I agree 100 % with you . That seafood restaurant is one of the most expensive in Da Nang and one of the worst as well . But they have a huge selection though . It`s more for tourists . The Vietnamese people always go to the local restaurants situated in small alleys , far away from touristic areas . They are cheaper and way more delicious . FYI , the huge long stuffs that you didn`t know the name are Oc Voi Voi ( Elephant's Trump Snails ) , imported from Canada ( British Columbia province ) and the round ones are Abalones ( Bao Ngu in Vietnamese ) . Both of them are expensive food delicacies in Asia

The restaurant was practically empty and was not packed with the locals. That should be the warning sign not to go in.

By the way, locals go to the beach at 5 because the sun during the day is too intense. The UV index there is 12+. Notice the folks there cover up if under the sun

I went to another seafood place a bit like this ordered some food - prawns, fried rice ,and some greens . The prawns arrived, then the rice 45 mins. Later then the greens an hour later, while all the people around me were getting served. I just finished the rice and prawns and refused to pay for the greens as I had already finished the other food by the time they arrived. I will never eat in one of those restaurants again, I think that foreigners specifically don't get served properly and get ripped off. It was my first meal here, not a good start.

Everyone is better off at the food stalls near the Dragon Bridge . . .

lol. I forgot all about that. I used to get that treatment in Bangkok. All the tables around you got served and finished their food while you're so hungry waiting. I don't recall having that happened in the US.

I saw a sign at the restaurant for lobsters that say 1.800.000 VND/kg which is equivalent to 80 USD/kg. So an average lobster, say 5 lbs, would cost you almost 200 USD. Wow, it is quite extravagant!
In other clips made by other UA-camrs, the Son Tra night market a plate of seafood including lobster runs from 20-40 USD. So please visitors, go there and as this gentleman said: Avoid this Ngoc Huong restaurant.

We totally agree with you. We did a video on the Night Market and afterwards the fire breathing dragon. The night market is the place to go for fresh seafood at a reasonable price. As a bonus you can see them take what you picked and cook it in front of you so you know your getting what you chose. 👍

Am confused about one thing. Why would you want to go to a restaurant that is gonna cost you $100.? You can eat like a king for 1/10 of that. The food you get for small change is outstanding. Plus you can pick out your food from live tanks. In 20 min. your eating what was swimming around the tank. I know of $50. Buffets that are worth it if that's what you want, but I LOVE the food stalls. No waitress, no menu, no fanfare; just outstanding food at insanely low prices. No waiting!!!

I agree - but we had no idea where to eat and the reviews for this place were decent. Trust me - we love food stalls and street food in general. 👌

    I am with you 100%!
Although, I like the beautiful beach surroundings & natural environments of Da Nang….
Last night was my first day in Da Nang & had a horrible experience of food (costly)+ taxi drivers threat😰. Since, I don’t know any Vietnamese I asked hotel employees to recommend a nice local restaurant. The food was the worst ever (smelt bad= I know fresh food smell because I have been to many places I.e. Boracay, Phuket, Bangkok, Bali, Guam, etc). Took several taxis on my way back to hotel because the restaurant employee told wrong hotel name to taxi driver (even though I showed her the hotel business card+hotel name written in Vietnamese). Each time I got transferred to a taxi the drivers charged me overpriced amounts!!! I had no choice but pay them (it was almost 9 pm and dark at night + got no changes). Thanks God, I wasted all my Dongs last night that I won’t be able to go out anymore. Just going to swim and enjoy in the hotel and leave in 3 days.

We are very sorry for your experience. We had the hotel arrange our taxi to the resyurant and my wife followed our path with Google maps. Then we started to walk home on the main beachfront street since our hotel was directly across from the beach. We hailed a taxi when we tired and new the location of the hotel so there were no shenanigans. Besides this horrible meal our experience in Da Nang was really positive. Next time we will get our seafood fix at the open market across from the Dragon Bridge. 👍

Please keep in mind, this restaurant has imported seafood. People that eat here pay premium prices to try seafood from other countries. The cost of the product itself/ customs/taxes/other import fees reflects on the prices here. It would make sense that you could get cheaper/fresher seafood that specifically came from your country.
I can't comment on the dishes you guys ate personally, but maybe there was a language barrier when ordering. You could simply explain to them that you wanted grilled oysters not raw.

    • @fairview6120
      @fairview6120 2 роки тому +1

That's a lie! VN seas have all kinds of seafood, no need to import from other countries. Except for the elephant trunk snails which can be transported by air to VN from Canada, I see that other live seafood cannot be imported without losing the freshness.

    • @jglee6721

@@fairview6120 I think the lobsters were imported too. I saw in one of the videos of the night market. When it's a million dong and up, that's a warning sign.

Culturally they may only eat raw oysters and the idea of grilling oysters never crossed their minds.

I don't want to take a negative spin on you and/or your experience. I found your video intriguing at first for your upbeat personality along with awesome scenes of the city. I am not particularly impressed with you not able to know/identify some of the more rare and less common fresh seafood there - your very strong opinion and harsh critique of seafood you had at the restaurant is therefore can not be seen as wholesomely objective.
