I think Mark was the classic antihero that Australians' love. This is ingrained in the psyche of our country and the modern day version of another of our other great antiheroes, Ned Kelly.
Excellent analysis. Modern Australia was forged in blood and violence. Mark Read was one of many brutal characters this country has produced and put to film. I would highly recommend 1998 Australian film “The Boys” directed by Rowan Woods. Another masterpiece that captures the chilling tension and deadly violence that goes on in Australian suburbia.
Eric Bana is considered a god in Australia. It was Chopper that got him the role as Hulk. If Ang Lee hadn't fucked that up the rest of the world would know how good Bana really is.
