I wanna say that the band members didn't much like the song because it was too simple for their usual style. It wasn't until the quirky percussion was added that they were all sold on it.
I think people overlook that these guys had a great sense of humor. While they were amazingly talented musicians they had fun with it all. This is a rocking tune, but at it's heart....it's comic relief.Same with Jesus He Loves Me. I love this band.I get the feeling people want 'prog' musicians to be serious.I think silly is good sometimes.

As a youngster in the 80s you would hear Genesis or Phil Collins himself on the radio everywhere with so many great songs. He has such a unique voice. So very talented. It's like everything he touched was gold back then.

Including all genres of music. To this day if a Phil Collins song comes on the whole family sings along. So iconic, and catchy, a track that'll get stuck in your head for years to come, and I can honestly say this. Truly one of a kind Genesis and Phil is. Legends.

OML That Guy yes I do keep up with music. Phil Collins left Genesis in March 1996 to focus on his solo career. He formed the Phil Collins Big Band with himself on the drums. The band performed six jazz renditions of songs Genesis and his solo career. His sixth solo album Dance into the Light was released in October 1996. Now Phil Collins due to the fact a lot of people thought he was dead rejoined with Genesis and is now doing a tour for old times sake.

This was one of the very first, if not THE first music video I ever saw as a child in 1991. My mother and aunt were absolutely obsessed with Phil Collins, and they had a VHS tape with a bunch of his videos. I wanted to be part of the group too. To me, Phil Collins was absolutely the epitome of grown-up cool, so I asked my mother if I could watch the tape, too. She was like “YES ABSOLUTELY, this stuff is so so good,” and I became a lifelong fan. I’m still bitter that they didn’t take me with them to the concert.
