Your reviews are always my go to for information before I purchase a product. My latest SCX10.3 build is kind of a budget build with the 1080 esc, tekin 35t motor, amazon 35kg servo, and a Flysky GT5. I run it against a friend with a VS410 Pro with a Mamba X and 2850kv and a Futaba servo, and a Futaba 4PM. He has twice the money in his rig than I do, but i can run all the same lines he does. As always thanks for all your content.
Good to see Hitec in the review, I have about 20 hitec servos bought over the last 20 years. They build a great servo and they back up their product with a 2 year warranty. I had one go out after 3 years and I sent if for repair. I was expecting to pay about $30.00 and they simply fixed it for free. I also like they are based in San Diego and you call them for tech support.

Thank you very much for posting these videos. They are wildly helpful. I’ve been in the hobby now for 42 years and I’ve seen the progress of servos and with the advent of these standard size high torque servos, I’ve always questioned whether or not the claims are legitimate and your videos are tremendously helpful. Please continue with these videos. I really enjoy them. Please consider doing these on a yearly basis.

For steering I don't like to drop below .08/60 deg speed. The Savox 1258TG has been the most reliable and best performing for me so far in 1/10 scale steering at 6 volt. Good to see some other options and good scientific review. Thank you.

I have the AGF 62kg 16.8v variant. Sweet Jeebus, that servo is fast and powerful even on 12 volts. I put a video of it on the Team Corally forum, and instantly got interested questions. It's the first servo I've owned where i believe the numbers on the spec sheet. My first AGF servo also, and i can see why they are recommended so much. I heard that their prices have gone up lately, but i got a black friday deal, $78 after tax. That's only a little more than $1 per kilogram, and worth every penny. Bring your own servo arm though, the included aluminum arm weighs nearly nothing, and feels as strong as a kiwi bird's fart.
Thank you for your input and sharing this video. I own a Clodbuster and a Juggernaut, we all know how horrible their steering designs were. And imagine when they first came out, the standard servos back then were only rated around 8kg/cm if I’m not mistaken. I had a Solar Servo D772 rated at 26.5kg/cm @ 6vdc, and it still wasn’t enough to turn the wheels at a standstill even with aluminum servo horns in the axles. I now use the JConcepts BTA steering kit for the Clod, and the Solar Servo D227 rated at 13.5kg/cm @ 6vdc are enough to turn the wheels on carpet or pavement. So I could just imagine what these newer servos could do.
Oh yeah! There's the problem too where the spec sheet numbers on the servos is wrong and inflated. I have a 45kg servo right now on my Losi LMT monster truck and it's yanking those tires left/right.
RC Review if my servos rated at 13.5kg are enough to move the wheels at a standstill, then definitely those 45kg would throw them around easily. But I don’t think even your $200 Futaba servo could save the Clod from its flawed steering design. There are some purist out there who still uses the stock steering setup. My apologies if I’m off topic just now. So let’s get back to it, would you mind actually using the 1cm hole for those servos rated in kg/cm and the 1in hole for those rated in oz/in? I don’t remember seeing if you establish the distance of the hole to the center of the spline with the servo horn you used in the video. I hope I made sense. 😅

Hi there, thanks for your content. I have a question. I'm building a Kyosho Turbo Optima. The Kyosho LeMans 240s ESC has a BEC output of 6v. So I'd like to know what you recommend for a 1/10 buggy. I'm thinking 13-16kg, speed of < 0.12 s. Do you know of anything reliable for this job? Thanks again
Also like the Reefs 444/555 servos for lesser rigs; but, with their "Waterproof Submersible" ratings, the Reefs 500 RAW and 777 servos are my 'go-to' units for both power and durability in my high end rigs. Have not killed one Reefs servo yet!
great video and thank you for the great explanations! However, I was hoping to see my Savox brand servos on your list. They are amazingly smooth strong servos I use in 35 - 40% airplanes.
Is the reefs 444 good for a redcat gen8 I herd it was really good for crawlers so i bought one ,but now I'm worried I will burn it out after hearing it's mainly for speed and not torque.
As an owner of over a dozen AGFRC servos, I can confidently state that the "best buy" of their line is the SA75CVSW, a 3S-direct powered model spec'd at 0.09sec/60º and 584oz @ 12v... and it's 75 bucks. I own the AGFRC 66kg, and I can tell you-- no one needs that much torque. If you're looking 4S direct, you cannot beat the NSDRC RS-500B (0.09sec/60º and 500oz @ 16.8v) at a whopping $59.99.
Hey Francis, Did you ever test the Reefs 777 direct power servo. I am debating on my first direct power servo NSDRC RS800V2 or Reefs 777 to run on 3s. The NSDRC is apparently a lot slower. Was just wondering if you actually did a pull test on either one. I’ve seen your test on 555 which I then bought for a bomber, but I run Raw 500’s in my other 3 scale crawlers. They are super fast, but never did see you do a test pull on that.
Great, and very helpful, review Francis. In past reviews you have always been a fan of Savox, especially their 1210 series - what happened to change your mind? I’ve been running the 1210 and 1212 based on your recommendation and have not been disappointed at all. At this point I prefer to run the 1212 (which is rated at over 600 oz at 7.4v) as a direct connect via my ESC. I know that I’m probably only pulling 350-400 in that configuration but the servos run forever configured that way. Thanks for the continued great content.
Can we please get a micro servo review? I run a B13DLM titanium gear I'd love to see it compared to the emax lineup, the reefs 99 and maybe the AGFRC-A20CLS. My b13 is wired to the balance wire and runs 8.5 potentially on a full charge, so 9v torture test please.
Would you recommend any of these upgrades from the Traxxas Slash Ultimate servo? I can definitely feel and see its lack on day 1 of owning it. actuallly made me a little sad considering the price i paid..
The reason so many of the servos you measure are "under spec" is because your jig only measures the vertical component of a force being applied at an angle. There's a horizontal component of the force generated by the servo that you're not measuring at all. If you want to be accurate you should either align the jig so the link between the servo arm and the scale is perfectly vertical so there is no horizontal component to the force or use some basic trig to calculate the actual force vector.

