I saw The Nylons with different variations in membership over the years. My favourite was when they played acapella, no mic’s in a church in downtown Victoria. I was also in Sidney BC for their last tour performance in Nov 2017. It saddens me to know that radio stns downsized so much, with such a tiny repertoire of one genre, that they wouldn’t play requests for them when I called in on requests nights. Canadian radio stns!! SOAB!!! Of course that would have affected Nylons livelihood as well. So I think mainly in their last years they couldn’t count on it to make a living, and chose to sing at their favourite venues on the goodbye tour. On their terms. It’s unfortunate that a young Nylon (Tyrone Gabriel) had been seriously ill by that time and probably could’ve used more money on a bigger tour. He passed away- barely into 2022. Hell, I would run a tshirt and cds table for them for free if I’d known and reached out to their mgmt. My favourite album was Four On The Floor. Hardcore fan that I was, I had to hunt down the Fabric Of Life cd that had only been available to order in Michigan I think it was.
Yeah, first time I saw these guys was at the Winnipeg Art Gallery. (The first of many) . Such an intimate concert. And so funny. These guys would not stop cracking jokes. To the point where their sound guy yelled at them to hurry up because they were doing a second show right after ours. I'm so glad I was at that show.
Used to be neighbour with Arnold Robinson In Toronto, Canada, before he passed away.... my parents bought his Mercedes Benz from him when he couldn't drive anymore... :-(
I remember their show at the Bathurst Theatre (circa 1981-3) when Paul introduced this song and there was a subtle but gaspy reaction from the audience when he said "him" and Paul turned and said "yes". An interesting poignant moment for gay acceptance in TO.
Yes, they just performed in Halifax. They will be touring parts of Europe next year and then they plan to retire from touring. There is only one member of the group still living and he is in his sixties. I love the group.
Paul Cooper, he was my uncle (my mom's little brother) He died 4 days after Christmas about 3 years ago, and every year at that time, it's always pretty sad. For other people he might have been a famous guy, but I miss my uncle. Sometimes I get on UA-cam and just read the comments and it brings tears to my eyes. We are very proud of everything he did in his life, miss him so much it's not funny.
J C he always seemed so happy and full of life. I read this was a song he didn’t want to do originally, but I’m glad he and the band did. My favorite version of this song!
DW3010 actually I heard it was Paul who wanted to do it, and they finally caved and it became one of their biggest hits...rightfully so! So sorry for your loss J C, I always idolized Paul growing up. He really was the soul of this group.
These guys are the reason i joined Jazz choir in highschool.
This is part of the soundtrack of my life! I'll never be able to listen to them without being flooded with memories!
So wonderful, saw them live 6 times! Quality long before Pentatonix and all the other acapella groups!
SO blessed to have grown up with this music!!!

I love the original version and this version. This song stayed a hit from the Spring of 1987 through most of the Summer.
Listen to this everyone. This is what real singers can do!
With just their great voices, they captured that song incredibly great. Wow!
This is so awesome to hear it live. I remember when this song hit the Top 40 in the US.
Incredible performance!!!
These guys were the best. I saw them every summer at Ontario Place.

These guys were the greatest

Aww, sad.

thank you Mr Salciunas
Indeed
Love this group , especially the dark guy, Claude! Fantastic performance, men. Thanks
Claude is not dark, he did have a dark beard in this video though. The late Arnold Robinson had a great stage persona. Arnold was black.

I remember them playing at University of Guelph before the one on the left died
Yes, Marc Connors was the first to go (1991). He had an angelic voice and stage presence for days.
The bass singer could pass of as the brother of Kool and The Gang's lead singer.
So cool, so hot.
I always thought this was a black group. I love the nylons.
You were 25% correct.
Who's the gentleman on the far right?
