Great seeing you posting again about the sawmill. Looks about as dry as W.Illinios has been. We finally did get 3 inches of rain last week after 8 weeks+ of no rain. Moderate drought here. Lots of "brush" left on that hill side too. You've worked hard to get that log down.
Wow that terrain you're working on will keep you fit that's for sure. Nothing easy about logging there. Great video. I think I'm going to look into making a skidding cone.
I've been in this industry for a long time, I'll have to admit I've never seen a skidding operation such as this. Camera's have a hard time actually showing the steepness of the terrain. I suspect the terrain was very steep. Very interesting video.
@@OregonOldTimer No of course just thought that a log arch would be a little safer. But be careful in the forest. follow along on your videos having the same band saw as you have 👍
If you can slide a couple of 2 foot pieces of PVC pipe over your long stops it will make turning logs a whole lot easier. But it's up to you. I do it and like it.
@@billcargile7240 I've seen sawyers do that. Much simpler than installing skateboard wheels on the stops. I tried that yesterday with just one scrap of two-inch poly pipe. Works fine. Now I'm checking my scrap piles for more plastic pipe.
Great videos....
Thank you, Ronnie.

It's not really hard work if it's also fun, which it is. Keeps me out of the house.
You're one tough hombre! That wood is making you earn it!
I should probably adopt your name, I think.

I'll be looking to see what you come up with. I made one out of a plastic boat gas tank. It didn't work.
Definitely a “long line” operation, but progress has been made!
Good thing I'm not in a hurry.

Yes, it's steep. Rolled the ATV once a couple of years ago in a moment of thoughtlessness. Sometimes gravity is my friend, but not always.
@@OregonOldTimer Gravity can be very unforgiving! For sure!
Maybe you should try a log arch after atv..
Don't have a log arch and don't have enough logs to justify buying or building one.
