Atrium is more impactful to feel explosions and bullet sounds hitting. Footsteps will be deciphered on either headphone very well. Both require an amp though.

That sounds way better than both of them the budget is 2,300 bucks?

Best...well it was the Enleum 23RM. The Mojo 2 was really good as well. The Midgard did alright, but you may like the new Schiit Gunnr with them. It should have plenty enough juice to drive them. Depends on how much you want to spend. The Enleum is $3k.
That's a good option for sure. As long as you don't mind the learning curve (kind of like mojo2) then yeah for sure. I'm guessing you need something portable?
My mistake, you are referring to the desktop amp. I've not heard it to compare to the Enleum unfortunately, but, you did get the Dac built in. For that money, there are going to be so many options. Id just do some research and you'll come up with something.
dont know about Stellia but I would never trade them for my VC, thats my true endgame on tubes, you see planars most likely cannot give that soul to the music thats why Im big fan of dynamic drivers, few of them keep up in terms of speed with planars + tube natural timbre
Interesting. I'm always curious about how new TOTL closed-backs sound vs the Stellia. When I first started to really get into headphones I made an agreement with my wife that I wouldnt go crazy filling the house with gear and would ultimately look to just geting 2 (one closed-back and one open). After checking out a couple of expos and a few audio stores I wound up with the Stellia as I haven't been able to find a closed-back I liked better than it. I haven't been able to listen to any ZMF yet so I can't speak to something like the Atrium or Verite but if they can manage to sound better than the Stellia that's saying something. I'm really looking forward to experiencing more of the TOTL Open-backs and completing my little Endgame duo. Loved the Utopia and Meze Elite, and I'm very curious about the Caldera , Abyss 1266 Phi TC and Empyrean 2. Not sure which Open-back I'll ultimately wind up with but for now I'm just enjoying the hell outta my Stellias

Wow, great review. I use an MM500 for mixing straight out of a Macbook Pro; it's been great even without a pre amp. I'd like to add a pair of closed backs for mixing and recording vocals. Q1] Would E3 and MM500 cover all the bases you think? Q2] Also, could you suggest an ideal portable pre amp for travel which I might buy that would compliment the pairing? @@Skeeb23 It's not about the money it's about the portability of working from the headphone jack on a Mac Book Pro. I mainly use the open MM500's and they sound good straight without an amp. I know closed DCAE3 will take more juice so I'll try the MA18. I can always return them to Amazon. Thanks for getting back.

