It felt so good to watch this trailer! Even though I was born in the mid-80s, I loved both the show and this movie as a kid! I remember watching re-runs on Nick and Nite!
Here’s a little history about this clip for thosr who did not know.... The part where Herman starts saying to Grandpa....”Call the police, Call the FBI, Call Batman...CAR 54 WHERE ARE YOU?” Al Lewis and Fred Gwynne starred in that show (CAR 54 WHERE ARE YOU?) before they were even cast for The Munsters. Pretty cool eh? So yeah, they knew each other going into The Munsters which was good for them. **Clips of the show are on UA-cam for viewing**
and he said call Batman didn't Batman take them off the air? because of Batman was on oppiste their show & got higher ratings the Munsters were canceled!!!
@@popeyejones9256 The Munster's was cancelled because Fred Gwynne didn't want to do the show anymore. The show was still popular, a show that isn't popular doesn't get a Theatrical movie made that would be a waste of time and money. There was plans to bring back the show back in the early 70's as an animated show, with Eddie as a Teenager, but only the pilot was made.
@@popeyejones9256 It's there reocurring jokes. Marylin is "Ugly" by their standards ,but they don't make her feel anything like that at all , in fact she's the part of the family and not an "addition" (the trope you see in many shows). There's a lot of irony within the show. If Marylin knew they were "Monsters" and that's why People run away from them, things might be different BUT I feel there IS NO IRONY and they all are just Super nice, that even Marylin doesn't care if her boyfriends leave her.
This is a great movie 💚 Great supporting cast. It's a shame that they didn't use Marilyn from the TV show. She wasn't not to old. It's still a nice companion to the 📺 show.
She was a college student in the series.. That's part of the problem I had with Marilyn in this movie. The actress was pretty, but the whole point of the character was that she was a blonde bombshell. A knockout. That was her "problem". It was treated as a defect since she didn't look "normal" like the rest of the family. 🧛♂️🦇
Color was finally common place when this movie came out, so going back to Black and White would be the equivalent of going back to standard definition today.
@@spencerfrankclayton4348 The original pilot episode was in color, but cost too much and why film in expensive color, when no one else was at the time, except for one or two shows.
Yes ..on HBO in the 70s hbo cost $19.99 extra on your cable bill @the time and was not even a 24 hour channel. Was no video rental /sales or digital anything at the time....
There have been several made for TV Munster movies over the years, but never another theatrical movie. I think the last Munster TV movie was in the 90's.
If you're at all interested or intrigued by the Munsters as a property, do yourself a huge favor, do NOT watch Rob Zombie's movie. It doesn't resemble the show, even the tiniest bit. Watch THIS movie instead, which was made right after the show ended, with the same cast, it has the same exact tone, humor, acting, you name it. It doesn't feel like a pointless "Extended Episode" either. It's what a movie of a show should be: a bigger adventure. It's hilarious, and I can't describe it any more aptly than to call it "comfort food". It's a cozy, loveable film, in its own cool and spooky way.
Good question. Supposedly the producers decided that Pat Priest was too old to be cast again as Marilyn (seriously, less than a year after the original show had been cancelled)?
@@losangelesrams3472 Wow! That's crazy! Of course she wasn't too old. Not only they messed up the movie but I'm pretty sure Pat Priest was beside herself and with good reason!
@@NJgateway I wouldn't say they messed up the movie. It's still a fantastic film. But they absolutely should have stuck with the other actress (bearing in mind that the character was originally played by a DIFFERENT actress to begin with, who left the show).

Re-makes aren't good these days, because they would "re imagine" the characters. They did do a pilot for a proposed new series a few years ago and it was horrible, Herman was just a regular human and Grandpa was evil and actually killed people. Jerry O'Connell played Herman. How the hell, can you do a Munster's show and have Herman not be a Frankenstein monster? Needless to say, the pilot was not picked up as a series.

Rob Zombie just released the new Munsters movie trailer, if you haven't already heard. Rob is a huge Munsters fan, and has made the movie more of a prequel when Herman met and married Lilly instead of retreading the original series and/or made it into a copy of the Addams Family, which was the reason why it hasn't worked. One thing however is the new movie should have been in B&W instead of color. But I think it will be a funny movie if given a chance, because there are rabid Munsters fans who think this is wrong without seeing it first.

With all the craziness going on in the world, watching the series lately is what I need. Now I need to watch this. 💙
They’re showing this movie for Halloween and The Munsters marathon.
Same. Then again, The Munster's one of my go to escapism as always even before covid or other crazy stuff.
this was my favorite movie when I was a kid, I watched this, and one crazy summer until the tapes wore out
I still have it on VHS
I actually remember watching it at a drive in double feature with the batman Adam west movie.

I hope they make this in 4k sometime in future.

Better that Munster revenge that was trash or the reboot of the show that was a disaster
