Mít trộn Bà Già-Unreal. So cheap and delicious. Still one of my favorite things I ate when in Da Nang. The mit tron and banh bot loc were by far my favorite, just flavor packed and full of heat. The best under a $1 meal in Vietnam.

As an inhabitant of Danang, I have to say the fact that Danang is always chill. That's why people call Danang is the most liveable city in the country. You should spend your times to take a sip of coffee in Son Tra peninsuela while listening to the sound of waves from the sea and watching sunset glow Max.

Six years when I lived in Danang must be in best times of my life. Still remember bunmam, mi quang, banh trang thit heo in Nguyen Chi Thanh street. And chilling with coffee in Benben cafe in Hoang Dieu street
That last place had a nice variety of banh trang. Gotta love how they keep coming up with different combinations for the same type of dish. Da Nang looks like a great place for good eats! BTW, Max, to say the word beef in Vietnamese, pronounce it like the word ball but drop off the ll sounds at the end as Vietnamese words are like French where you don't go hard on the ending sounds.

You should check vendors around schools in Da Nang. My old high school, Phan Chu Trinh, has one of the best variety streets food or breakfast options ever 🤤 Btw, not just Bun Mam, Da Nang also has its version of Bun Bo Hue, Banh Xeo, My Quang, Bun Thit Nuong, Bun Rieu, ... The cooking style of the central VN is just simply different from both the North and the South, and Da Nang is a good blend of the area. You have to check them out!

I was at the Vietnamese market last week and saw that they had xoài tượng - it's a rare find in the states. Got one and some mắm tôm to dip. Man, it was amazing. It's been probably over a decade since I've had the xoài tượng variety. I hope things will get back to normal again soon so we can travel safely. I really want to try some of the places you've recommended.

Don't you just love all the Vietnamese salads? They are so different than American salads of lettuce. As a kid growing up in the US, I hated veggies, but I could eat all the Vietnamese salads (my parents made the cabbage/carrot one and the thinly sliced cucumber one...but they're all similar just with different types of shredded or thinly sliced veggies/fruits and a ton of herbs, peanuts, fish sauce, etc.). Refreshing and tasty!

Why not make it to reality....life is too short to dream...just pack you bag and go. The ticket for round trip to Vietnam is not that expensive and food is cheap. You can even get three stars hotel for great price. They normal including breakfast for you too...four and five stars is outstanding....
So don't dream or wait until you win lottery...just go...let me know when you get there❤❤😛😛 I am sure Max is not rich 😜😜 ( He may now since we both following him...lol)

BTW, just so you know, the sauce that came with your bánh tráng was not made from the typical soy sauce, but was a bi-product when people made bò khô - usually called nước sốt bò rim.

If you like super spicy food, central Vietnam is the place, but too spicy would just kills my tastebuds. I never had the dry bún mắm, but I think I’d rather have the soup or hotpot version. Thanks for showing us Da Nang food, Max.

Actually that was true. I remember growing up after the VC taken over, there was nothing to eat literally so we invented a salad dish from banana trunk.

Technically , that is true 😂 . Vietnamese people have been through hell after wars and wars. That's why we tried to be creative with what we had. If it is edible, you will be damn sure that we can turn that into food 😂

When you only have tissue, you can use it, but if you have both tissue and lemon,you should use lemon to clean the chopsticks.Vietnamese often do it.

@Kay Flip I have been living abroad for 10 years now and the American average salary is very hard to live on in the usa. 10 dollars an hour in California. They are catching up to us really fast with their living standards.
