- I got the Team Associated Rival MT10 in the mail today and had to get it out for a quick rip. It was getting late, so I couldn't prep for a speed run or big air bash, but I did get some run footage with the last bit of light available. This 1/10 scale 4WD Reedy brushless monster truck rips on 3s.

Got mine in Monday... Waiting on my 3s battery to show up.. Been hoping someone would do a video soon! Grandson and I got Arrma Granite Voltages Christmas so I've been hanging out on that page.. "thinking" about a 3-4s.. couldn't get past the drive trains sounding like a meat grinder with a hand full of BB's thrown in there. Loving this Rival even on NiMh batteries!

Called ae and they could not tell me if the pinion gear needs to be changed to run a 3s lipo. Anyone know?

Was great till stk servo smoked in it. Reedy 13mg 1320mg is what they put in from factory. Going to send in for warranty, but ordering up a futuba or hi-tech.
Thing goes pretty good on 2s though. The radio is cheap also. Front wheels needed alignment out of the box. Engine gear mesh was off. Lots of loss screws. Guess I got a late Friday afternoon one.
Awesome vid as always bud. About to buy one of these man looks epic. Does it take normal size 4000 5000 mah 2cell and 3cell batteries? I only have big ones I used in my senton and hope these will fit or is it a small battery tray length wise? Cheers bro
I have one and you can’t fit hardcase 3s lipos that are 5000mah but you can fit hardcase 2s. If you want to run hardcase 3s then you can buy 20mmx250mm battery straps. The battery tray is 138mm by 48mm. With the stock straps you can run only 25mm thick batteries but with the 250mm straps you can run 40mm thick batteries. You should be fine with the stock straps if you’re batteries are soft case 3s but if their hardcase 3s then you will need the longer straps.

@@charliemoye4442 nice 👍 I am in atkinson, this rig is good in packed snow, or a couple inches. for it's size it is a blast. similarities are proline m.t, stampede 4x4, hoss, helion avenge. durable rig👋
@@JUICY_TIME right around Dartmouth College area here! I'm looking to upgrade to a good basher under 400. Its need to be rugged for I am tough on my stuff. Prefer aluminum control arms or at least the option to upgrade. Any suggestions? 4x4 is also a must around here with mud and stuff

twrecks116 tough trucks? I have 3 Team Associated SC10’s and a Team Associated B4.2, literally the toughest vehicles I’ve owned. Tougher that my Traxxas slash 4x4 and Traxxas slash 2wd
Thinking about getting one of these. Since it was basically another truck under a different name is their metal to replace the plastic parts like the rear drive shafts and all metal shocks? Any other monster trucks you would recommend in the 400 range other than the maxx. not a traxxas guy
For $400, I'm a huge fan of my Kraton 4s...with RPM arms. It just handles so well and jumps like a boss. 4S power in it is insane. Don't know about upgrades for this yet...but like any car you can find other shocks just based on the height of them. If you want metal shocks, it shouldn't be a problem to find them for it. Not sure about the drive shafts.

What kind of 3s battery could you fit in it? (for best performance)
I put a 4500 3s 50c pack in it and it kicks ass. There is still room for a bigger battery. This is my biggest pack. I run alot of shorty packs for my Enduro and RC10 gold pan.

I for one am glad that the Helion Avenge didn't just disappear. It was a great truck without a lot of name recognition. I hope that Team Associated picking up the platform can give it some extra life.
What plastic ramps do you use? Where did you get them.

No. I just kept tightening it down.
Double up on the servo saver collars. Locking in your setting

For the $ is this a better buy over the Granite?
It’s been months since I last drove the Granite because I sold it to someone who saw me driving it and wanted to get into the hobby. I know that I loved that truck, but its hard to compare when I haven’t driven them one after the other. Both are awesome. ARRMA Granite is really easy to work on and has great parts support locally for me...which is nice. But so far...the shocks on the Rival MT10 don’t appear to leak.
Kind of hard to call it a monster truck without the chevron tread tires. As the tires sort of are what makes monster trucks, monster trucks. Does look like it hauls though.
looks good but will it "rival" the granite? can you compare the radio, servo, performance, and durability to the granite once you have more time with it? love your vids keep up the good work man

They are just normal diffs: front, center, and rear. They are "sealed" so they can have diff fluid instead of only grease. Typical setup seen in many RCs.

smash rc there are models that sell with a battery and ones without. The one with the charger and battery is $50 more and comes with a 2S Wolfpack battery.

