I took my good friend who was kind & honest, to see this movie; he died shortly afterwards. The sight of him lying on his death bed still haunts me today with sadness after almost 30 years. I carried him to a dinner where his doctor was present. He was a decent person.
The image he is displaying here: disheveled shirt, standing totally still, and especially having no guitar adds a lot to the gravitas of the track. Perfectly executed.
Every time I hear this song or see this movie.... You're more than a little mixed up. Of course it's not Clarence, it's Bobby King...but I asked if HE thought it was Clarence. Also, this is 17 years BEFORE Clarence died. I have no idea where you're pulling your information from but you should start double checking your "facts".
When my dad died i didn’t get it, i didn’t get why he listened to these songs, however 10 years on in a wee town in scotland half way around the world in the darkest of times i get it i 100% get it he’s convinced me❤️
Being the father of daughter who struggles with an ED, this song brings me to my knees and I always break out crying. Every word rips through my ears and lands in my brain and reminds of all the struggles our family had to deal with. My daughter is in a good place now, but this has 9 year battle and it will continue, I hope anyone who is dealing with ED, I will pray for you and if you need any resources, let me know and I do what I can help.
Привет. Надеюсь с твоей дочке всё хорошо братик. Желаю вам всего наилучшего. Ты хороший отец. В трудные время не бросил дочку. Пусть бог хранит вас. Аминь❤
never lived in a big city...but Bruce's words make me feel exactly what it can be, the loneliness, the despair, the need to be loved.......this song leaves me with sadness...and love...yes ..love!
Was born in Philly, raised in Jersey .. that view they show over the bridge is always our first sighting from the Jersey side. Tell ya what, you gotta be rough & tough to make it work in Philly. This song leaves me with pride of belonging.
Well Philadelphia is known as "the city of brotherly love" so that's probably the irony of it but of course anyone can be abandoned in their time of crisis anywhere so it's universally relatable wherever you may be.
I think pretty much sums the majority of the music that the Boss has written. None more so than this song but still. If you listen to Born To Run or Darkness On The Edge Town without feeling something, well I just feel sorry for you.
I say it is the power of the lyrics that capture the heartbreak and the resignation of someone who is dying; it is that backbeat that stays in your mind all day and it Springsteen himself - you can hear the emotion and the anguish in his voice.
This reminds me off the feeling i didn’t want to be here but i was scared to die..The Boss highlights every emotion that everyone has ever been threw in 3 minutes and adds a happy ending to it
haha I love the crowd "BRUUUUUUUUUUUUCE!" I remember when I was a kid watching him and at first some people thought they were "boos"....BRUUUUUUUUUUUCE.
@Kimmerkakes. Yeah you're right, nice melody and good comments, how are you doing and how well is your country doing to combat the spread of corona virus? I can't wait to hear from you
I consider it one of the most beautiful songs ever created. The melody is incredibly engaging and touches the heart. It's a shame it wasn't explored so much musically in the singer's live shows. We have at least so few records of his performances on UA-cam. If I had the opportunity to list 10 songs for eternity: this song would definitely be related.
Lyrics: I was bruised and battered, I couldn't tell what I felt. I was unrecognizable to myself. I saw my reflection in a window, I didn't know my own face. Oh brother are you gonna leave me wastin' away On the Streets of Philadelphia. I walked the avenue, 'til my legs felt like stone, I heard the voices of friends vanished and gone, At night I could hear the blood in my veins, Black and whispering as the rain, On the Streets of Philadelphia. Ain't no angel gonna greet me. It's just you and I my friend. My clothes don't fit me no more, I walked a thousand miles Just to slip this skin. The night has fallen, I'm lyin' awake, I can feel myself fading away, So receive me brother with your faithless kiss, Or will we leave each other alone like this On the Streets of Philadelphia.
