You do all these servo test but it's hard to remember which does which to compare, it would be great if you could do a round up at the end, and put them all in a bar graph with overall torque, sorted by power volt X amps, and also them sort for Oz per $ 👍
@@tonysweet9137 Why is it useless.. If you decide on a servo... a few clicks on the progress bar gives you the information about it. I'm just not sure why would anybody need a 47kg servo in a crawler.. other to use it as a boulder wedge in a quarry...That will break most crawler parts...

Have you seen the Boom Racing Python servo made to be axle mounted? It doesn't have tabs on the ends but has one rail down the side to mount directly to the truss or an adapter bracket. It looks very streamlined and waterproof with a 45kg rating. I guess you would have a problem trying to use your rig to test it but I sure would like to see how it compares. You guys are doing an excellent job and I thank you for spending the time and presenting it for us. Have you thought about how to check the calibration of your rig? I have found a very cheap, powerful, and fast brushless servo for 23 dollars!!!!!!!!!😮 Gx 42kg brushless servo on ebay. It is unbelievable for the price. It blew my mind... I've ran it at a race this past weekend, and it ran flawless. Very strong, and centered very well. Hope you reveiw it one day! Great video!

Everything was completely waterlogged. The Savox servo still works and as a matter of fact I still use it in that same redcat after rebuilding it. Testament to quality ?
My 1st RTR when I got back into RC was a Redcat Gen 8 Axe, and ever since Reefs has been my go to for servos, and Hobbywing for ESC and Motors. I have to Admit I have been thinking about building a purely Holmes Hobby crawler just so I can compare the two top dogs, at least from the word on the grapevine. Maybe on the SCX10iii chassis. Very good info. A video on how you put together your testing jig would be good too. Why did you not just connect the servo output directly to the fish scale?
You need to factor in the current draw. Some are drawing 8 or 9 amps to make that torque which they may not have when connected in RC system. Some also get hot and then perform a lot differently. In many applications it is about repeatability and accuracy more than max torque.

The savox squealed like it was getting killed. I find my various savoxes to be usually loud and annoying. Surprised that the spektrum, Hi-tec and tekin were so quiet! I know what i will buy next.
@@clickbaitfishing7787 The 170 did OK so I guess the 370 isn't too bad either. I know I am happy with mine. But it would be nice to know. The Reefs RAW 500 is another servo I would love to see tested.
What an awesome test! I actually saw this video a year ago, but re-watched it because I am looking for a new servo now. I noticed the hitec servo really had low amp draw, is it because of the regeneration feature? Also, does this hitec servo with regeneration (current back flow) feature cause problems with electronics like the castle esc’s or othe esc?
Having a torque monster is nice but if it's loud it's a hard pass for me. I have a Savox on my trx4 build and I can't even stand to drive it half the time it's so noisy. Usually I'm out in the woods trying to relax with my truck, last thing I want is some annoying buzz coming from a steering servo.
I bought the Powerhobby 300BW for my plane. I can say. I am impressed. Smooth and fast and powerful. Who makes those servos for them? $49 too. I do think AGF servos are low resolution.
Not in the test but I'm going to try the Reef 500 black edition in my Traxxas T-Maxx. Have a Savox SW1212SG and it's good, but sometimes it gets stuck.
With a bunch of them you see a downward trend due to heating up. It would be interesting to see how servos hold up with repeated pulls over an interval and where they stabilize. Something like 20 or 30 pulls, 10, 15, 20, 30 or 60 seconds apart and see how their performance changes over time.

