That's STILL not his highest note. That was his Gakky performance of Unforgettable day when he belted out a D8. People go crazy over Dimash's range. However, to me it's what he DOES with his incredible voice that matters. He will one time sound like a musical instrument, and another time rip emotions right out of you. He's just magical.

You really must join the Dimash International Fan Club. There are people from all over the world there and it is a ton of fun. He was speaking his native tongue of Kazakh which is a very interesting language to listen to. Some of his very very best performances are his traditional Kazakh songs. They tell stories, usually true stories about his people and their past. For example, Daididau if I am right, was the story of a Kazakh man arrested and imprisoned by the Soviets for fighting for their freedom. While in prison, he was told that his wife had left him which was not true. The song is his letter to her and it is sad but insanely beautiful. Daididau from Bastau is utterly stunning. Ok, so this is the third edit but there is so much to tell you! On the Daididau performance, you will see him remove his ear piece and point to it, telling his people it is not working. He never puts it back and is singing the song perfectly without any ear pieces.

Confessa and Diva Dance is a performance from The Singer 2017 where he combined two short songs in one performance. Confessa is first, followed by Diva Dance. Loved your reaction to Dimash's vocal skills! Your "swallowed a flute" comment was priceless...I'm still laughing. The extremely high note is one of his whistle notes. He has the highest one of all in Unforgettable Day-Gakku.
Remember this is live and vocal coaches are always shocked by his vocal techniques and breath control. He does this song a lot Find Drunken Concubine. He sings a duet with Li YuGhang. He does lots of teapot or dolphin noises. He is actually working on his lower register and his online concert was brilliant. The Vocal King.
Dimash loves his Dears so much that he makes sure to do his best in every performance. Isn’t he wonderful? 😻 and that Riff 😱 I lost my mind after that 😂
This is my favorite performance of Dimash doing the Diva Dance. You picked well. Yes, he lands all those staccato head notes without missing any. That's really hard. Like hopping on one leg onto your garden path stones while spinning and always landing on center. On the second video, you hadn't heard his whistle tones before. All the previous songs just use fry, chest, mixed, head, falsetto and a sort of reinforced falsetto, which gets him up to about an E or F in the 6th octave on the piano. But his whistle notes go up almost another 2 octaves. He has done a planned D7 in a couple songs I've seen on YT and one semi-planned D8 (off the piano). I think that one in the 2nd video was probably an F7 or so - still on the piano. It's usually just the coloratura sopranos that do those whistle notes. It hasn't been part of male singing very often. But Dimash trained hard all through his adolescence, so he didn't lose his young boy's high range. I'm guessing part of his training was focused specifically on keeping the upper range that usually disappears in males after the early teens when testosterone thickens up the vocal cords. He had to train constantly to keep them from bunching up and losing the soprano range. And he definitely has the testosterone, as you can hear his low range has filled out some in just the last 3 years, which is typical for male singers in their 20's. The piano white keys go from A0 B0 C1 D1 E1 F1 G1 A1 B1 C2 D2 ... up to C7 D7 E7 F7 G7 A7 B7 and finally C8. I played an F on my little plastic recorder and it sounded pretty close to Dimash's whistle note, but a few octaves under. I know what his typical E6 or F6 sounds like from SOS, Sinful Passion, Olimpico or Opera 2 and it was higher than that. I've heard his D8 from Gakku, and it wasn't that high. I've also heard his D7 in his duet with Li Yugang and it sounded fairly close to that one. So that lands it at F7, but I've heard some of these YT recordings modify the original by a half tone, so I couldn't be sure it wasn't E7 or F#7 since I don't have access to the original audio. Great reaction! You don't know a lot of singing or music theory, but you have a good feel for what is clean and well done, what is easy, what is hard and what should ordinarily be impossible, and you are honest about it.

