We had that happen at Walmart in electronics one lady pull the employee to get something out of one of the cases then a other broken into the cages and stole about $8000 in stuff they put in a car seat box payed for it.

With how huge Home Depot is of course not everyone can do every job in there or would know where every single item is. Being nice and respectful usually gets you help either from that associate or them finding an associate who can help.

The problem with working at home depot is they think every employee should know everything about everything. From how to build a house from the ground up 100% by yourself to knowing the exact price of every single item at all times. Then they ask questions and tell you that you're wrong. Like why ask a question in the first place if you already know the answer? If you know I'm wrong, then you must already know and don't need to ask. My go to answer is "I've never owned a house so I don't know. You should look it up on youtube".
The problem with tips is the fact it is necessary. If people in restaurants were actually paid a living wage...most get less than minimum wage..it wouldn't be necessary
The gratuity story is wild to hear, I've been on the end of an included gratuity that WASN'T disclosed to us, and that it was the reason why our waitress refused to split the bill between our two parties despite us doing it in the past. we ALWAYS plan on tipping but on top of not being told when given our check, the service we got that night was horrible to boot. Our normal waitress was shocked hearing about it during our next trip after. That waitress didn't last long.
That 4th story is one of the reasons I'll never work in a tipped position, especially pooled tipping. If the OP is in the U.S. and isn't making at least minimum wage for the state or federal laws AFTER tips, that's a huge no no. The restaurant is required to make up the difference if tips don't cover it, and I suspect that may be happening here.
Also - it is illegal in most states for management to keep tips. i'd report them to the department of labor for a violation.
The way he talked about the chefs not deserving tips is insulting. I have been a chef and ran the kitchen by myself on a bank holiday weekend. It was manic and terrible. The servers got tips but I was the one taking the strain. Chefs deserve the recognition. We also have to deal with fussy customers.
you definitely deserve tips, but a tip pool is still unfair to the servers because they have the interactions for the most part tho i see where ur comin from since i was both at one poinnt or another, anyways in complete honnesty i think chefs should get paid more than the server and seervers keep their tips that they actively give the best service they can so they can meet the money requirements they have
The understaffed business with a tip pool is not simply taking advantage of the server he's likely taking advantage of the entire employee base.
He cuts costs by not hiring an adequate wait staff, he's probably paying the sole server who's likely working the job of 3 people or more the absolute minimum allowed by law for employees who make tips or commissions.
Then he makes the server pool the tips with all the front end and kitchen staff so they are also likely receiving less then minimum wage per hour...... His business is always full so it's not struggling for customers either there's poor management and the location is bleeding money due to wastage and or just general money mismanagement and the employees are simply suffering of working under unfit management or the business is running fine and turning a profit but management and ownership are driven by greed.
Paint Karen the time it took to argue with op is probably longer than it would take to get it herself.
If I were the cashier I would have been calling the manager to get rid of the Karen as soon as it was apparent the customer wouldn't let me do my job properly

I worked at a restaurant once as a dishwasher. One day, I was asked to help bust tables. I was excited to be able to do something different, so I said sure. It was crazy that day. A few minutes after I returned to my regular duties one of my bosses came storming over to me, asking me why I stole the tips from one of the tables. I told them that I hadn't. She said that she knew that I had. She took me to the table in question, which was still a mess. It was a table I hadn't even touched. The boss said you took it from this table, the waitress saw it there one minute and before she could get to it, the money was gone. What did you do to it. I kept insisting that I hadn't taken it. I was eventually allowed to return to my job. And told the cook about it. She was shocked. I honestly wanted to quit then and there. But decided to finish my shift. Later the boss came to me looking sheepish and said, "I'm sorry of accusing of of stealing the tips. I know someone as religious as you wouldn't do something like that." That just ticked me off even more. But I decided to not quit, stupid I know, I regretted that later. After closing a waitress apologized for what happened to me earlier and took some money from her pocket and offered me some of the money. I looked over to the side and saw my boss glaring at us. I turned down the money. When I did that the boss looked sort of happy. I honestly felt like that was a set up with offering me the money.

