Nail on the head, 110 extra dollars should buy a LOT more than that. The book should be hardcover, the acrylic art should be a real figurine, the playing cards are lame, the pins are...pins, there should be a soundtrack or something. There's so much missing from this for such a crazy price.
I bought one. If the game alone is $40, there’s no way the rest of the stuff is worth $110. I really wanted it because I’m such a fan of classic TMNT games, but if I could go back I would stick with the regular edition.
Yeah, let's add up the value of everything in this box (aside from the game) if it were purchased separately at retail: (approximately) Cloth poster $15 Pin set $10 Collectible cards $10 Acrylic diorama: $15 Softcover art book $20 That's only $70 worth of product. (and I'm being generous) Also, the cloth poster would possibly go for less, given it's small size compared to other cloth posters/flags, and the softcover small-sized art book would more likely be around $15 or less on Amazon. So possibly less than $60 worth of value here. Certainly not worth $110 imo. If I were to get one, I would just keep it sealed and flip it later tbh.
Definitely a cool set. IDK that its worth $150 though, that seems like a stretch. With the base game being $40 I'd prob be at like $79.99 - $99.00 tops on this. And this is coming from a huge TMNT fan. I wouldn't necessarily be upset or disappointed if I bought this but $150 is definitely a little bit steep.
Dude I just commented virtually the same thing. 🤙 Radical. It sucks that these were SO overpriced. The typical peeps are already trying to scalp them for way over $200 though and it’s making me wanna pick up that Amazon restock. Wtf is wrong with me.. ugh! 😑
This thing should not cost more than 79.99$ lets be honest, inflation definitely got this one which is sad. Cool trinkets and stuff but not at that price.
That artbook does look awesome! But yeah, I decided way back when to just stick with the $40 version, as much as I wanted the artbook, I just can't justify spending nearly 4x the price of the base game for it.
The problem is these things would be fine purchaseables on their own accord. But because they're tethered to a collection (a near 200 dollars collection!) They instantly become unexcessable to many. Anyway you slice it, there is not $150 in value here, even as a huge TMNT fan.
I refuse to order stuff like this from Amazon because they ship expensive collectibles in bags and paper like you said. Boxed corners or worse every time. It blows my mind that the biggest online retailer in the world can't figure out how to ship things without damaging them.
It's a sad state when most of the items in that collectors' edition look like something you could pull out of a cereal box or gumball machine back in the day. Might as well have thrown in a decoder ring and a connect-the-dots puzzle in for the hell of it. Outside of the book, companies really know how to capitalize off of nostalgia these days.
What I’m worried about is that companies could start making limited editions putting in 90% of stuff you’re not interested, making you pay a mad price for that 10% you really want
Truly thank you for this review! Honestly makes me feel satisfied that I only spent $40 instead $150. As much of a Turtle fan I am the collectors edition just doesn't seem worth spending that much on with what's inside
So glad you did a review of this limited edition. I'm glad that I only pre-ordered the standard edition. What I think Konami should done is release a full sized hardcover edition of the art book and include the game as a package deal for $70 to $80.
At 7:28 in the art book TMNT Turtles In Time Arcade it has a misprint/typo showing the release date as 1981, should be 1991. For $150 they should have better editors, I saw that right a way. 🤣
I love that you open your stuff. I’m the same way. I hate the idea of sealed games and CE’s being a barrier to playing them and/or looking through the CE contents. I’ll be picking my TMNT CE tomorrow.
No offense to those who love it, but the extra 110 dollars is not there in my opinion. They are gouging the crud out of fans. Maybe 50 extra bucks would have been more reasonable and still made them a profit. They made a greedy profit at the current price.
It's crazy how much these companies are charging these days. Gaming had become an expensive hobby. Even the $70 price of the average digital game is steep.
I just got the regular edition for the Switch and am loving it. As somebody who isn't as good at gaming as I once was all the options like God mode and unlimited lives is such a treat this should be the example for all companies of how to do a retro collection it's amazing.
I bet that cloth poster is made from the same composite material they make with the new kind of shopping bags that you see in all the big box and grocery stores
While not worth it, the poster being on cloth is a plus, because for the dragons lair collectors set, they put it on paper, the folded it about 6-8 times leaving white creases all over it. I was so upset because the dragons lair poster is my favorite video game poster ever. I sold the game set for about the same price I paid for it. It should have been rolled separately.
