Cuba’s 13 ai came with my Yamaha Mx 49, however going to use my education discount for pro
Perfect timing. Ive decided to go for Cubase 13, currently in trail. There's a ton of crashes though, so hopefully that will be resolved. Also, i'm super confused on what's the practical difference between Artist and Pro?? I have read the table, but new to all of this, so not sure how I'm affected in practical use?! Anyone know if I really need to go for the Pro Version?:)
I used Elements for a year and it did everything I needed it to do for basic vst instrument use, I dont need tons of track, then I upgraded to Artist 9 as it came with some free hardware so effectively got it very cheap but as someone who dabbles with music production for many decades Artist does everything I need and I could easily just go back to Elements as that did everything I needed too. Pro is complete overkill if you arent a serious producer.
Ok, I see. Thank you. Yeah, Ill start off with Artist then. My goal is to produce seriously though, I have already invested heavily on all the essential plugins etc but yes, Artist it is!:)@@maccagrabme
for what I do the only major thing I miss from Pro would be the Listen bus, that should be standard in any DAW that wants to give the same functionality as an analog mixer... but yeah overall it's really confusing, if you just want to work with instruments, MIDI, samples, plugins and mixing, i.e. a DAW based version of a 'traditional' production setup for electronic music then there's an awful lot of stuff in Cubase that isn't relevant or sub-standard or just has too much of an annoying workflow that you'll probably never use... in fact if they hadn't left out MIDI inserts and sends from Elements then this would probably have been a great DAW for a lot of people ( and talk about shooting yourself in the foot by excluding the market which made Cubase popular in the 1st place... )
Theres some great things in Pro that you dont get control room,.logical editor ate just a few
Only use Ive had for it this far is the LUF- meter. So, in my case Id by buying a LUF-meter for 200$ basically. I'm guessing there are other ways, cheaper ways to measure the LUF?!@@SnowAngelfish

Have you updated HALion Sonic SE to the latest version HALion Sonic 7.0.20? You can find the download in the Steinberg Download Assistant in the Cubase folder.

Hi Dom, thanks for the info. But there is no Non-Steinberg products like Fosfat, Melodyne, etc. are available in Steinberg Download Assistant, then where from download them?
In order to receive the partner products, you must log in to your MySteinberg account. You will find all codes in the "Vouchers" section. As each partner product must be redeemed individually, please click on the "Redeem" button at the top right and follow the link provided to go to the partner website.

And the issue that midi tracks re-number themselves randomly upon opening a project file. That's been going on since the really early versions of Cubase.

the one where he mute and solo when showing the guitar samples is a Solid State Logic UF8. The other pieces he uses to control expression parameters when playing keyboard is a set of Monogram
Quick question is there anything you can do in Melodyne Essentials which can't be done with Cubase's own Vari Audio?
VariAudio does a bit more than Melodyne Essentials (which comes "free" with Studio One Pro). VariAudio is on par with Melodyne Assistant.

how do you actually get all these new plugins then ? I have just download the 13.0.30 cubase update in the steinberg download assistant. but these don't appear. how do you install these partner plugins ??

They always have a sale going, wether in automn or spring. So for Cubase 14 you wait around 6 months before upgrading.

Take it as a lesson learnt, always wait as now, they are having to compete with other DAW's for new customers, there's bound to be a sale every few months!
@@bennyceca that's the thing, i basically waited all that time for the sale to come but then this weekend I thought it wouldn't come before September or October and I really wanted to upgrade so I did. Not a huge loss anyway😂
You paid the price you thought it was worth so get on with making music. You can offset it by upgrading in the sales next time so no worries.
I have Cubase 11. I don't like the fact that to upgrade to version 13 you have to upgrade to version 12 and only then you can upgrade to 13. Are there any other options to upgrade to version 13 from version 11?
Yes there are, when you select "Upgrade", you have options from earlier Cubase versions. You can of course go and look yourself!

Its been incredibly stable for me over the years. Reinstall the OS and cubase.
Did you try and uninstall, then reinstall Cubase? That's what they had me do and it worked, but as a precaution, backup your files just in case. After reinstalling, it found my projects and it works like it should. I didn't need to reinstall the OS, but you may need to.

Cubase must make his own toys, this way of sending the world to another place or copying from others is wrong. They should make a wavetable synth that together with the Sampler Track will make easier the work of edm producers. Then collaborate with Demis Hellen and Ferry Corsten to make content for Cubase because edm producers are marginalized in Cubase. My Opinion.
EDM producers have far better options, all most all of the bigger DAW’s are well setup for it. If you’re a serious EDM ‘producer’ I doubt you’d have steinberg stuff at all.

IMHO this DAW is only for super pros who knows everything inside everything.! Less is Much. For (ME). First I will learn some songs, to play some music. All theese things are coming after I can make music.
Come on Steingberg you can definitely do better than this. A bunch of trash bottom of the barrel plugins that few people want nor useful. No offense to Dom because I really dig his channel and what he does, so my comment is directed towards the company.
So you're complaing to the company for giving discounts and freebies ?... Right
No my issue is the plugins they are offering for discounts. I dig UAD, but nobody is seeking that synth en mass and everyone who wants melodyne essentials already has it. The remaining ones are below mid and can be done with stock plugins and EQs that you already have. My contention if you are trying to get into my wallet at least throw me something worth while instead leftover crumbs that everybody passed on at the buffet table.
@@PurpleMusicProductions I get that, but for me that 30% discount brings the update to 13 pro to under £60, that's an unbelievable price in itself. I mean look at the prices of natives plugins even with a 50% discount you're paying on average 3 to 4 times that amount just for a single plugin.
And the freebies.. some people may find useful, but I'm guessing for the majority of us we won't make use of a lot of free plugins unless they're premium. There's so many plugins out there which are just straight rips of other algorithms just repackaged and with hiked prices, anything free that had a use is a welcome addition for that point alone.
On the melodyne front though..haven't the removed it from stock ? I'm currently on 13 demo until I upgrade and I'm sure I went looking for melodyne and couldn't find it?
the Polymax synth is actually brilliant, but I already bought it anyway...
