Can’t get enough of the album. Before I go to sleep at night some of the riffs keep playing in my head.
I might need to seek out post trivium album therapy 😂

Shogun is flawless but Matt didn't have his signature voice back then he sounded like James Hetfield a lot but now with ITCOTD Matt unleashes his own sound. For me this is surpassed Shogun

Maybe he sounded a touch like James on the Crusade I wouldn't say Shogun. Personally.. I don't hear it like alot of people obviously they were inspired to Metallica but that's as far as it goes for me

Sin and the Dead Men felt like a build up towards them finding the perfect balance which happened to In The Court of The Dragon, and like you said, everything just fell into place. It's just so amazing to see all of them in their full potential!

The last 3 albums have consecutively taken the number 3 spot for me, Sin then Dead Men and now Dragon is my #3. My 1 and 2 are still Ascendency and Shogun though & I think they always will be, even the bonus tracks on Ascendency are just ridiculous! But I couldn't be happier with how things have gone since Sin after they'd gone more streamlined & simplified on In Waves through to Silence in the Snow.
I really think of these 3 albums as a great trilogy.

For me and my money, this album is their best work. Shogun is my favorite album of all time, and Trivium is my favorite band of all time, but my favorite genre of music is symphonic metal. So hearing Trivium write an album that feels so much like Shogun, which was put out at a very important time in my life, and then put orchestration in it? This is literally everything I would want in an album.

Shogun is my favorite album of all time. But this album is just a masterpiece, for me it's their best work since Shogun, although I really liked each of their album.
I loved that they went for mythology again, I think this is why a lot of people see this album as a Shogun 2.0.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, and thank you for your reactions. \m/

This album gave me some Crusade flashbacks with the style of singing sometimes, not quite screaming, but not clean. Obviously lots of screaming on this album which is great. Ascendency is their best album IMO. But that one also has a special spot for me because when that album came out is when I became a fan.
P.S. conspiracy factoid I heard ages ago about the Crusade: I remember when it came out, everyone was shocked obviously with the 180 degree shift in singing style, everyone was saying Trivium was trying to sound like Metallica. And the proof they were using (other than Matt trying to sound like James) was the fist of the guy on the album cover of The Crusade is red, just as the fist on Metallica’s St. Anger album cover was just a couple years earlier. I never put much thought into that theory but it was big at the time.

I have a soft spot for shogun as well but at this point it doesn't really matter wich album is best. Trivium is such an amazing band, imo the best band of these last years. Great reaction video's bro. The first time hearing ITCOTD is a true adventure🤘

If Shogun is 10/10 for me then Dragon is really close like 9.8/10? Near perfection hahah. Also this album is more like Shogun continuation then the last 2 album imo.

Theres a lot of subtle background vocal parts that took me a couple days until I noticed. I think my favorite is coreys screams at the end of Shadow of the Abattoir

It's a great album and it's good that it can be argued to be there best. It's definetly up there with the elite albums of trivium which in my opinion are this , Ascendancy, Shogun and although maybe an unpopular opinion with some but also In Waves, everyone of those albums has things about them that set them apart. The other albums are all good though even the ones that get hate

I think the fact that fans are debating this as their best album less than a week after release... That shows how amazing this album is!! Even if you don't think it tops the ranking, it definitely earns respect. Such variation and awe inspiring moments including nods to their career (A Crisis being such a throwback to Ascendancy made me soo damn happy haha) but yeah overall I think this album for me is minimum in their Top 3 albums and tbh given some more time with it... I think it could top their rankings for me personally. May Trivium continue to reign supreme 🤘 can't wait to see them live next month!!! 😁

trivium have experimented while staying true to themselves and each album has been recognisable as trivium style...but since the sin and the sentence they have refined their sound and style to the point of perfection 👌
ascendancy is always the one I have constantly played throughout the last near 2 decade and still evokes all sorts of emotions and feelings, shogun is a close second and is still in my playlist and is close to perfection...but this time they have managed to incorporate the styles and ideas of every album and it all fits flawlessly and is so deep and attention grabbing...to take top spot..I won't know until maybe 10 years from now though I expect to be listening to ITCOTD as much as I listen to ascendancy now.
to me they are the best band on earth ..cant do any wrong in my eyes..Great consistency and amazing live..trivium will be my first favourite for as long as I live

I think pretty much everyone (including me) has bias towards Shogun due to it being nostalgic and introducing a lot of fans to the band. But objectively speaking ITCOTD is the pinnacle in terms of their technical talent and songwriting. ITCOTD has great variety, including stuff they really haven't made before. Abattoir and Fall Into Your Hands blew me away by bringing new elements on a 10th album. I don't know how many albums they're going to make in the future, but ITCOTD will definitely be respected even more going forward.

"shogun" will continue to be the best trivium album just for the time you've been listening to it. give this one time and you will realize that it is much better than Shogun, what's more, the alex bent trilogy is better than shogun, I'm not saying that shogun is bad, that's impossible to say .. but nostalgia for that album has mowed many people just for that. nostalgia

    • @nemesis8626
      @nemesis8626 3 роки тому

I wouldn't say it's just nostalgia, I still listen to Shogun and Ascendancy songs to this day and they still hit hard, I agree it could be argued this latest album is on par (or very close) with those two albums but WTDMS and TSATS definetly aren't, but that's just my opinion music is subjective after all, but Kirisute Gomen is there best song. And that isn't to say WTDMS is bad or Sin either

Gotta disagree with you on what the dead men say..feel like that's a down album for them like am ember to inferno level. It's not bad. Just isn't phenomenal like Sin and Court of dragon and didn't follow sin and the sentence well. But you are so right on in the court of the Dragon having balance. In my opinion, it's the most details oriented album they made along with the perfect chronology and balance

Idk about others. I personally found ITCOTD lacking in sound quality. I'm talking about the production quality. This album has so many good things like
' musicianship ' but for me SHOGUN is the pinnacle of how a modern metal band should sound like. ITCOTD can't match shogun in terms of production quality. The guitar and drums sounded far superior in shogun. However, ITCOTD has its own charm. Brilliant album anyways!
