- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- A triple threat G-Machine! The Engine Power team takes an almost pristine '73 Split-Bumper Chevy Camaro and turns it into a triple threat car. It has to be competitive on the road course, the autocross, and the drag strip. To do all that it has to make big power, have an aggressive look, and handle like it's on rails. This is one car that will do it all.

I love all of these "Full Build" videos. I like this better than the various "installment" episodes!!!👌
I'd would be really nice if they actually showed more of their work being done.
I enjoyed this series! I don’t understand people making nasty comments about what they did. Everything can be put back to a tired car. It’s their property not yours. If they want to cut it up and put it in the bin that’s their choice.
Just can’t find original cars anymore like this 73. Such a clean original survivor, no more. I’m not necessarily a purist, but they could have found a different car for this build.
Have to agree with you on this. Same thing I was thinking. Even though this car wasn't particularly special it's condition was. As time goes on these types of cars become even more precious as-is.
@@Sofbitsame...a very very nice example 😢
The dream of making an as is restoration, engine rebuild and refurbish brakes, transmission. Maybe minor modern updates. What a car you would have. The thing they built is nice. It must be worth 1/2 million or so.
@@chrislind2 does it really matter now anyway...the communists are going to make gasoline ⛽ vehicles illegal in a decade anyway 😭
There's a lotta old Rusty gold out there, just the less desired models. Need to watch Adventures made from scratch. He get a lotta old stuff in and sells some of em!
I couldn't watch this episode the minute he said a rare 9.5 find and there about to add aft market parts to it I was shocked 😦 why would you ruin such a beauty ?!!! You can find plenty of projects that need restoring, but this icon should've stayed the same omg I am devastated.
This project is special to me. I've been building and autocrossing these 70-73 Camaro's for nearly 50 years now, starting right out of college (where I bought my 1st 71 in 1974). I have never heard of Street Rod Garage in Grant Alabama, although I live almost rock throwing distance from that town (Huntsville Alabama). I'll have to drive over there one day and check those guys out! Thank you for highlighting and promoting them.
The best part of this video is the fact they teach kids to fabricate and give them skills to go forward with in life.
This is why I love yall show you get too see entire build in detail. If an average person didn't know something they would by the end of the build
A full build is the only way to see these, and I also love that you give us all the info on your supply lines and service people you use for specialty job of build, so if and when I ever do a build, I have premium results with premium parts & services of the trade, excellent , com'on lottery win! Javi G.
I get starting with a clean car, but that thing was museum grade. Now it’s going to do the same thing but without the ability to say “look kid, that’s how it used to be”. I seriously doubt that it ever goes to get anything more than ice cream, let alone a time slip
It will probably get wrecked at the track.
Museum grade my ass. That's like saying your modern LT1 camaro, will be a museum piece in 60 years. No. The new ZL1/1LE maybe. This is a nice car but it was nothing special.
I was all into this build till I heard rear seat delete. So much for keeping it stock looking
Now a fuel cell? Ughhhhh
@@paulevans2153 it's called safety, dummy.
Beautiful car, I’d leave it as it is. But nice build overall
There is nothing wrong with a QuadraJet. People who complain about it don't know how to tune it.
I personally never liked them
I agree had more problems with holly carbs. The Quadra-jet kept getting put back on.
Good job, guys! Way to build a $100k car one infomercial at a time! All while cutting up a near-perfect original early 2nd-gen Camaro!
How many are left in this condition and THAT original (before you started hacking it apart)??? The answer.......one less! Literally the ONLY original parts you mentioned were being saved were the seats!
It must be nice doing a build using the best of everything, including a shop and tools any DIY hot-rodder would die for! Even one of the more diminutive pieces of shop equipment (the Trajan 125 band saw) comes in at $850.
Great for advertising products, which obviously gets you free tools, equipment, and parts in exchange, but that's not how it works in the real world.
I'm about 1/2 way thru this long video and have seen enough. Nothing innovative or terribly unique, just an unlimited budget. It's no surprise shows like this are waning in popularity. On the other hand, channels that show what DIYers can PRACTICALLY and AFFORDABLY do, like VGG for example, are exploding!
I'm sure the car turns out awesome! How could it not??? If it isn't NEAR perfect, I would consider this build an EPIC fail given the money, parts, and top of the line tools used!
But good luck on your next corporate-sponsored, no practical budget build! I'm sure it will be great too! Go ahead and hack up an original muscle car in amazing condition while you are at it! But if you are going to put together another Camaro, make it something MORE rare next time, like destroying an original YENKO!
Not everyone is poor.

