We live in troubled and dangerous times. It has been a long time since there have been as many ideas and events in our world causing fear and anxiety as there are today. But one thing, in any event, is clear, and that is the duty of Christians to search more diligently than ever the prophetic Scriptures. Do not be like the Jews at the first advent who were blind to the hand of God and the fulfillment of His purposes in all that was going on in the world. Let us instead remember that the word of prophecy is given to be a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise (2 Peter 1:19). Let us walk in that light. Let us search what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them [the prophets] did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow (1 Peter 1:11). Let us compare prophecies fulfilled with prophecies unfulfilled and attempt to make the one illustrate the other. Let us strive, above all, to obtain clear views of the things we should be expecting, both in the church and the world, before the end comes and time will be no more.

The perspective Ryle had in the 1860’s of the darkness of the times he was living in … is definitely food for thought.

Joseph, I am so thankful that the Lord Jesus Christ does not reject any who come to him, regardless of our social status, education or lack of it, or anything else. If you come to Jesus and believe in him, and if you deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Christ, you will not only be received, you will also be blessed both here and now, and in eternity.

@@lauridsmeline2610 It's true, there is nothing good in you, or in me. Our wrestling is with spiritual forces, and our own lusts. But praise God, we are saved by faith, and the same one who tells us to overcome sin is also confident that we can do that. I think the biggest thing I need is to love the Lord with all my heart, to love my neighbor as myself, and overcoming sin, while it make take a while, is within reach because my goals are right. Don't despise your life. Instead, deny yourself the pleasures of sin. It's not about you, it's about Jesus. And then, praise the Lord, we have this incredible promise that He will not turn away anyone who comes to him by faith. _Everyone the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will never cast out._ (John 6:37)

Have you heard of this thing called the coronavirus? 🤣 I chose this name during lockdowns and all that stuff, when every day was just corona o'clock because it's all the same. I've heard of the Corona beer so I know what you mean, but it's not even a popular brand in my country so it never occurred to me that someone could see my username that way. I'm sorry about the confusion, I'll think of changing it if I technically can.

Israel was reestablished, after this book was written. Nearing a hundred years ago was Israel reestablished. They were scattered after the sacking of Jerusalem by the Romans in 79AD. So with this, the day IS dawning.
