- When I first learned about the soapberry tree I heard about the Western Soapberry tree and thought that was the only soapberry tree there was. I purchased seeds and started growing. After a while they stopped growing and started dying so I did more research and found that there are several soapberry trees that grow in the USA.
Western Soapberry tree grows in Mexico and Texas
Florida Soapberry grows in South Carolina to Florida
Hawaii Soapberry grows in Hawaii Island
Wingleaf Soapberry grows in Florida Keys, Central America and Caribbean Island
Sapindus Saponaria - Florida Soapberry grows 60 to 40 ft. - flowers in the fall-winter-spring. Flowers cream-white-gray. Full sun. 9 to 10 years before fruiting.

How do you get the Florida soap berry tree
@@HenryClayton-w9l I went to Native Nursery in Tallahassee. They don't keep them around, but will order them for you. I should have said that or put it in description.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
That’s an interesting tree, thanks for showing it throughout the years. Take care and have a blessed week my friend.
Thanks. I was so happy to get the right kind.
Great info!
Well live and learn, I always say. ❤ I hope the trees get homes in a happy environment for them. This was an interesting video. I didn’t know this plant existed.
Yes we sure do "live and learn" then just keep on planting.
You might want to look into it, there maybe one for your area. Long ago when I first heard about them I saw a video on them with well established trees that was in Arkansas if I remember right.
First time I have ever heard of these trees. I love how you were able to document the results through the years. Hopefully the Florida version will do well for you.
Thank you so much. The berries are used as a laundry soap. I really like them.
@@zaneymayMy Western Soapberry tree seeds arrive today in the mail. Im in Texas so they should do good here. I wonder if you can just throw berries in the cloths washer? I’d think they’d have to be crushed up first. I’m planting them for my beehives. I have hundreds of trees and shrubs I plant for them to feed from.
@@jamesbarron1202 you just need to remove the seed from the berry, before using it to wash your clothes.
I live in Kansas and would be happy to give them a home! From what I've read, the Western Soapberry should grow here.
Email me your mailing address. Information is on my about page.
I’m in Northern California, and I’m looking for the western soapberry. Do you still have a healthy tree available? If so I’d be happy to purchase from you.
I've sent them to Erica. Hope you can find it. Look for a nursery that sales natives.