Really enjoyed watching these series of shows back in the day. Absolutely love seeing this digest format on youtube.
I do think Mr. Speed Coatings should be wearing some gear from Mr. PPE. Powder coating his lungs for 40 years.
x1,000,000 on the PPE!!!
The Carbon Fiber parts are really incredible. Not a fan of CF, but it really woke up the look in this case. Even the wheels are amazing. Love that pattern. As far as hacking up a true survivor, well... that was hideous. Sorry, but that was nonsense. GM made millions of these, and you could have gotten one that was already gutted for way less money, and ended up with the same car. Great build, but the hack job gets a thumbs down. Shame on thee.
Is the kind of work I expect all companies to do with there chassie or front part. Great work! Love the workmanship..
Beautiful original car,
R.I.P 😢
I have been watching you channel for more years than I can remember. I have been building cars for over forty years and I love your channel. When I started building cars, we called them cars now they are called old cars. I am so sad that you found this absolutely perfect survivor and you are doing this to it. I respect the idea but there is a special place in hell waiting for you for what you have done to this beautiful piece of history. You couldn't find a junker to do this to? Well, I guess I will see you in the super-hot place. But I won't be there for doing this to such a nice car. Oh well I will just keep watching thank you for so much entertainment.
Wow! Beautiful find, Love the show, Love the attention to detail of y'alls work. you are correct about the interior condition, would like to purchase the seats and door plates, if you're intrested in selling. Please let me know.
Thanks and god Bless!
I was loving this build right up to the point we were told there would be no power steering, with those wide front tires and no front cowling you will need the incredible Hulk to drive that car on a road course or circle track. Put that car on a circle track with the setup you have now will make it a wall magnet. Hope you'll rethink this option.
Every single one of these builds is the same. Nine inch rear end, LS, manual everything. It's stupid, and it's overdone. I feel like Pro Touring has reached a point in recent years where everybody is copying each other's work. Then they put a hundred grand into the bodywork just to make it look unique, as if that will make it drive, ride, or handle any differently.
with the name puney i see why u need powersteering
@@TRAVDOG-pg3cm well with a name like TRAVDOG. I can see why you can’t spell or even copy the correct spelling. You’re out over you ski’s dude. But nice try and thanks for playing.
@38:00 not gonna lie, is the guy still alive? Holy shit dude, at least put a bandana and don’t breathe that plastic dust.
I've been a Camaro guy my whole life, and I love the 2nd Gen split bumpers models. That's a beautiful car, but, damn guys, did you have to start with one that was all original?!
Yeah very sad 😢
Nice to watch these master mechs do their stuff.
I have mixed feelings about this kind of build of a beautiful vintage Camaro. Take all that HP to the track enough times and it will inevitably get wrecked. I'd rather see it restored into an all stock museum piece.
This is so awesome! I do the same sort of things for my wife and her vehicles lol. And she knows enough to catch on that i modified something, but not enought to realize that a 1-200 hp diff from stock is pretty damn good!🤣👌love it brother!
I really miss seeing Mike gally on your shows. I think he was around from day one. Anybody happen to know where he went? My guess is he probably started his own shop somewhere in the Nashville area
A two plus hour video and you chump out with video of finished product awesome.
Watch as we destroy this beautiful classic.
2:25:27 guess the grease method did not align the rear spoiler holes well 😢 front hood gap looks big too.😮
A little concern for the guy not wearing a respirator while spraying the powder coating 😲
That guy was breathing that in and blowing it out like bill goldberg😂😂
Yeah, I'm not exactly Captain Safety,, but I don't play around when it comes to my lungs and eyes.
I wear a respirator when spraying and a face shield when using the wheel of death.
I worked at a tubing shop that made parts for everything from Corvettes to International semis and our maintenance dept had a face shield hanging on the wall with part of a disk stuck in it. The operator only needed a couple stitches in his eyebrow, but if he hadn't been wearing it. He would have lost his eye and shattered his orbital socket at the very least.
Well executed nicely engineered tastefully done awesome job guys!!
Awesome build, beautiful car, kinda wish it had been a beater instead of a pristine, original example. Also, geez, y'all told us the brand and model of just about every physical item visible in this video, lol.🤣