Ya that's right...I'm from Indonesia...it's called "merinding"...goosebump in English.. I'm merinding too..I've been 3 years followed Dimash's journey and since then I alaways listening Dimash sing all of his song with "merinding"...lol.
He did it in Gakku. He was however, asked not to do it again as it might damage his vocal cords. I always worry when he does that. We all know there's no limit to his voice and he proved it a million times. He should preserve his voice. I know he's so well trained and would propably know when not to hurt himself. Dimash loves his audience so much that he tried to sing at a Korean concert when he was sick. He didn't want his audience to be frustrated. He lost his voice and many of his audience cried and begged him not to sing. His generosity makes me cry all the time. There's no one but Dimash in this world.

Technically, the run can't be done in it's original form- even yodelers can't change pitch that fast. Every singer who's covered this song, including Di, has had to modify the run to make it physically possible.

I believe I read that Dimash has perfect pitch (aural) ... so'trying' to be on pitch is not a mechanical goal like it can be for other singers. For him, like many other aspects, pitch is a function of ability + imagination - he knows what he wants and the voice responds since it's habituated. Again, high notes when efficient take almost no air.. it's about consistency/flexibility of function (vocal cords) I think this performance is better than the Confessa/Diva Dance from 2017.

The fan cam performance was from Dimash's sold out solo concert D - Dynasty Shenzhen in China.....10,000 pax. Dimash has sung Diva Dance in Kazakhstan even way before his appearances on SINGER 2017 where Dimash sang CONFESSA & DIVA DANCE. Dimash again performed Diva Dance.....teaming up with a traditional Chinese Opera singer, Mr Li Yugang. Dimash is highly creative......he performed each Diva Dance differently.....giving fresh perspectives to it.....nothing robotic nor churned out like 'factory made'.
The whistle note was Dimash! His highest whistle note is D8 (off the piano) that was in Unforgettable Day at Gakku, he holds the note much longer on that one! He often does a whistle note in Unforgettable Day (a song Dimash composed at age 19), it’s not normally as high as D8 though, usually the 7th octave, so Gakku has to be the performance you listen to for his highest whistle (up to now anyway!)

You really must join the Dimash International Fan Club. There are people from all over the world there and it is a ton of fun. He was speaking his native tongue of Kazakh which is a very interesting language to listen to. Some of his very very best performances are his traditional Kazakh songs. They tell stories, usually true stories about his people and their past. For example, Daididau if I am right, was the story of a Kazakh man arrested and imprisoned by the Soviets for fighting for their freedom. While in prison, he was told that his wife had left him which was not true. The song is his letter to her and it is sad but insanely beautiful. Daididau from Bastau is utterly stunning. Ok, so this is the third edit but there is so much to tell you! On the Daididau performance, you will see him remove his ear piece and point to it, telling his people it is not working. He never puts it back and is singing the song perfectly without any ear pieces.

Confessa and Diva Dance is a performance from The Singer 2017 where he combined two short songs in one performance. Confessa is first, followed by Diva Dance. Loved your reaction to Dimash's vocal skills! Your "swallowed a flute" comment was priceless...I'm still laughing. The extremely high note is one of his whistle notes. He has the highest one of all in Unforgettable Day-Gakku.
Remember this is live and vocal coaches are always shocked by his vocal techniques and breath control. He does this song a lot Find Drunken Concubine. He sings a duet with Li YuGhang. He does lots of teapot or dolphin noises. He is actually working on his lower register and his online concert was brilliant. The Vocal King.

