Wow, thank you for that macro shots and comparison, its very interesting actually and helps to decide what is better. I plan to get San Martin for long time!
Thank you for the review, I've been waiting on it to make my decision, San Martin for me tomorrow, I value QC and solidness over the movement, I can always change the movement but I can't improve the solidness. I'm not worried about the lume lasting 20 mins, but I like a good quality bracelet/clasp and the overall the end link to end link dimension is really important for me, smaller the better. Again great review, thank you so much for doing it!
Heya bro 😎 as Jory, the time teller says, Different Strokes for different folks and those are good points and I agree. I also like my QC for the same reasons but I also have big wrists so I can pull off bigger watches and still make them look good with my biggest being a 52mm lug to lug Invicta 1959 Russian diver which was the first watch I bought that got me into the hobby so there is that. One thing you have to keep in mind with the Kronos is that's a $200 movement in a $300 watch as stated in Jody's review. So yes you could change the movement but it would be easier and more feasible to pull the movement from the Kronos and drop it in something really nice if you wanted to go down that rabbit hole. As a matter of fact a few weeks back another reviewer scored a fashion brand watch for I think less than $100 and it wound up having a $2,000 Swiss movement in it and I suggested just that but he was already thinking along the same lines for it 🤣 . On the flip side of that coin I just got this show called $800 watch in 2 days ago and I'll have to say it's a tank but it has the same 20 minute lume issue. rgmt.co/products/rg-8001-11

Nice comparison. There are certainly pluses and minuses on both watches. As far as the movements are concerned apart from the high beat Chinese one, the Seiko movement is capable of matching COSC certified timing. Plus if you're anywhere outside of China and need a watch service or repair the NH35 will likely be easier to service and easier to get part replacements if there's a problem. Every watchmaker will know the NH35, the Chinese movement......probably not.
The PT5000 is certainly more of a gamble than the very well known Seiko NH35. What's more, if things go sour and you have to change the movement the NH35 is cheap
@@Horologique wouldn’t it make more sense to buy another watch if the movement failed at some point? I’m looking to buy my first watch again (over 20yrs) and my last Citizen was a quartz mall watch. I know very little about watches, but I have been learning a lot in the past week or so thanks to videos like yours! I was looking at the Rocos 0139 because I like the look. Definitely, want it to have good lume… also be somewhat accurate with a sweeping second hand. Is the PT5000 the best movement for an homage in that $200/range? Thank you in advance for your response!
Just a few points on your review. 1. why do reviewers never show detail of the crown waterproofing? The San Martin has an extra 'o' ring on the crown, this really does make a difference when you are working under water, should you disturb the crown it can save your watch. 2. Whilst the finishing on the SM is great, much better that the Cronos, the NH35 does not cut the mustard, good workhorse that it is, against the PT5000. 3. If SM engraved the rehort with their name and the saphire with their new logo I think that that would just lift their design to a new level. All these things done together in a watch at around $200 would I think give San Martin a real winner and one that would make me part with my hard earned cash. Thanks for the review.
Hello and thank you for your comment. I was willing to show the fact that the SM has the O ring and the Cronos doesn't, but time caught up with me and I couldn't. As for the movement, I think both have their arguments, I believe San Martin should offer an option with the PT5000

The Cronos was appealing on paper, but having seen the QC issues in your video I have to give all the credits to San Martin. It costs half the price of the Cronos and doesn’t have its QC issues. Only downside is the inferior Seiko NH35 movement of the SM (although anyone that calls himself a “watchmaker” will be able to service it or fix it, if needed). Also the compact end link to end link length of the San Martin is a very big advantage for my small wrists.

@@arcaine101 Wonderful, I gotta get me one of those. When it gets there tell me how you like it :)
@@Horologique Will do!
@@arcaine101 ohh. I am from the Philippines. Where did you get your watch? :)
I really want to get one
It appears that the cyclops in the San Martin is kind of small.
It appears that est because of the doubt applied, I think they enlarge by the same factor
Will wait for a v4 San Martin...hehehe
I have a watch with a PT5000 in it and it runs +12, my Seiko NH35s all run under +7
I guess it's a matter of luck as well. I have plenty of NH35s that run within COSC but my 2 PT5000 runs within COSC as well. Actually the PT5000 tolerances are +-12 seconds a day, when the ETA2824 base is +-30
calibercorner.com/eta-caliber-2824-2/#:~:text=Four%20Grades%20of%20ETA%202824%2D2%3A&text=Elaborated%20%E2%80%93%20adjusted%20in%20three%20positions,Chronometer
PT5000 can be easily regulated, NH35 can be pita to regulate, so if your +12s is consistent you are only one step from perfection.
That San Martin would be perfect if it had a glide lock or easy link clasp.
I think V1 had a glidelock. I think it would be better if they proposed a PT5000 version
Both watches are made in the same factory. I think San Matin might assemble theirs themselves though.
Yes they are! I would think Lugyou manufacture assemble both?
@@Horologique I would too but it seems like there was more dust in by the dial on the Cronos. This surprised me actually. Ive never noticed the dust in either watch before.
@@bjdenil you have to remember that this is super macro, invisible to the naked eye!
Would be interesting to see the macro shots of an actual rolex
Perfect

Let's not forget, they are made in the same factory
They are but apparently to different requirements!
The good news is that with the Cronos out the San Martin dropped in price. The more competition the better deals for the consumer.
Totally!
A bit of shame for the cronos, thx!
It should be Cronos V3 Vs San Martin V3 and the San Martin would blow the Cronos out the Water ✌️🧐🇬🇧🇺🇦
I want that Cronos so bad!
Then go ahead and get one 😁
@@Horologique I honestly cannot afford it right now. COVID has really hurt me financially. Currently making much less than I am accustomed to, after not making anything in my business for most of the year.
@@bjdenil sorry about that my friend, I really understand, this awful pandemic has killed so many people and ruined so many more 😢. But things will turn around, don't worry!
Plenty of luck and good health to you and your family!
@@Horologique thank you! Health and blessings to you and your family as well.
San Martin also has better end links
Yes it does!
Me thinks you work for San Martin.
Mmmm no...
hello
nice video
i like it
i hope you too!
Thank you so much 😁👍
When Cronos win you say it's a draw and the macro shots of San Martin are further than Cronos, my conclusion:you are biased, bad review
Sorry if you got that impression, the Cronos won on 2 categories though, and I guess I was a little pissed that they sent me a crooked cyclops. But all in all I mantain that the SM is a better watch
Cronos makes SanMartin. AKA Lugyou.
Yes I'm aware of that, but as you can see the end result is not the same
i will solve this dilemma... do not buy cronos! they'll get ya.
It sounds so cringy when you say San Martin. It's mart-in. No need in trying to make it sound fancier than it really is.
That's how you pronounce it in French
@@GM-ii8gs well good to know you pronounced the Chinese company name in it's native French.
@@gilbertoflores7397 No, I'm British, I pronounce it Mart-in, but I'm sure a native Chinese speaker doesn't pronounce it that way either. The reviewer has done a great review, he has spent time and money on it, with 1.4k subs the money from AE and YT won't cover the cost of the watches, this is a hobby for him, so instead of saying thanks to him, you complain about his accent!
