Im going to be 100% completely honest. I thought it would be an issue beforehand, and then rewatched a dark episode of GOT and adjusted the balance before the winterfell episode came out🤷😂

They couldn't have done literally anything against either the Walkers or the dead whatever tactics they employed. The Red Lady did light up their swords *eventually*, but they didn't even know she'd be there. Meaning that they were initially planning to throw all of their cavalry at an army that reanimates the dead without any way of doing damage, essentially feeding the Walker army.

@@bleyk36 The point of shock cavalry is in the name, it is to create shock, break formation, by attacking morale, good luck doing that to litteral undead, also shock tactics is normally done by heavy cavalry, dothraki are not heavy cavalry, they are light cavalry more meant to harass and lure. but still without Dragonglass weapon or valyrian steel, they really can't do anything against wight, besides maybe luring them into fire traps., if they had dragon glass arrow they could have harassed the wight, but then again we also need to start talking about the difficulty of maneuvering at night especially on horseback, trying to pull of any complicated maneuver like dodging and harassing enemy formation at night is extremely risky. they probably should have harassed the enemy way before they reach the castle during the day, and during the battle being held off in reserve and reinforce at dawn or just be used as infantry in the castle, you can never go wrong with more people on the wall.
@@benjaminparent4115 Dragonglass doesn't affect wights, only the Others. Fire is what's needed for wights, though normal weapons can at least dismember and crush them. Heavy cavalry could have at least stomped them into the ground, severely slowing them down and blunting the wight's attack. But yeah, light cavalry in the dark was not going to be effective.
Remember, when the cinematographer for LotR was asked where the light was coming from in the night scenes, they just smiled and said, "Same place as the music."
And they had the sense to not have their best fighters riding out into the darkness to fight the enemy in an open field where they would absolutely be annihilated

To be fair, the show tries to use the Dothraki as heavy shock cavalry when their kit makes them light skirmishers at best. No armor, no horse armor, and only a kopesh-type sword and/or a bow and arrow. They should really only be used to harass the enemy with projectiles and/or maybe to ride down routed enemies. What happens to them during the battle of Winterfell is absolutely what would happen to them if you tried to charge them headlong into a prepared enemy formation, especially against a literal army of the dead that fights to kill instead of to survive. Then again, this is the same show where they have a perfectly good castle and consistently choose not to use it and fight in front of it instead. So not a whole lot of logic happening.

Never in battle are cavalry used at the start , ever. Good Infantry will hold them off Cavalry are always used as reserves. That was an unforgivable tactical error on the part of the writers , who thought the bells of king's landing would remind the queen of her naked walk of shame and send her mad , except they forgot it was actually Cersei that happened to not Daenarys
I love that Family Guy calls out the fact that HBO/GOT production team really tried to tell us that we all had bad TVs. Not that they failed to properly light/colour correct the footage. Or test the episode on different tv sets & devices to make sure that it was viewable. They clearly had no Quality Assurance testing process in place.

We have an older lcd tv. It has worse image than my phone I think, but seen the episode a week ago. Everything was visible, what they intended to be visible. We watched in hdr, dont know if its helped, or they changed the quality somehow since release. At release I just watched it on my older phone. There wasnt issue, too.

Yeah when they ran out of ideas they started to just do things that are insert movie/show here but with Peter and co. I think they've done about 7 or 8 of these where it is an entire episode. Deadpool was just a cutaway which I never hold to any standard since that was always just insert random thing here.
It's one of those shows that seems really funny in clips but if you actually watch an episode, it sucks because of the bad pacing, recycled jokes and cutaways.

Never in battle are cavalry used at the start , ever. Good Infantry will hold them off
Cavalry are always used as reserves. Tired infantry are no match for the speed of cavalry , whose speed allows them to over run a weakened infantry late battle whilst they battle your infantry.
That was an unforgivable tactical error on the part of the writers , who thought the bells of king's landing would remind the queen of her naked walk of shame and send her mad , except they forgot it was actually Cersei that happened to not Daenarys
I love that Family Guy calls out the fact that HBO/GOT production team really tried to tell us that we all had bad TVs. Not that they failed to properly light/colour correct the footage. Or test the episode on different tv sets & devices to make sure that it was viewable. They clearly had no Quality Assurance testing process in place.
You know what's crazy. In this short shot in a comedy cartoon like familiy guy, they still used better tactics as in the actual show!

We have an older lcd tv. It has worse image than my phone I think, but seen the episode a week ago. Everything was visible, what they intended to be visible.
We watched in hdr, dont know if its helped, or they changed the quality somehow since release. At release I just watched it on my older phone. There wasnt issue, too.

Yeah when they ran out of ideas they started to just do things that are insert movie/show here but with Peter and co. I think they've done about 7 or 8 of these where it is an entire episode. Deadpool was just a cutaway which I never hold to any standard since that was always just insert random thing here.
It's one of those shows that seems really funny in clips but if you actually watch an episode, it sucks because of the bad pacing, recycled jokes and cutaways.
They should definitely make game of thrones spin offs like they did of the Star Wars movies
and in the end i still loved the show
