My favorite thing on Google Maps is my grandparents. Pre-2020, my grandparents were on vacation, in a small village in Italy, and when they came back, they told me about how they saw a Google Maps car when they were sitting outside at a restaurant. Their faces are blurred but I can now find my grandparents on street view in Italy, and I think that's awesome.
thats awesome. you should definitely save a screenshot of it in case it ever goes away !!
Nowadays you don’t have to. Google Maps specifically shows historic street view.
Hahah I remember Google Maps photographed my mum going back from shop and lifting a bag of potatoes 😂 and how mad she was when I and dad showed her this 😂
I was walking home from the store. Taling a shortcut trough a small street and you can just see me following the google maps car. Giving it a thumbs up.
I thought the plane that you listed as the potential missing Malaysian flight, had been determined to just be a plane in flight. Due to the fact if a plane went down in a jungle like that it's likely that it would be torn into many pieces, and wouldn't likely be visible on Google maps at all.
It also wouldnt be sitting perfectly on top of the trees as if all the leaves stopped the weight of a humongous jet plane
@@stmsin i mean the plane could’ve landed on the trees so it squished them
@@ssleepyluna That's not even close to how that works though. The trees would be torn apart along with the plane.
The google maps anomaly’s are literally just seeing a clothing pile on a chair in your room at 3 am with the lights off and thinking it’s a monster.

I like how him just saying “they’re probably just art students out doing art stuff” pretty much cleared up nearly all my confusion about the pigeon people
Actually, the pigeon people are a group of writers from a Japanese website called “Daily Portalz “. Apparently, they were gathered together on the sidewalk when they came across the street view camera, and they wanted to be in the footage. They didn’t want their faces to be blurred, so they improvised with the pigeon masks lmao.

2:20 White "scribbles" are just sunlight reflecting of metal roof, that are common in Russia. They've disappeared probably due to Google fixing glitches or updating maps in a different time of day. You can find those all over Russian towns.
It's not weird at all that google, or probably more accurate the home owners, blur out their homes when people start to flock to them to see the urban legend in person what ever it might be. Probably fun the first 20 times, not so fun the 2000s time.
"It wasn't weird until Google started *making it* weird".
Streisand effect right there.
i would put good money on that people kept showing up at the home, so they just got rid of it on maps to possibly deter future people from going.

I think that much of the overhead imagery is taken by planes rather than satellites. A few years ago, I was sunbathing in my garden when I saw an unusual plane fly over, quite low, and I could see that it had a large box underneath, between the wings. A few months later, Google Maps was updated and I could see my white sunbed in the garden.
A few months later could be anything not the plane
@@thebooboo3269 he was saying that the sunbed was still there when he saw it on google earth.
but that means they would've had to fly over every jungle in the world. so maybe some spots they use overhead planes, but satellites for remote locations.

I think it just completely lacks mapping data because nobody has been there, so the default color to fill the empty space is that black/mangled texture.
7:20, the house is probably blurred out for privacy reasons, maybe due to people going to the house in Google Maps and Google must've seen that as a privacy concern.

At 20:25, the enjured cow pic was taken in Brazil judging by the Crystal beer signs (A beer only sold in Brazil) and the road and houses architecture, but the exact place is quite hard to tell, as Brazil is quite huge, by the kind of houses, vegetation and the red dirt I would say it's probably in the country side of the state of São Paulo or Minas Gerais, but still you would need to search an area that would be the size of Germany and France together.

Most of those houses, like the one with the “creature” on the balcony, they probably blur out more over time as they attract more attention, especially if there are people living there and they don’t want to compromise the residence’s privacy.
Thought about this too but it’s still creeeepy
Im telling you it is probably something like a lawn chair folded up on something with a jacket on it. Ive walked through my house many times to see something similar and rush to turn on the lights. But it is always a freaking jacket, thank goodness.
so blurring it entirely out - doesn't make the house more suspicious and interesting than every other common house in the neighbourhood?
@@rickpickle2077 Actually I think some people got to talk with the owner of the house and they said it was a statue that they bought in some place, there's even a clearer photo of it and yeah it's a little weird but nothing else than that, I saw this on a video some weeks ago
No? no one made a deal out of it, there was no reason to blur it out of privacy.... unless the owner requested for it to get blurred

2:09 These are only light reflections. They can happen if a house has solar panels or roof windows or even with small ponds. They only recently started to remove them. The reason why I can say this with confidence is because my house also had white spots for a while exactly where a roof window is and our pond. These are also gone now.

Perhaps they made it that way due to the fact that mostly children are going to annoy with the "OMG GUMBALL HOUSE IM FREAKING"
This assumes they know. Google uses computers to stitch this data together, they don't have humans checking it, because the amount of images is insane, we are talking about billions of images. Things get removed if people report it.
to be fair i assume most of the blurrings are from people asking it to be blurred and that Google doesn't independently blur things without any requests. Like the gumball house was probably requested to be blurred by the house owners

@23:59 We used to go out to that spot and drink in the 90's. It's not odd. Roads end somewhere, especially in the desert.
Re: Kazakhstan "Pentagram", this is actually a Pentacle because it's a five-pointed star within a circle. Would be interesting to know how it was drawn, whether inverted or not. But traditionally, it's a symbol of protection/unity throughout the East as it's showing the five natural elements self-contained harmoniously.
He says “fuck you roof” with so much venom. I was kinda taken aback when he said it.
It's what I would do. There is a house here that has the logo of a local football club painted on the side right on a t-junction. So if you come from the road, you see the house at the end. Been like that for years.