This is the first collectors edition game I have ever purchased at release. As someone who grew up in the 80’s and with the Turtles, I had to have it. I’m happy with the contents, although its probably not worth $150. On another note, they need to fix the online modes. I know it’s only day 1 of release, but I found them unplayable at the moment
If you pay 40 bucks for the game that means you're paying $110 more for the stuff in the Box it doesn't really look like it's worth it plus they sell that book at chapters for $19.99 and I don't think the rest of the stuff looks like it's worth 90 bucks
they grabbed you playboy. I think I'll be getting the standard edition when it goes down to $20 on Black Friday. kept waiting for more items to come out of the box for that 150 price tag haha. don't feel too bad though I waited over a year for my castlevania collection from limited run and when it finally arrived recently I was terribly underwhelmed for my 175 purchase. cheapness to the max. I like that poster they gave in your edition as well but that fabric material is such a joke. lord forbid they actually use a nice stock paper and legitimate ink for their commissioned artwork they're making a killing on. plus doesn't the art (and the customer?) deserve a little more respect than that crappy cloth?
@@georgehernandez2156 nah Im good with pachinko maker Konami. These types of collections always go on sale anyway I think they'll be fine. Not like they're not making money at $20 on 30 plus year old games as well which everyone else can emulate anywhere for free already
Dude Amazon shipped mine in a brown paper bag too. Dinged the corners and tore the cellophane. Ridiculous. Amazing needs to start offering a premium packaging up charge option if they’re not going to properly pack collectors/limited items.
Yeah, they use to ship everything in boxes. Now they are cutting cost any way they can while still making huge profits. I only order limited editions from Best Buy or Target.
Got the standard edition, loving this collection of classic turtles games on the PS4! Collector's edition is over priced a bit. I like the artbook though.
I got mines this morning. So far I really love the 180pg artbook and that's what sold me, $150 was steep but it's Turtles so I said the hell with it "take my money" plus this is my first collectors edition I got for the Switch, I'm happy with my purchase.
Reviews like this are why I enjoy this channel. One minute, this is garbage or has issues, next minute, joy that something was great. Tell it like it is, unlike other channels that think. everything is great and skimp over obvious flaws/shortcomings.
Appreciate it, i simply cant fake excitement or disappointment. You get who I really am here. I dont say everyone does this but I have seen plenty who skip over flaws that are obvious or just low quality type issues because they feel they have to justify their purchase to feel good about it or something.
For 150$, they could at least include a steel book case for the game and a detailed figure. The Mc Donald's happy meal toys won't cut it for that price lol. The book and poster are ok I guess.
The limited edition box art is fantastic. This set looks cool but not worth it for me. I would probably end up putting this stuff in a drawer since I don't have a gameroom or great space to display things right now. I'll get the standard but love the turtles!
I’ve obsessed over reliving my TMNT childhood over the last year, culminating in this collection. I’ve also spent about two grand on NECA Tmnt figs. :/
You have to take I. To consideration that the box art is all done by Kevin Eastman. The game 40$ the poster 30$ cuz it’s by Kevin Eastman the art book 30$ the pins 5$ each the diorama 20$ and the cards 5$ there’s your money worth
For 150 bucks they should have given you some cool ninja turtles toys or if not full size four and a half inch figures, then maybe smaller figurines of the Turtles, Shredder, April, Splinter, Etc
Thanks for your review. I thought about getting this Limited addition, but felt that the $150 price was too much for what you get. I’m glad I didn’t get it.
It's cool but definitely NOT worth $150! No CD, No mini figures. Most of this was paper or plastic filler items. The cloth poster is cool and the box itself but that's about it. This should have been $80 max!
The amount of content and special features the strategy guides, promo stuff, the comic book aesthetic, art, original boxes for the games etc in the game is insane and really cool! But for this special edition not worth 150 imo but maybe 100 at most but I'd say 80 realistically. They should have given us a figure and the soundtracks to every game for 150 imo. Nice unboxing man. I'll play with you if I see you on and you're streaming bro. I too got it for switch.😃 Unfortunately I have to wait til next Tuesday to get my collectors edition because I got it from target. But I have a normal copy too like you haha 😄
For $150, I'm expecting at least a S.H figuarts-quality turtle figurine XD to be included. But oh well. Just a turtles figurine, the game and an artbook would be good enough for me, for say, $70-80.
Not worth it i would have felt good at $100 Great video really enjoyed the unboxing And the unboxing was free lol i just got the standard $40 copy wall mart did me good
I wasn’t actually excited for the acrylic standee at all until your video. I think it looks very nice (although, yes, like another person said, it would be nice to have actual figurines instead of flat facsimiles.) The poster’s definitely getting framed and put up on the wall behind my TMNT Arcade1UP cab. Frikkin’ sweet. Also, I paid about $135 for mine, so the value proposition is a little easier to swallow.
