............thank you
Really love it, explained VERY well, but I'd disagree on the opening slides on the 8th to 10th fret, I go with a hammer style myself, but the rest is pretty spot on.
Wow, very nice!!!! Thanx a lot! Will have a try on this wonderful song I love so much!
So much things in it and it will be difficult, but when I got it, I will come back to you!
Thank you again!
All the best from Germany / Cologne
Lothar as ELPI
Yea man, slide your third finger down a fret to the 8th then with first (or second) hit the 7th and roll your finger up a string and hit 7th on one string up
Anyone know what guitar John is using?
Great tute dude, lov the Mac both Paul and Fleetwood!
Hi Thanks for the tutorial Great. What is the make of the guitar. Thanks.
This lesson is fantastic, txs!!!
I'd call it a rock concerto because it has four distinct movements.
