It’s nice that you want people to ‘remember things’, but you do your audience a great disservice by not teaching the correct terminology.. They may remember your cute terms, but if they talk to other crocheters about projects the crafter listening to them won’t have a clue what they’re hearing.. You’re actually dumbing down your audience.. And this pattern is not ‘step down’- it’s called Apache Tears. I like many of your tutorials, but I don’t like you thinking that I’m too stupid to remember correct stitch terminology- most of your audience wants to learn the stitches and patterns the same way everyone else does so we can all talk and share ‘off the same page’.. Thanks
Thank you for this BEST explanation of Tunisian crochet I’ve seen. When I tried many times, it didn’t work out. Even knowing what “looks weird is actually normal” was very helpful. I must try it again. I’ve crocheted for almost 50 years, need to learn something new.
Thanks so much for sharing this awesome pattern and doing the tutorial. I had never done Tunisian crochet until now. I’ve made 2 of these cowls and they came out gorgeous. I’d love to see more Tunisian crochet tutorials, especially a scarf or shawl. Thanks again!
I have never tried Tunisian stitch before. But with this tutorial I will have the 'guts' to try it. I have always wanted to try. Something new. Your instructions were so clear. I will be giving it a try.👍👍👍😊😊😊
What a great tutorial, Mikey! I can’t wait to try this stitch! By the way, I’m with you - I just want to sit around all day and crochet (and knit too)!
Hi love the tunisian stepping stitch, love all your crochet, thank you. Is there a way of using the stepping stitch to make a triangular shawl, I think it would be amazing. Thank you, Debra.
Thank you, Mikey. I really appreciate all of your tutorials. I always look forward to learning something new and finding inspiration for future projects. In the past whenever I tried Tunisian, I was most definitely gritting my teeth. Ha! I always ended up frustrated and frogging the whole project. I definitely think my issue was with the tension and the particular patterns I was attempting. I am going to follow your advice and order a larger hook so that I can try this cowl. Thank you again!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU...I've had my tunisian hooks for at least 5 yrs sitting in my tool box totally intimidating me...although it took practice sliding on the longer shaft I got it!!! 😋
Love watching your tutorials I just started the tension crochet and I will try this love the difference in this one a great combination of crochet and knitting thank you for your tutorials
Love the video. You mentioned that the cowl is made with Roll With It Melange. Is the color autograph? If not, would you please state the color. Many thanks.
@@TheCrochetCrowd I have given up the search and Amazon are bringing me some new ones tomorrow. I managed the test on a straight crochet hook but I want to try the cowl. Thanks for the video 😊
I'm smilin"! This is very fun!! A lot like knitting. What you call "shafting" is called "sizing" in knitting JIC you don't already know that. That's bc we wrap the stitch at the hook (or narrow needle point in knitting) and then slide it down to size it. Make sense? I'm left wondering why we don't knit with hooked needles...SO MUCH EASIER. Sure it would be a bit tricky to slip the stitch off the hooked end, but that is precisely what we're doing in Tunisian, albeit from right to left instead of left to right as in knitting. I'll let me' old brain ponder that one LOL. Thanks for encouraging all of us!!
i’m looking forward to trying this! I just bought a set of Tunisian crochet hooks. They are not afghan hooks but the interchangeable clover hooks with the wires. I assume those will work for this project, or should I get an afghan hook? Thanks!
...ok, I watched this vid yesterday, so I ordered a longTunisian crochet hook set and it's arriving today, wish me luck! It's crazy that I've been crocheting for 50 yrs, and yet I've never tried Tunisian style! I must admit I was prone to giggles every time you said, 'and shaft', I kept singing the movie music!
You have to block tunisian as the stitches are worked only on one side that causes that. So a couple or more rounds of regular crochet to prevent that.

Wow, 2 years ago when this was posted! Love it and Tunisian cowls. Shows off colours beautifully ❤
I like the term shaft-it it works great. What a wonderful teacher you are. You are awesome. Thank you for taking the time to teach us ❤️❤️
You are very welcome. I try to keep the terms memorable so you don't forget.

I always believed my tunisian was screwed up when some of it is the properties of the stitch itself.
This is my favorite project. I hope you make some more😊

You are so welcome! I will keep that in mind. I have an idea. I am meeting up with Anita in a few short weeks.
Great tutorial. I think I can do this!
We need more beautiful Tunisian patterns! Thank you both!!
We agree! I just don't design Tunisian as I don't fully understand it.
I love your sense of humor!!!
Thanks...

There probably is but I don't have an immediate answer on that.
Thank you for the tutorial. This is now on my to do list. I love Tunisian crochet and you explain it so very well that it seems all easy.
Thank you for your appreciation.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful crochet stitch tutorial !
You’re welcome 😊
I will try this . I have learned how to do Tunisian crochet , but haven't made anything yet , so this can be my first project . Thanks Mikey 😊 ❤
You can do it!
@@TheCrochetCrowd thank you , I will certainly try . I love Tunisian crochet, and will love to have made something other than a dishcloth lol
This looks gorgeous, can't wait to have a go. I love my showtime hat too :-)
Awesome. It's a fun little project and watch it grow. Thanks again.
Love watching your tutorials I just started the tension crochet and I will try this love the difference in this one a great combination of crochet and knitting thank you for your tutorials
I'm happy to share when we can.
Nice pattern! Ill give it a try. I have lots of yarn that will work. I've always wanted to try the Tunisian style.
Now is a great opportunity for sure.
LOL at the Boom Boom. Happy New Year Mikey. I hope you were able to enjoy the holidays with your loved ones.
haha... Happy New Year to you as well. Enjoy.
The stitch is called Apache Tears in mosaic. Thank you for your clear instructions
It's very similar yes.
Dank je wel voor de duidelijke uitleg
Thanks so much.
Oh I really love LOVE this!💜💜💜
That's super.
Is beatifull, tq.
Welcome 😊
Can you step stitch with the knit stitch? I may try it and see.
Love the video. You mentioned that the cowl is made with Roll With It Melange. Is the color autograph? If not, would you please state the color. Many thanks.
The one in the Video is called Tabloid. Anita's pattern you see is called Paparrazi. It's on the pattern as well.
Thank You for this💜💜
Our pleasure.
It looks an interesting stitch, I would love to give it a try. My problem is I moved in June last year and I cant find my Tunisian hooks.
Ut Oh! Maybe they are tucked in a safe spot. For me a safe spot means I will never find them. haha
@@TheCrochetCrowd I have given up the search and Amazon are bringing me some new ones tomorrow. I managed the test on a straight crochet hook but I want to try the cowl. Thanks for the video 😊

Using sizing doesn't have a double entendre eh! Would be easier to say too.
@@TheCrochetCrowd And we def don’t want to give our beloved crochet the shaft!😜
i’m looking forward to trying this! I just bought a set of Tunisian crochet hooks. They are not afghan hooks but the interchangeable clover hooks with the wires. I assume those will work for this project, or should I get an afghan hook? Thanks!
Those will work. They just extend longer.
@@TheCrochetCrowd Thanks so much!

Hope you like it! I giggle to! I'm kinda immature if you haven't noticed! haha
😊
I hear that
Hehe... yah.
ı like tunisian crochet models, but I do not like it always leaves a curl at the start and even sometimes end.
You have to block tunisian as the stitches are worked only on one side that causes that. So a couple or more rounds of regular crochet to prevent that.
@@TheCrochetCrowd Ah ok, thanks.