Those pins are really nice, but if you don't use pins, they're a waste. I would put them on my bag that I take to conventions. Those tournament cards are pointless. They look well made, but what would anyone ever do with them? They won't even fit in standard, baseball card size sleeve for a trading card binder. At least you can put the acrylic stand on a shelf with other collectables. I would want to cut the clear parts around the turtles closer to the artworks to make it pop a bit more. For $150, they should have done a tighter laser cut on that design.
Idc what’s in there i saw the size of the box compared to your hand and this would be a hard hell no! 150$ this industry just gets worse and worse but more power to whoever enjoys it and thinks it was worth it… 39.99 standard it is for me.
if the ps4 version had the whole cartoon (the 1st one ) on Blu-ray and the 1st 3 movies (the new line ones) on UHD Blu-ray as part of package the $150 price wound have been gustfied.
The book was okay, everything else was not for me. The cloth print looked too garish to go on my wall, if it was like an original black white image printed on a 10x8 fine art peper then I'd be interested. For the price I'd be very disappointed.
Gently iron from the back with a towel in between before framing. Sadly the last couple years the book would retail at 50. Not justifying anything. Just used to work in a comic shop.
Lets be real even if all the extra stuff is worth $40 extra which it isn't it's all worth about $20 extra MAX you're still overpaying by MINIMUM $70 which is absolutely ridiculous, collectors editions are now an absolute joke, at least you used to get some nice shelfable figure or model but now what, you get some easy to DIY acrylic model with stickers slapped on it, what a joke.
I was so curious about the limited edition, I am so glad I didnt bought it. 20 years ago I really liked limited edition games, I had the dead rising 2, the ninja gaiden 2 for ps2. But guess what, I just looked into my games bookshelf, and the desd rising 2 when I bought I look inside the box and put everything baxk inside, I never used anything inside that box, so this tmrn limited is just to expensive for things I will not use. I am just very curious about the art book, I dont want to have ir, just to be able to see at all pages I just whish somebody scans it just to look at it. Thanks a lot for the video, so Ndidnt have to buy it.
It's a very expensive nostalgia trip, the base game is very affordable for the games we get but this one I'm not to sure. If we got maybe a retro figure or a blu Ray copy of the original movies or even a retro steel book. I think £100 max ,but if people didn't pay it I suppose it wouldn't sell , I dunno 🤔
They went for nostalgia price. I bought a limited edition of another game for $90 and I still felt it wasn't much as I like. I has the artbook, stickers, a pin if you bought it from the store, cards if you bought the first run, a cloth. So 3 things, and 2 technically free for $40. I mainly do it to support the company to keep bringing games because the type of genre is so niche.
Great content as usual but must say we need more remastered games like the Simpson’s nba jam nfl blitz Daytona USA etc because it seems like restalgia is something many plp want to purchase
Would love to have that collection don't know where I can pick it up though I'm in Australia we don't seem to get the collection anymore the limited ones I should say But it is a very nice
@Madlittlepixel While the $150 price is totally not worth it (I said that the moment it was announced), I believe I have a reason why the front Leo plate of the Acrylic Standee is cut the way it is cut. Not a justification, but something I noticed that would explain it. If you look at Leo's pose, he's holding his Katanas in his hands. The Katana in the right hand is pointed out toward the left side. I noticed (and you will too if you go back and look) that the blade of that Katana goes all the way to the left edge of the plate. If I had to guess, the designers extended the edge of the right plate to balance the plate as a whole. In doing that, length of the plate was extended beyond the length of the base. Again, not a justification, just an observation and the most likely reason why that plate was sized and cut that way. If the Leo plate had to be that size, they REALLY should have just made the base and the other three plates longer to compensate. But yeah, I agree with your review. The only two things that interested me in that edition when it was announced was the poster and artbook. Looks like I was spot on in believing that those two items were the only items really worth any value in that box aside from the game itself. This just confirms my intent to pick up a copy of the standard edition.
I appreciate the acrylic display set but it it's such a modern novelty that it takes away from the nostalgic factor of the whole package. Paper pop-out stand as an alternative is impractical but it would've fit that era a little more, and may even reduce the price even if just a little.
I wouldve mayyybe shelled out $100 for all that. The book alone is worth $30 or so to me. Everything else.. meh... $10 give or take. Thanks for reviewing. Saved alot of people some $.
