- First responders, local state and federal agencies, non-profit leaders, elected officials and Nevada County staff gathered at the South Yuba River on May 17, 2023 to send one message: Stay Out, Stay Alive. River flows are magnitudes higher than usual and there is no safe place to swim in the South Yuba River - at least until July!

Love the river, especially SouthFork. Water was perfect this last weekend.
i come to the Yube pretty much every year but i figured this was the case this year. Sad but at least we have water. See ya next year
Great advice. Unfortunately people die on Memorial day in the Yuba yearly. Growing up here I was taught to respect the rivers power. What is so beautiful can also take your life in an instant. Be intelligent y'all. Don't think it can't happen to you.
Over here in idaho the middle fork boise river is usually this time of year about 5000 cfs a few weeks ago it was 10000 these rivers are super dangerous right now
Is this water being stored ?
I'm bringing my canoe tomorrow.
this is awesome
It’s not a good river for that. Too many awkward boulders sticking out everywhere
I was planning to on Monday but the current is just too strong
update for late July? has anyone visited lately? expectations for August?
Flow rates are at summer normal, water is colder than usual. Rocks are slick from algae, rattlesnakes like hanging out at the river too.
@@YubaNet ah thx so much for your update! helpful to know ;-) guess all that snowmelt makes it colder than usual!
Power of water is not respected by many ..
Get body slammed by an 15-18 foot shorebreak and you'll know the power . .
get in the gym and lift some weights, then YOU'LL be the one doing the body slamming
@@dannyzuehlsdorf3697 Good advice... Thanks