I got a Savox 1231SG in my TRX-4. The traditional Savox hum is mostly benumbed by the stereo headphones I usually wear. I don't know if it achieves its claimed 444oz at 6.0V but it rarely suffers a 'stall' while crawling my 7+lb truck. It's NOT rated waterproof, but at $69.99 on Amazon, I don't much care being I live in the Ca. high desert. I may buy one for my RR10 Bomber if the OEM servo ever fails.
I seen you had a JX Hv servo in the line of servos to be tested in the video, but never tested it? I have 3 Jx Bls7132 HV servos they are supposed 5o have 32kg at 7.4. If you have this servo, can you test it and tell me the results? Thanks great video!
Hi; Thanks for sharing all the info and clearing up some of the claims out there. I looked at the SAVOX SB2230SG site and they run it at 7.4v. You did it at 8.4v @ 41.6kgs if I am correct. Hello, i have the hobbywing xr8 SCT ESC with the built in 15amp bec. Could that esc handle two high torque jX servos for a monster truck build? and I have lights too. thank you,
We can assume the comparison of outputs between tested servos but the values we should take at face value. Also note that if one wishes to invest in a stronger servo one should also consider the investment of replacing plastic steering components with metal ones as the strength of some servos quickly flog steering components to consistancy of soft ice cream.
What's the torque rating for the 2230 savox at 6v? I'm running the traxxas 2250 at 6v, because I don't want to harm the other servos, and it keeps stalling. I know your video shows it around 260 oz in of torque iirc and most of the 100$ servos you guys tested at 6v wouldn't be a worthwhile upgrade. I already have a jst lead off my trax-ass id plug to power the lights since I'm running a mamba x and would love to have gotten the shv500v3 but those are harder to find than a monk playing craps in atlantic city. And while I don't care for the savox noise, the mamba x is already loud and I want something reliable and strong. But I'm stuck at 6v because.
I have had 4 servos on my 60in rc plane and they have been pretty much perfect the centering is incredible. And they are the best built servos Iv seen yet check out Jon's website has some good stuff about his servos www.promodeler.com/
The Savox 2290 is supposed to be a 50kg servo, your test has it at 36kg! I wonder did yoy test at 6v? It can do 7.4v, maybe it would reach 50 at the higher voltage?
Probably the most in-depth test I’ve seen. But servo rating are in inch oz. a weight is hung from a one inch servo arm to see if the servo can lift it through the 60* sweep, how does that compare to a pressure sensor?
So servo torque rating is in oz/in from rest to stall, (with minimal movement). That is exactly what we are measuring with the pressure sensor. The arm is exactly one inch away from center and our scale is calibrated to measure ounces til the arm stall. For the 60 degree sweep, that is just to measure the speed of the servo, traveling from one end to the other. We're not measuring that.
RC Review But maybe it should be measured with a free weight as the strength of the servo at the start of the sweep could be significantly different then that closer to the end of the sweep as some servos start very strong but stall partially through the range of motion.
Shot in the dark with this question really need an answer PLEASE. Will running the blue Savox h2o proof servo blow my trx4 ESC out, even if I'm running a castle micro x and castle 2.0 BEC at 5.4 v? Appreciate any help before i install it.
RC Review haha no pun intended. Should go great with the 8247x servo horn and ssd brass portal covers on my tactical. Any brushed motor upgrades you would recommend or is the 21t titan motor good enough for general use?
Thanks for the video, small suggestion. The amp and voltage was blocked by the wording at the top or your hand. Example, on the Holmes Servo, I couldn't see the voltage. Thanks
That is what I dislike of the holmes hobbies ... I don't run 4S and I don't want a servo that it depends on the battery I run to have more or less power, even though I admit that not needing a bec is cool.
It seems like 8.4v is actually over the recommended range for some of these servos i.e. the Hitec and ProTek max out at 7.4v, but I agree, should have just said max voltage or tested at the common voltages and max
Thanks for spending all that money and running the test. I'm sure a lot of us benefited from knowing which brands are true to their claims.

Sure did enjoy this💎😎
So, sir the final verdict for the best servo in a scx10 III?
also, why testing at 8.4v if it's not recommended
to run these servos at that voltage?
any thoughts on the Pro Modeler line of servos? Great series and channel, thanks a ton:)
I have had 4 servos on my 60in rc plane and they have been pretty much perfect the centering is incredible. And they are the best built servos Iv seen yet check out Jon's website has some good stuff about his servos www.promodeler.com/
What steering servo would you use for the X max truck I keep blowing out the 2085X steering servo every other time I drive my ex Maxx truck
It would be awesome if you could do
SAVOX
SW2290SG-BE
The Savox 2290 is supposed to be a 50kg servo, your test has it at 36kg! I wonder did yoy test at 6v? It can do 7.4v, maybe it would reach 50 at the higher voltage?
I would like to see a test on the reefs raw500
Hi can you tell me which one I have to buy I have RC car hsp Wolverine 94111
Great test thank you very much!!!!
Shot in the dark with this question really need an answer PLEASE. Will running the blue Savox h2o proof servo blow my trx4 ESC out, even if I'm running a castle micro x and castle 2.0 BEC at 5.4 v? Appreciate any help before i install it.
Yay just purchased my Holmes hobbies shv500v3!
We won’t steer you wrong :)
RC Review haha no pun intended. Should go great with the 8247x servo horn and ssd brass portal covers on my tactical. Any brushed motor upgrades you would recommend or is the 21t titan motor good enough for general use?
Do the manufacturers measure with an arm or centered on the shaft?
They official spec is oz/in is 1 inch away from center.
For kg/cm, it's 1 cm away from center.
Thanks for the video, small suggestion. The amp and voltage was blocked by the wording at the top or your hand. Example, on the Holmes Servo, I couldn't see the voltage. Thanks
Yes, sorry about that. Every single servo was tested at 8.4 volts. Except the Holmes which was tested at 16.8 volts (which is their limit).
@@RCReviewChannel Thank you and really appreciate all your time doing these vids.
You should’ve just said that you’d be running them at their maximum voltage since the Holmes isn’t running at 8.4v. Great content other than that!