This is my favorite performance of Dimash doing the Diva Dance. You picked well.
Yes, he lands all those staccato head notes without missing any. That's really hard. Like hopping on one leg onto your garden path stones while spinning and always landing on center.
On the second video, you hadn't heard his whistle tones before. All the previous songs just use fry, chest, mixed, head, falsetto and a sort of reinforced falsetto, which gets him up to about an E or F in the 6th octave on the piano. But his whistle notes go up almost another 2 octaves. He has done a planned D7 in a couple songs I've seen on YT and one semi-planned D8 (off the piano). I think that one in the 2nd video was probably an F7 or so - still on the piano.
It's usually just the coloratura sopranos that do those whistle notes. It hasn't been part of male singing very often.
But Dimash trained hard all through his adolescence, so he didn't lose his young boy's high range. I'm guessing part of his training was focused specifically on keeping the upper range that usually disappears in males after the early teens when testosterone thickens up the vocal cords.
He had to train constantly to keep them from bunching up and losing the soprano range. And he definitely has the testosterone, as you can hear his low range has filled out some in just the last 3 years, which is typical for male singers in their 20's.
The piano white keys go from A0 B0 C1 D1 E1 F1 G1 A1 B1 C2 D2 ... up to C7 D7 E7 F7 G7 A7 B7 and finally C8.
I played an F on my little plastic recorder and it sounded pretty close to Dimash's whistle note, but a few octaves under. I know what his typical E6 or F6 sounds like from SOS, Sinful Passion, Olimpico or Opera 2 and it was higher than that. I've heard his D8 from Gakku, and it wasn't that high. I've also heard his D7 in his duet with Li Yugang and it sounded fairly close to that one. So that lands it at F7, but I've heard some of these YT recordings modify the original by a half tone, so I couldn't be sure it wasn't E7 or F#7 since I don't have access to the original audio.
Great reaction! You don't know a lot of singing or music theory, but you have a good feel for what is clean and well done, what is easy, what is hard and what should ordinarily be impossible, and you are honest about it.

I'm merinding too..I've been 3 years followed Dimash's journey and since then I alaways listening Dimash sing all of his song with "merinding"...lol.
He did it in Gakku. He was however, asked not to do it again as it might damage his vocal cords. I always worry when he does that. We all know there's no limit to his voice and he proved it a million times. He should preserve his voice. I know he's so well trained and would propably know when not to hurt himself. Dimash loves his audience so much that he tried to sing at a Korean concert when he was sick. He didn't want his audience to be frustrated. He lost his voice and many of his audience cried and begged him not to sing. His generosity makes me cry all the time. There's no one but Dimash in this world.
It´s really Dimash who made that whistle note.And he did it 6 seconds D8 live in Gakku.The song is UNFORGETTABLE DAY

In the movie it was partly computer generated because it could not be sung ... until Dimash.
Technically, the run can't be done in it's original form- even yodelers can't change pitch that fast. Every singer who's covered this song, including Di, has had to modify the run to make it physically possible.

He could tell one of the key in piano was slightly off while nobody did - when he was 5 years old. He was born with pitch perfect.

I believe I read that Dimash has perfect pitch (aural) ... so'trying' to be on pitch is not a mechanical goal like it can be for other singers. For him, like many other aspects, pitch is a function of ability + imagination - he knows what he wants and the voice responds since it's habituated.
Again, high notes when efficient take almost no air.. it's about consistency/flexibility of function (vocal cords)
I think this performance is better than the Confessa/Diva Dance from 2017.

The fan cam performance was from Dimash's sold out solo concert D - Dynasty Shenzhen in China.....10,000 pax. Dimash has sung Diva Dance in Kazakhstan even way before his appearances on SINGER 2017 where Dimash sang CONFESSA & DIVA DANCE. Dimash again performed Diva Dance.....teaming up with a traditional Chinese Opera singer, Mr Li Yugang. Dimash is highly creative......he performed each Diva Dance differently.....giving fresh perspectives to it.....nothing robotic nor churned out like 'factory made'.
The whistle note was Dimash! His highest whistle note is D8 (off the piano) that was in Unforgettable Day at Gakku, he holds the note much longer on that one! He often does a whistle note in Unforgettable Day (a song Dimash composed at age 19), it’s not normally as high as D8 though, usually the 7th octave, so Gakku has to be the performance you listen to for his highest whistle (up to now anyway!)