I prefer arrma's car, but after watching your video, I think mt10 is also very good. I'd like to hear your suggestion. Is it better to choose granite V3 or mt10? Sold this after getting the Big Rock. I liked the Big Rock so much...I also sold my Hoss and donated my Kraton 4s and Traxxas Maxx to a camp that teaches boys without father's how to work on cars and other technical things.

Associated is always upgrading to make there products better so they discontinue products faster then others as so does all the big racing companies unlike traxxas who has had the same exact short cours truck since its release. Nothing has changed in how many year it been on the market. The only thing they added in the 12 plus years its been out was an option to get a lcg chassis every thing else is the old tech. The bandit amd 2wd rustler is even worse lol. Im all for get rid of the old bring in the new
@@jeffbryner5355 Thats not true. I own a 15 years old E-Maxx and the latest version of it got new heavy duty differentials and bigger plastic-cvds. The steering hubs are bigger and need a bigger bearing too.
11 years ago I had a Stampede 4x4 and last year I bought the actual one. Even this thing got the new heavy duty differentials and the new one got the better VXL 4-pole brushless system. Old traxxas cars had a 5kg servo and today the smallest servo ist the 9kg.
The transmitter changed so many times in the last 10 years.
The 1:8 trucks had the MM Castle Creations brushless system and later the blue MM CC ESC and a Hobbywing motor and today they got the Velineon 6s crap ESC and a Hobbywing motor.
All 1:10 scale RCs today have better plastic CVDs than a few years ago.
@@NaWJeyJey thats just upgrades to outdated models. What im saying is when u buy a slash for instance ur going to have the same chassis design as u did when they first came out in early 2000's. I have a fist gen sc10 my sc5 or sc6.1 looks nothing like the sc10 or each other. The rustler 2wd or the bandit has looked the exact same since it was launched the rc10 and rc10t changed. If were talking about hop ups associated has a shit ton too for every model. Associated is a race breed company traxxas is a step up from walmart basher rtr company. They cannot hang with the big dogs in the race world because there stuff is outdated at my track they had slash only classes because they dont have the tune ability as do tlr associated teckno etc.. there fore would loose. U mainly see traxxas in the kids class at the races. You want to run down the street and jump a curb or a ramp sure there fine. I guess. I own 2 slashes and a 4x4 rustler thats about all there good for. Bashing.

Why do you say that? Have you seen any Helion Avenge videos? Many people loved them. This is based on that with a Team Associated stamp on it. I’m not sold on it yet, but it’s go me excited to bash it.

Tempting 🤔 i see a lot of similarities to the Mad Van. With that, it's easier to justify upgrades then ANOTHER truck that's pretty similar to the Mrs. This does have me thinking of putting a 3300kv bl set up in the Mad Van and the Kyosho aluminum upgrades to handle it.

But it does seem like a sweet little trucks that’s very fast on 33. I think it’s definitely going to be a competitor against the Granite blx and Stampede 4x4. Can a hellion avenge be found anywhere now at the lower price do you know?
@@longboardguy A new one might be hard to find nowadays. I guess some stores could still have them. Not sure. Used ones still show up occasionally at low prices.

Other than the older Tenacity MT, you'll probably have trouble finding a reputable brand sporting metal at this price point for a 1/10 truck.
@@nobodynoone3428 DHK Wolf 2, and RAZ-R2, just make them brushless add Dukono tires, Ill be adding 4300kv 3650 and 60 amp ESC both cost me 300.
@@rccarsandmusic2641 If that works just as good, great. I'm a bit weary of putting brushless systems in rcs that are originally brushed and I'm not too familiar with DHK personally. They just look cheap to me. Aren't they based out of China? How long does it take to get replacement parts?