"We want to maintain that stock appearance" *adds rollcage*
PowerNation guys, if you read the comments, please know that many of your viewers understand what you are doing with a car like this.
A lot of people are upset that y'all are cutting up and fully changing this original survivor.
It's important to understand that a split bumper camaro like this LT trim is only desirable for its appearance. Its numbers matching, all original, one owner characteristics give it no value, aside from the excellent condition it's in. Put simply, it is not a valuable car monetarily or for a collection. Its value is either for someone that has nostalgia associated with a car like this, or as a great base for a cool looking project car. And we all know what they say about how much your nostalgia is worth to the buyer. LOL!
So, even though a lot of people are up in arms about modding and cutting this survivor car, it isn't a valuable model, monetarily or historically. Therefore, an excellent condition car like this is a great choice as a base for a project car, if you want to keep this 50 year-old beauty driving!
I hope everyone understands I'm not attacking anyone's opinion. I'm trying to express the reality of the car's value to history and finance, which is kinda low.
To reinforce this idea, I'll use my wife's 1974 F100, short bed, stick shift, 4x4 that was all original when we bought it running, driving, and registered. Yes, trucks like that command a lot of price, but not for what they were. Even though it was a cool truck stock, its value wasn't in keeping it all original, numbers matching, etc. Its value was in the great base it offered for the frame-off subtle restomod we did to it, and for her nostalgia for the '76 F100 she drove in high school. Yes, now it's fuel injected, with every aspect of the engine aftermarket except the original FE block (it was in great shape), 4-wheel disc brakes, big wheels and tires, a posi rear-end, and a modern sound system with a ton of dynamat. But, it gives her all of her high school nostalgia vibes with original suspension geometry, original bench seat, original dash, original sheet metal (with fancy new paint), and original drivetrain (except that rear end). The truck wasn't valuable as a survivor. Instead, it feels like her high school truck, but looks cooler, has a ton more power, and is safer (with power windows!).
That's what these guys did. They made their original, relatively low value classic car, suit their purposes (racing), while looking like the cool car it is!
Nice original car.
Blockhead is not here for a slice of the industry. He’s taking over it 😈
Man...awesome. I have a 73 split. I could use all those accessories brackets and ac components. Do a give away. Would love to have those parts.
This build happened in 2018, parts would be long gone.
I'm cool with starting with a clean example to build upon, but only when more care is given to the parts selection and fabrication. Its nice, but lots of UA-camrs build cars with more soul than this.
Colors gross too.
Love the Low key background trampled underfoot Music !
Wow great find. My favorite Cameron split bumper baby.
“This weeks episode we break into The Louvre and give the Mona Lisa some sick sleeve tattoos!”
Breaking some oem purist hearts !
Ive always liked this show but i gotta say I’m actually sick to my stomach watching them hack away at a classic in that solid of condition. They even addressed this and made it sound like they werent foing anything that severe. Terribly disappointed in seeing this. Why couldnt they have found something similar that wasnt in such hood shape.
beautiful condition should leave it as it is .not actually a barn find
I remember getting up saturday mornings and watching Power Block on Spike TV. Trucks Horse Power TV MuscleCar and My Classic Car Good Times.
No mask or nothin thats my kinda guy right there!!
Phenomenal build. Very tasteful. Good coverage of the build. Excellent product presentation. Not really fond of the recaps. Great job.
I don't know why someone would mod a clean original classic. buy a junker or modded classic then do all your mods to it. Let someone that wants the classic all original have it.
Because 40 y.o. cars suck
Maybe because it's faster and cheaper to buy one in good condition than it is to buy a junker and fix everything wrong with it
Screw power nation. Fucked up a perfectly good classic.
It was a 350 auto car not like it was a 427 4 speed car
I don’t know why someone would watch a show about modifying a car. Then whinge when they do.
Such a beautiful car but I have a question?
Why not clean up the front end clips & mounts? Clean up or touch up some of the plastic & paint?
“The best of both worlds” is LS up top, and LS on the bottom.
Lots of nostalgic people on here about old cars.