If you’re working a serving job and your tips plus wage for every single week is not at least minimum wage, quit immediately. If it’s not double minimum wage, think about quitting. Especially if you’re busy every day
I'm no lawyer but as far as I am aware tip pools would/should be illegal. Like according to the law once somebody gives you a tip it is considered your property. The company cannot under any circumstances take that away as that is theft. As the tips are your property. So I would reach out to a lawyer ask a few questions because this could be one of those things where the industry just tends to do it but it's illegal kind of like revoking your tips as a punishment. Highly illegal to revoke tips as a punishment as far as I am aware. So that may be something that they want to reachild to a lawyer about. Just to check the legality.
Grab a newspaper and start circling Apartments for rent and leave it laying around! When they ask, just say, "I'm nearly 20 and I'm thinking about my future, just seeing what options are out there!"...
Pretty sure the 4th story the business is doing something illegal. I’ve heard about tip pools before, but those are distributed between TIPPED positions at the end of the day. The kitchen is an UNTIPPED position and the US labor laws for that are completely different. That’s straight wage theft and wouldn’t be surprised if OP is making below minimum wage as tipped positions have base pay below minimum wage. OP should definitely go to the department of labor over this.
4th story
It is not worth your sanity to stay at that place and they are illegally dividing your tips. You should check into job and welfare services to see what the laws are in regards to that and what the laws are in regards to breaks if you are under 18 they have to give you a break if you’re in America.
Not only that if you have to bust your own tables, the back of the house should not be getting your tips not only that but the back of the house people get full minimum wage or above whereas servers do not get minimum wage because they do get tips, so that is straight up illegal And regardless of whether a manager hast to serve or not, they are salaried workers and cannot get tips that is also illegal. I would report them.
My daughter works at a restaurant and she tends bar and she gets to keep all of her tips for any table She serves and any person she serves at the bar, she gets to keep those tips. sometimes she can make up to $600 a night in tips alone so you are getting ripped off .

I've heard of having to split the tips with the bus boy in your area but not with everybody in the damn place and I've never heard of the chef or the manager getting parts of the tips those people are usually paid salary

Story 2:
I started to date my GF on November 12th 2022 (posting this on december 18th 2022). I had been single for 14 months, but she had only been single for 3 and half month, and has a 9 years old kid.
The only people who said she was starting to date a new man too fast were from her ex's (her son's dad) familly. Everyone in our family and circle of friends were genuinely happy for us.
And even if my family wasn't happy, I wouldn't care. I love this woman, and nothing will stop us from dating.
The last one had a psychotic break because he had a psychotic break. It's not family guy's fault, he has mental health issues that he needs to get taken care of.

Karen in the first story is stupid. There's no paint mixing machine at the lumber desk so even if op knew how to mix paint they had no way to do it.
It's okay to stay up one night, as long as you have time to catch up later.

I'd bet my bottom dollar that she was the wife of a contractor. I worked at Lowes for 2 years as a cashier and I can't tell you how many times I'd run into some god damn Karen/Kevin, it also didn't help that it was 2020-2022 but I know that Contractors and their "employees" are some of the rudest and most intitled people on the face of the earth!
Tips? A bit of a strange idea here in the UK. Why not just give servers a normal wage?
As a former associate to Home Depot, I can say without a doubt that Karen's are indeed that bad and even dumber. I remember one time that I was in the back, trying to help a new coworker throw out some trash, which the compactor was away from the gate leading to the back, and this woman, mid thirties early forties walked into the back and demanded we help her with light fixtures, which we didn't work in electrical and we told her this and that we'd be happy to call someone who did.
She didn't want to hear it and demand that we help her, even though we had no idea what the hell we were doing. Our manager, which the associates know as mama bear, came up behind this karen and demanded to know what she was doing in an off limits area and the karen told her that we were refusing to help her, which mama bear called bs and told her to leave.
Yeah, our manager knew when people were lying, especially when it comes to her workers and the stores departments and she is one to never bow and kiss someone's ass.
story #3: who the hell do her mom and sister think they are?? actin like whenever a marital issue comes up that its gotta be run by them first. wtf??? my parents dont even know jack crap about my love lives ever! why is it inconveniencing them in the slightest about the break up???

I also have a job which sucks the life out of me... literally. There have been days left where I am just a shell, and this has pushed me to depression and having to be heavily medicated. Unfortunately, as my job is phone based there are no tips. I hate to say it, but it does not get any easier and you should get out before it drains all life out of you like me... there is no other choice but quitting. I would quit too, but after several months of looking for another job, not finding anything, and being drained I just gave up and keep working this dead end life sucking job.

To be fair, Family Guy is all about jokes and pop culture references and hardly any subsense. Basically, junk food for the brain. At least I know how to get someone to be sick and tired of Family Guy or a way for me to become a sick Saitas.
