In this video I share that my best friend Loki, the cutest German shepherd on UA-cam, was diagnosed with a disease called pannus. Pannus is very serious and if left undiagnosed and untreated, your dog will go blind. The symptoms of Pannus are red eyes, bloodshot eyes, discoloration on the cornea, and eye discharge.

I really want to thank you. Our boy Trump was diagnosed about 2 years ago. His eyes were so dark but it had not hit the pupil yet. We took him to Pacific Institute for dogs and they started him on the drops of cyclosporin and the anti inflammatory drops. When we saw this we called the Wedgewood Pharmacy and they did not have coconut oil but corn oil. So we decided to try it. After 4 months his eyes are almost perfect, it's like incredible. He can catch the ball before I throw it, lol. He is a big beautiful Gerberian Shepsky whose name is Trump, lol. He says thank you. So glad hubby found your video. Marjorie and Jeff.

Just want to say thank you !I watched this video and I took my two year old shepherd to a ophthalmologist and found out she does have pannus in both eyes and I got eye drops for her and her eyes look so much better . It just feels so much better to atleast know what she has now and that I caught it so fast . I wouldnt of known unless I watched your video thank you so much ! Also my doctor also told me that sunlight can make the progression worse so now when we talk long walks during the day my Shepherd has to wear goggles 😂 it's cute but she hasn't gotten used to it yet lol

Hi Sarah! What type of drops did your veterinary ophthalmologist recommend? I took my 2 YR GSD to the vet last month and they didn't do anything except an antibiotic cream. I probably will have to take her for a second opinion to an ophthalmologist specialist. Thanks in advance =)

@@chevytothelevy456 so they gave me two types of eyes drops that I give two drops twice a day. first one I give her is tacrolimus 0.02% this medication is to help stimulate tear production and decrease corneal inflammation and I wait 3 to 5 mins before I give her the second eye drops. the second one is called Pred Acetate this medication contains ophthalmic steroid it treats eye inflammation. I will say though the appointment was expensive but so worth it I don't regret it at all.

@@sarahclick9467 Appreciate the info! I will have to take my poor puppers in to get checked out. Better to get it diagnosed officially rather than to guess. Expensive to own a dog but totally worth haha

My 9 year old gsd has pannus pretty bad. I use optimmune. Its an eye ointment to stopbthe auto immune response in the eye. 2 times a day. 50 bucks a tube and they only last 3cweeks or so and the last tube seemed to be partially full of air. But whatever i have to keep her on it. It seems to be getting worse anyway. But she's having a good time with her buddies and shes in great shape otherwise. Although her ears are constantly in need of cleaning in the nooks and crannies. Thats what i thought was causing her eye problems in the first place. Its terribly sad but she is still going strong and is a big girl at 105 pounds with no hip issues. Im grateful.

Thanks for posting - I understand what you are going through - my Siberian Husky was diagnosed today - like you I'm gutted about it. I really appreciate how positive you are about the future - it made me feel much better. Thanks Comeback Kid. My dog hates his face being touched - giving drops will be difficult. Any suggestions please? All the videos about giving dogs eye drops use little dogs or very docile ones. All the best for you and Loki - he's a great dog.

Hi Language. I'm going to make an update video probably tomorrow. You will not believe the results. Loki's eyes have gone back to 100% normal, you'll have to see it to believe it. I'll do my best to make and post the video this weekend. Thanks for watching! :)

My girl developed a white spot on her eye. She is only 3. Looks like a grain of rice. Fellow GSD owners pointed me towards pannus. She has an appt. today. Wish me luck! 🤞🏻

Hi Peter. The drops cost me $50. I give them to Loki twice a day and the bottle lasts me 3 months. The alternative is, loki goes blind. He’s my best friend, Easy decision to make. I hope your pup gets better soon. Thanks for watching.