Do you think the HE1000se is good for Christian music? because Christians love their treble. The Arya Organics are sort of "drowning out" everything with their treble over the vocals in mostly Christian music. I do not mind a lot of trouble, but dang, when there's a lot of treble over a lot of treble songs, it is bad. Do you think that the HE1000se would be better for me? I heard that the HE1000 Stealth's have like a smaller sound stage and is more relaxed. But I want a realistic sound signature instead of Boosted mid bass and treble (Arya Organics) and not reduced treble and more bass(HE1000 Stealth's). What do you think? Hey, thanks for the generous comment first of all! So the HE1000SE is a good choice for more layering and not being as bright along with more controlled over the Organic. Have you looked into the Tungsten DS yet? I've got a video on that too. That one is excellent in the treble for clarity without being bright at all. The other that comes to mind in that 2k price is this E3 I just covered here. Closed back but honestly competes with open backs for what it does too...tad bright at times but not like the Organic. It also would help to know what you are driving them with? Do you prefer planars over dynamics? I could also recommend some dynamic hps as well
@@Skeeb23 Yeah, about that amp I have. I only have the FiiO BTR7 AMP/DAC, lol. 😅 I'm getting the Wandla, Hypsos, and OOR stack this year, which will be one hell of an upgrade from the BTR7. I'm just saving up for it right now. I know the BTR7 is not the best paring with HIFIMAN headphones. Due to its treble not being tamed that well. It's what I have right now. It's been a great little AMP/DAC for the price. I switched the Moondrop MoonRiver2 AMP/ DAC Dongle with Apos Audio to the BTR7. I had no other option to switch to that because it Electrostaticly discharged all its power into my HIFIMAN Arya Stealth's. Rip to that amp/dac and headphones that were plugged in, where all broken from that. the bummer thing is that I only had The Arya Stealth's for 2 weeks max man. I waited a month ½ for everything to be replaced from complications. The Complications where that the Moon River 2 was discontinued the week apos got it in. They represented me with 2 other amp/dacs I could swap it out for. I chose the BTR7 because it was the best portable device. It was free. Because the warranty was still active Also, because apos is just the best.😂 Then I saw a post from HIFIMAN saying, "Representing to you the new Arya Organics." When I saw that, I asked, " Can I upgrade to this? they were very nice and said, "You can upgrade for 375 bucks." I took the offer without double thinking. And here I am now. Thank god that I didn't blow my eardrums out from that electrostatic discharge. I would have been deaf from that experience if I hadn't seen a blue light from my amp/dac (Static Electricity) that made set the headphones down on the table at waste height. I got ringing from that for 10 minutes, it was so loud. Sorry, I went a bit off course, but that's how I got my BTR7 and the Arya organics. Now you have a background of that crazy story. Well, I know I can't upgrade to the Tungsten DS because of its power requirements. Saw your last review, amazing, by the way, if you don't know. Another thing into consideration is that my HIFIMAN Arya Organic has something loose in the driver that's making a buzz. If Hifiman inspects it and that's broken, I'm still good on the warranty. Now I'll be a good time to upgrade to the HE1000se if it is broken, though. I want the HE1000se because I want a bit less treble and all the other benefits of it. I don't really mind dynamic or Planar. I would only choose Planar over dynamic just because of that Clear though bass it has. I want an open back so the E3 (even though it is very good) would not be in my taste because I like to hear my surroundings, my parents calling or something like that. @@heeku_ for that amp, id definitely recommend a planar headphone. The ZMF stuff I don't think gets the full potential out of that amp...but...Caldera closed would! Yes, I'd still recommend E3. Actually even the Liric 2 is good. The fit and seal can be picky though.

So I owned the Modius/Jot2 at one point. Based off of how well they performed as a pair, I would think they would do fine with the E3. Nice part about Jot2 is you get a different sound depending on whether you go the SE or XLR out.
That's a really tough one to answer. The DS Tungsten is soooo good. I feel if I could try it out on a sufficient SS amp I could answer that better. With my current setup here...equal...it's close. The Tungsten does have a smoother top end though that is like buttered treble to my ears.

VC is my closed back endgame, I dont even bother to listen those planars they cannot reach that timbre or punch of dynamic driver on tubes. Unless Zach will make Caldera closed or to be more interesting semi-closed I would not buy closed backs just because I own the best

Personally, I love both my E3 and my VC. They're both great headphones, it just depends on what you want. The E3 is much, much easier to live with day-to-day. It's less bulky and more comfortable than the VC. I'd also say that, overall, the E3 is better tuned... However! The VC on tube amps has a magic to it that I haven't been able to recreate with the E3 on anything other than the WA23. So, definitely a tough choice ahead of you - good luck!

Yes, the MOJO 2 works very well with the E3 for one suggestion.
Qudelix T71 is a good choice 500mW unbalanced, 2W balanced @32ohm. Plus it has the best EQ on the market.

How well does the E3 take EQ. If you wanted to pump up the bass to try to get to the ZMF slam.

The Adi2dac is fine for the E3. No need to upgrade imo. It's got your dac and an amp with enough power to get the E3 moving.

Closed backs are much more difficult of a "right sound" for people, I get it.

I wouldn't say ZMF VC has much "punch" tho
Personally, I love both my E3 and my VC. They're both great headphones, it just depends on what you want. The E3 is much, much easier to live with day-to-day. It's less bulky and more comfortable than the VC. I'd also say that, overall, the E3 is better tuned...
However! The VC on tube amps has a magic to it that I haven't been able to recreate with the E3 on anything other than the WA23. So, definitely a tough choice ahead of you - good luck!

It's really not that bad, but yeah I wouldn't recommend a cheap Dac/amp. My RU7 does ok with it. The new DC Elite sounds fantastic with it too.

Yep. Although I personally think "metamaterial" is not a great word, it is a set of resonators which they can use to tune frequency bands in the headphone.
