- I was just preparing Whisper the stoat kit I am hand rearing for a life in the wild and had got so far as adding branches to her enclosure for her to learn to climb up when I was contacted by some people in Norfolk who had a kit the same age as Whisper that needed rehabilitating.
You can watch more on the stoat kits' rehabilitation journey in this series: • Weasels & Stoats | Res... and find more rescue films here: • Rescued & Returned to ...

ABOUT THIS FILM
____________________
New rescue stoat
This was excellent news. In the wild stoats grow up in litters of seven or eight kits. They learn how to fight and hunt through play and so I knew that it would do both stoat kits the world of good to have one another for company.
So, after a lot of driving, I got the new stoat kit here. The people in Norfolk who rescued the kit had named it Stuart, but it turned out to be a female. Still both kits are exactly the same age and size and so she is an ideal friend for Whisper.
Whisper & Stuart meet
It's important to remember that when both kits were rescued their eyes were still shut and so neither had seen another stoat before. I carried Stuart(a) over to Whisper's enclosure in a hat that the people who rescued her had given her to sleep in so that she felt safe and at home.
At first, both were wary and Whisper, who you will remember I named because she was so quiet, was particularly vocal, squeaking in alarm at what she at first took to be an intruder. But within in half an hour the two stoat kits had settled down to play.
Stoat friends
It's been wonderful to watch them play hide and seek and chase each other through toilet rolls and into one another's safety hats and socks. With each other for company and to learn from, they both stand a much better chance in the wild. This is so much better than me trying to play with Whisper, throwing teddy bears and toilet rolls for her to chase!

Love the names, Stuart, a girl and Whisper who screams 🤣
They are so precious, thank you for rescuing and raising them up to release!
There is currently one of these cute little predators living in my fishing gear shed. They don't cause any damage at all and they hunt and eat mice, rats, squirrels and other rodents that chew on everything and cause damage. An awesome little creature to have around your house, I feed it and treat it well so it sticks around, it's been keeping my yard free of pests for a few years now and has become really tamed and nosey. They're extremely fast and especially cute in winter months with their thick white coat, but don't let their tiny size and cuteness fool you, they turn pretty vicious when backed into a corner. If you treat weasels right and leave it be, you'll have a nice little friend that will keep your yard free of unwanted rodents for years to come, free pest control.
That's really cool. I have rodents in my garage, would it be ideal to have one run about in there and clean them out?
It sounds like weasels and stoats make better rodent catchers then what a cat is.
@@shannonn2569 Cats would be just as good maybe even better, but here where I live there are too many eagles around to let our 4 cats go outside so the weasel does the job for them.
@@ATT90fficial No idea, I've never done that, the ones I've encountered in my yard all come on their own. A cat or two would take care of your problem quickly.
That’s pretty cool. We just have rabbits in our yard.

Could not stand the music to be honest, sadness is not the emotion I wanted to feel watching this.
Looking at them playing you wouldn't realise just how deadly these gorgeous little critters can be. 😂 Stoats and weasels get a bad press, nice to see people taking care of them. Glad they get on so well too, they will hopefully have a long and happy life together 🥰❤
I am now fervently in love with this man. I want to move in with him in Britain, and help him rescue stoats. And hand-sew some more sleeping bags for them. ❤️
They are ADORABLE!!! Yep, and wild animals so not an ideal pet. I'll just watch your rehab cuties and enjoy them from afar!
Vincent T. Controlling men are not ideal husbands
Tenerife Cats I agree with you, they are nasty little things in the wild, they can kill rabbits twice their size.
I just watched "Stoats in the Priory" - David Attenborough, a real eye opener.
Yea its too bad. They are cute but they totally aren't pets and wouldn't be very happy at all caged up forever.
Tell that to the zoos.
Meep animals in zoos are not treated like pet animals, assuming it's a decent zoo and not one of those roadside shits.

Everytime I see such cute and precious creatures, I forget about all that negative stuff we have in this world.

I could watch these adorable little creatures all day!! They are so absolutely adorable!! They look sooo soft!!!
Mustelids are the most fascinating, under-estimated animal group around
I totally agree. I have thought that mustelids were fascinating since I was around 10 years old.
They are truly Natures Psychopaths. Their high metabolic rate means they must keep moving (to find food) constantly and their ability to kill prey much larger than themselves is amazing. I am a volunteer trapper in New Zealand, where mustelids are introduced pests that wreak havoc with the native bird population (which evolved without mammalian predators). Their skulls are beautiful, like tiny little tiger-predator skulls.
My very FAVORITE animal group!!! Had ferrets for years! Raised a weasel, they are the best and are very rascally!!!!😘♥️‼️
Alf Noakes They are worthless loons!!!! Just love them!!! Way too cute!♥️‼️😘
@jumblesgoodridge I think the word you are looking for is "eh!" "Aye" (pronounced "I"), means "yes."
I had a friend who had minks. They were very inquisitive and extremely active, and these little critters remind me very much those. The only problem with the minks was that they bit a lot. Sometimes pretty hard but most of the time just kind of a nuisance and irritating. Apparently it's a way that they talk with one another and so they will attempt to communicate that way with people as well. These little critters are so cute!
I didn't know that, thanks
@@avicennitegh1377 😀
Adorable. People like you make the world so much better.
I love how quickly they went from potentially hostile to completing each other's little lives. Remarkable.
That tiny little thing is capable of taking out an entire coop of chickens in one night.
True they can but they keep the rats and mice around the cool under control which Is all good for me I just reinforce the coop so that they can’t get in it’s not to hard
350 chicken farmers disliked this video.....
amassing isn't it
Yes , that’s real talk right there. A stoat is just as deadly as a lion and a panther, is just their size difference. Plus the stoat knows more tricks on how to hunt it’s preys. Deadly little creatures. Lol
Introduced stoats & ferrets have decimated native bird species in NZ.
Now imagine some aliens doing the same scenario with two abducted humans. LMAO
and they experimented on us by giving us all the "fun" but warned that they will all take it away if we eat some apple.

That is SO awesome! Just imagine being both of them. Your whole life being by yourself in a strange place all by yourself. And then one day you find out that you're not alone in your little world!