A 3-speed automatic transmission???
With all the modern improvements and customization, it's unbelievable that you wouldn't at least put in a 4-speed overdrive, especially with that 4.11 rear end.
I think the 3 speed automatic transmission is a compromise for drag racing.
@@toddsmalleyYou can have 3 speeds with a 6 speed manual

Yes I realize it’s mega dollar and has the hi po parts cannon shot at it , but what a great build. I just wonder what kind of 1/4 mile times it would generate. I’m not sure if we’ll see a follow up with that. I’d guess that of it hooked up it should hit 11s
Really love what you guys do with the car and with professionalism but if you could have commented less on the build and show more of the build.....
Rebuilding classics is awesome when you have a 50K budget
at your disposal..
your right on the money again i said 65-75 a barrel jr, its hovering around 73
Holy Crap that looks like the Camaro my buddies dad had and I live outside Louisville as well....
Well, I lasted all the way until they changed out the stock chrome bumperettes with carbon fiber ones. I have cringed as they destroyed such a beautiful original, but kept watching. The carbon fiber bumperettes are a bridge too far.
I've got a 22 gladiator but diesel with a tazer, I love the honest dead pan answer and explanation, taco if you're not really serious and want to ride comfy, Jeep if you really know what you're signing up for. I'm just about to swap my regular Rubicon speeding out with the 2" Mopar factory. Wasn't available when I ordered but got it for 1800 ish, there a mod depending on which one you want, for my 22, Fox were the shocks, there's a couple newer factory lifts that have different brand shocks, the brand escapes me at the moment but I don't have a brand loyalty, I had to be careful because I have the diesel so some of the front end is a little different
Should have a 6 speed manual, matte hood and something other than all chrome wheels.
My heart hurts to see a beautiful original camaro get destroyed 😢
That thing needs a t56 and auto in that is kinda a shame
I have my battery in the trunk and there is a solenoid there too, after cranking the long cable to starter is dead.
It runs under the car not through.
I love looking at a complete build like this, especially with all the handling and performance enhancements, I mean this was the full meal deal. But that vinyl!? Oh man I was around in '73 and it looked bad then and worse now lol. I know you're not paint and body guys but you added carbon fiber and a spoiler but left that nasty vinyl...SMH. 😆
I couldnt find lube locker gaskets online. Do you provide material provider addresses on this site?
It’s a shame that somebody couldn’t respect the heritage of a clean and well-maintained 1973 Camaro. There’s plenty of junkers that can be built instead of bastardizing a fine example of the Camaro heritage.
1:31:41 what is that thing in the center behind where the seat goes ?
Of all the Camaro's out there NEEDING a chassis and mods. Why in the world would you DESTROY a well maintained beauty like this! Ok, yeah, the paint is ugly... but it still is!
Crazy to cut -up that OG

"That's right...."😎
You guys know better than this... With the direction the automotive industry is going cars this rare need to be saved at all costs... there are so many CHEAPER cars out there that you could have used as your starting point, since your only reasoning for using this particular car was since "you guys aren't body guys" you needed something you didn't have to do body and paint work to which I understand but as a said get a cheaper starter car and use the 15-20k you saved to pay for body and paint work because obviously the chassis doesn't matter if its nothing but rust because you put a new one piece chassis under it.... I could keep going because this stuff fires me up... I'm going to go cry myself to sleep now.
At the end of the day does it really matter?? The Communists are going to deem all gasoline powered vehicles illegal so..😢
Oh that's adorable

I love the '70-'73 Rally Sport. The only thing nicer is a Z28/RS.

Nice video. Enough with the LS motors in classic iron though.
Gotta hold that tig torch there a little longer. Damn near no post flow on those aluminum welds.
The Hood Scoop Is Too Far Forward, Looks Not Right.
Its not a scoop
Its a warm air extraction vent, hense the far forward position, to draw air up and out of the radiator before it gets near the aircleaner. And helps keep heat out of the engine bay on road corse and autocross. There is a reason uts where it is.

That car should have been just left alone. Seemed to be a beautiful OEM car, oh it did get a repaint once. This build turned a great classic car to just a modified car. These guys are just parts reinstaller’s. They knew this and still did just that.
