Larry visits the Vitas Tactical Training Center in the outskirts of Moscow to witness the Russian Special Forces training competition. Like Larry on Facebook: / larryvickers
Well, in the current special forces, you must do that. And you have to do it yourself and write your address along with it. It gives you motivation to NOT SHOOT THE HOSTAGE.
0:19 it's unbeliveble, if something went wrong in 80's both of these nice old men would (freaking deadly at their time) would tearing eachother apart, while Larry was in Delta Force and russian Colonel was (and apparently still is) in Soviet Spec Ops. Now, they're both vets and talking to eachother. I hope it'll stay that way.
+Maza bĕsъ We from the former Yugoslavia have several military forums where everybody talks about military and their time under the helmet. Most interesting thing is how there are special, dedicated topics for sharing war experiences with each other. It looks something like this: "Hi, my name is private X, i was in the Y war zone with unit Z, and we held the line on the hill X, adjacent to the enemy unit Y. Are there any veterans from unit Y on this forum? Can you tell me what happened to that patrol that we spotted and opened fire on the date (dd/mm/yy). We heard some mines go off that night, did you guys have some stragglers..." etc. etc. It's a little bizzare, especially considering that there are forum members from all sides, and sometimes incidents and hard words happen but usually people just talk to each other and share their experiences(we all speak the same language, btw). :D
+Maza bĕsъ This isn't entirely uncommon either, push comes to shove the Russians are, just like the Americans, just people trying to get by in the world, not as different as you might think. I've seen this quite a few times in my reading about the Russian far East and it's tigers where you can see the same passion for wildness that you might hear from what we might call a 'treehugger' here. It's pretty remarkable to find this same reaction in a place where GDP per capita is a quarter of what you might find in the US.
I actually laughed out loud at the punishment for shooting the innocent bystander targets. I remember when I was back in basic in the Canadian Forces, one thing we had to do was write a 500 word essay, double spaced, single page, black or blue ink and if anybody had any spelling, formatting, punctuation or grammar mistakes, we'd all have to write it over again. We had to do that three fucking times. So having to write 12 letters and then run laps for each bullet hole is a pretty damn good incentive to make sure you know what you're shooting at.
I am terribly sorry, the Google translate did a nasty number on what you wrote, I think I got the gist of it but I have a feeling a lot was lost in translation. I am very well aware that it definitely puts some weight of innocent lives to an operator's actions, and I agree with it entirely. I just think it's a creative and kind of humourous punishment for making a mistake, especially at this high of a level of training.
YouCaughtCzars I'm not sure if what exactly you meant in your comment, but the guy in the video was talking about writing 12 letters (equivalent of ~12 essays) to the "families of the targets", explaining how because of his actions, they will never see their relative again.
Itskiryl33397 I'm well aware of that. I was just relating my own experience of having to write awful essays in the military and how I just found it humourous because it's a really creative punishment for making a mistake and imagining the reaction of somebody the moment they realized they hit a civilian target in the competition would probably be priceless. I'd rather run a bunch of laps than try and come up with a bunch of handwritten letters to people who don't exist.
USA and Russia have been knocking heads for decades. However the respect between our Special Forces units is a shared reality. Fighting the fascists in ww2, our mishaps made in Afghanistan and our current fight against radical Islam nation wide. The hell with politics, Russian and US soldiers have grit!

im kinda in a weird spot. im trying to build up my collection of guns. i already have 3 i have an 870 12g a cz75 compact 40 and a xd 9mm. but the thing for me is 9mm for ME is inaccurate, its recoil is weird and I believe its to weak for ME to use. so im ready to sell my xd (the gun itself is great) and ill get about 400 and i might add up money from my next pay check and what i have in mind for my next purchase is one of these: 1911 45acp, ar15/al havent really decided yet and just recently a glock 22, 27 or 23 most likely 23. now as far as a "rifle" is the 870 and i have no experience with guns like ar15s since im not in the military but im working towards joining either the army or marines but i want to improve myself first and so i think if i will join in the military i wont be around my personal guns so why would i rush to get an ar15? so now im focused on glock and 1911. iv fired a 1911 and glock before both great but when it comes to something like a cc or SHTF gun i think the glock has more to it (im fine with my cz being a war gun) so idk. should i get a glock 23? iv fired the 22 at a range before and that was my second time firing a 40 and i thought the straight from factory glock was great. sights were great, low recoil, grip was great, groupings were great. so now i kinda want to join the glock club. anyone who has an order they would to this in if they were in my shoes please comment. thank you.