Also I like the truck Style called the Dodge "Carryall". Similar style to the Power Wagon.

Thanks and keep up the great work.
No Promodel, hmmm! Why not the Reef's 299LP? It's blazing fast.
Hi
I'm replacing my reedy power 1523mg servo, i want a step up in durability as mine started grinding. What do you recommend?
Race truck Rival MT10
I have the new Holmes Hobby SHV650…. The thing is a UNIT!! Amazing power and silent!
What? Lucky!!!!
Also like the Reefs 444/555 servos for lesser rigs; but, with their "Waterproof Submersible" ratings, the Reefs 500 RAW and 777 servos are my 'go-to' units for both power and durability in my high end rigs. Have not killed one Reefs servo yet!
Reefs fan ftw!!!
Reefs raw 500 for my losi lmt, beast of a servo, also picked a 444 for my bomber. For smaller 1/10 I go savox 1256, 1257,and 1258.
nice list. I am a reefs guy my self. Raw 500 is my go to servo
There's a good one!
im really struggling to find a replacement for my fcx24 ive seen rampcrab but im looking for a metal case even brass case
and waterproof
great video and thank you for the great explanations!
Kindly could you please test the 9imod 51kg brushless waterproof servo?
Is there a worm gear RC servo ?
Hey Francis, Did you ever test the Reefs 777 direct power servo. I am debating on my first direct power servo NSDRC RS800V2 or Reefs 777 to run on 3s. The NSDRC is apparently a lot slower. Was just wondering if you actually did a pull test on either one. I’ve seen your test on 555 which I then bought for a bomber, but I run Raw 500’s in my other 3 scale crawlers. They are super fast, but never did see you do a test pull on that.
Have you tested the reefs 299lp?
Great, and very helpful, review Francis. In past reviews you have always been a fan of Savox, especially their 1210 series - what happened to change your mind? I’ve been running the 1210 and 1212 based on your recommendation and have not been disappointed at all. At this point I prefer to run the 1212 (which is rated at over 600 oz at 7.4v) as a direct connect via my ESC. I know that I’m probably only pulling 350-400 in that configuration but the servos run forever configured that way. Thanks for the continued great content.
My 1210 never settles (just clicks trying to get into place for some reason). Also, really noisy!
Can we please get a micro servo review? I run a B13DLM titanium gear I'd love to see it compared to the emax lineup, the reefs 99 and maybe the AGFRC-A20CLS. My b13 is wired to the balance wire and runs 8.5 potentially on a full charge, so 9v torture test please.
wow, love reviews like this thank u sir
Thanks for the review mate...very helpful👍👍👍
Glad it helped as that is always our goal.
Would you recommend any of these upgrades from the Traxxas Slash Ultimate servo? I can definitely feel and see its lack on day 1 of owning it. actuallly made me a little sad considering the price i paid..
Any suggestions for nitro truggy servo under 100 dollar
Hello there. Can i put the 444 reefs in a hpi savage v2. Without any other modifications? I got everything stock. I want to upgrade the steering
Thanks for the good info brotha.
I can't find the Holmes servo for sale anywhere.
Please do a review like this for micro servos, for the 24th scale crawlers! Emax, savox, mofo, ecopower, reefs: how do they stack up?!
