That’s a great question. I like to use moving baits if I can. Just love to search and then investigate that area when I get a bite. Love that 200 jerkbait!
I've been finding that going smaller with many of my presentations can get some bites when the days are tough. That 200 jerkbait has been a major player for sure!
One of my old friends always said to fish bellow the shad balls and always use a lure just a little bit different to catch their eyes. He said he learned that with a umbrella rig that the lower baits will get the bites and it seems like whenever you have 4 baits identical and 1 different that most of the time the 1off lure will be the 1 to get hit.
A great to use a fluke Jr is on a dropshot. I'm using it in less than 10 ft of water and it's one of the best way for catching bass that are chasing bait balls.
I cant get solid hook ups with a super fluke or fluke jr. I have 3/0 ewg and smaller hooks.are those the right size? I also got 3/0 round bend and smaller. I'm in a kayak and I use spinning rods in medium heavy and medium. Should you reel the line tight before you set the hook? What type of hook set should you use? I've missed more than I've caught so I dont use it much. I might give it another try though.
I normally use a 3/0 or a 4/0 EWG for a standard sized fluke. For a fluke jr., I'll go with a 1/0 or 2/0. And yes, I always reel down before I set the hook if there is any slack. I generally treat it like any weightless Texas rigged bait, as far as my hooksets go. Sometimes, you have to make sure the fish has the bait good before setting the hook.
@@LowBrowFishing Tried again today. Hooked up but when the bass jumped it came off. It never really looks like the hook sets good. Ill have to keep trying. Maybe its the cheap eagle claw hooks. Lol
@@matthall8378 I use Eagle Claw hooks quite a lot. Changing hooks might help, but I would still recommend being more patient on the hookset. When you react too soon you can either snatch the bait out of the fish's mouth or not get a good purchase and the fish spits the hook.
@@LowBrowFishing I'll! try that out next time! If not I'll try the 4/0. I think Im quick on the hook set. I felt it get tight and I set the hook right away. I figured they would spit it out but if it is like a texas rig and you have time then I'll let them take it. Thanks for the tips!
Do you prefer moving baits in the summer or do you like to go slow?

Thank you so much!
hot summer now Im using trick worm, texas rigged craws & senko worms from the banks...luv your video thanx
Those are great baits for summer!
Once again great video I'll be putting some of your tips to use tournament night this week 👍
Thanks so much for watching!
I like going small with my lures in summer. Junebug and black are great colors.
Small lures in dark colors can be killer!

A lot of times, it pays to be just a little bit different!
Small baits are all I can get bites on right now. I'm happy when I catch any fish
Small baits can work very well and get a lot of bites!

Sounds like a great technique to catch bass!
On the fishery yesterday. It was super slow picked up 2 with jerk bait. I need to try the soft jerk bait. Thanks for the tips!
Thanks so much for watching!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope your weekend is awesome!
I learnt a bunch from these youtubes. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks
You're never too old to try something new!
I like fishing slow most of the time. Ned rigs and wacky rigs work best for me from the bank.
Small and slow can work really well!
Small spinner baits very effective
Yes they can be!
Seems like they gotten used to the line thru treble head, now they are biting the finesse tush rig again with a 3.3 kitech.
Going just a bit smaller can have a big impact!