At best, it should have been set at 79.99-89.99. I would of went for it but at the current price, no thanks. Total cash grab. I will look around for the art book on ebay or something. Only thing I see worth collecting.
is a nice limited edition but for $150? no way!!!!, maybe with the inflation going on? just kidding you overpay brother, but hey if you like it then that’s all that matters right, right?😂
Really... thats the question that you framed at the end of the video. Take the Cowabunga Deluxe collection... remove the game and say to yourself... would you pay $110 for this junk? If the book is dope... would you pay $110 for the book? I mean... do you really need pins, an acrylic display, some cloth poster and a fancy box? I mean... the cartridge itself didn't even look different from the $39.99 one, so they didn't even bother to differentiate that one from the one you buy off the shelf. This collectors set is just that... its for collectors that have serious FOMO pangs... that think that if they don't get it now, they will never be able to afford it later. So they get it... and put it on their shelf, and all is right with the world.

The book is the best part. I don’t like this trend of doing acrylic figure cutouts instead of actual action figures or statues. Such a cheap move.

Way too bloody expensive!
It's cool but definitely NOT worth $150! No CD, No mini figures. Most of this was paper or plastic filler items. The cloth poster is cool and the box itself but that's about it. This should have been $80 max!
A better value for this set would have been 75 bucks and they could have kept the acrylic set and pins. But I’m a TMNT sucker and spent the 150.
Good assessment. This is an $80-$100 collection.I don't know what that extra $50 is for.
@@jaymethysell5111 it's to fill wallets
Keep saying this. Bayonetta 3 Trinity. Comparable, to a extent, in contents. Price? 89.99
Nah. Crazy overpriced.
Damn I wouldn't mind getting this but I'm saving up for the Arcade1up NFL BLITZ cab...its a late birthday gift for myself
90 bucks tops. 150 is too damn high
Book is nice, set seems junky for $150.
For $150, I'm expecting at least a S.H figuarts-quality turtle figurine XD to be included. But oh well.
Just a turtles figurine, the game and an artbook would be good enough for me, for say, $70-80.
I pre-ordered it ... I live in Canada 🇨🇦 ....$199.99 .... for thr price I cancelled it, no thx ...bought the standard edition ...lol
Not worth it i would have felt good at $100
Great video really enjoyed the unboxing
And the unboxing was free lol i just got the standard $40 copy wall mart did me good
I was absolutely stoked to pick mine up today. Preordered all the way back on 4/18. The art book alone is amazing!
damn, that is nice, and here i am, debating if i should splurge $35 on the digital version since i am broke as heck.
Just now getting to the 3rd stage on shredders revenge but I still want tmnt cowabunga collection just another spoiled American gamer☹️☹️🎮🎮😁
This should be a $100 TOPS. It could easily be 89.99 even but it’s got that turtles tax.
That acrylic stand looks like a napkin holder! So there is that!
Considering the game itself isn't even worth $40, $150 for the collectors, nah
Should’ve came with a small statue & a steelbook … I think it’s a rip off . Presentation is great but it needed some more goodies inside
Didn't get the collectors edition but I did buy the game physically and digitally 😬
The book was okay, everything else was not for me. The cloth print looked too garish to go on my wall, if it was like an original black white image printed on a 10x8 fine art peper then I'd be interested. For the price I'd be very disappointed.
6:57 That Video Game Hand-eye coordination lol Nice catch buddy!
Gently iron from the back with a towel in between before framing. Sadly the last couple years the book would retail at 50. Not justifying anything. Just used to work in a comic shop.
Does the art book contain unique content that’s not part of the Turtle’s Lair section of the game?
That's what I wondering.
I'm beyond glad I got the Limited edition!
No way is that worth it. $60 to $70 max, anything more is ridiculous.
$150 is way too much. It should've been $100.
They put a $50 price tag on the words Limited Edition.🤣🤣🤑🤑
It's a very expensive nostalgia trip, the base game is very affordable for the games we get but this one I'm not to sure. If we got maybe a retro figure or a blu Ray copy of the original movies or even a retro steel book. I think £100 max ,but if people didn't pay it I suppose it wouldn't sell , I dunno 🤔
Thanks for taking one for the team. Gonna skip this collection but will be picking up the stand alone game.
Now I like the look of everything but the price is to much I would probably pay £75 for it not £145
They went for nostalgia price.
They should sell the book separately.
For what you get, I think it should have been $100-120 total. This coming from an owner of the item. Still, VERY cool as you said.
The acrylic looks neat but could have been better. The art book is nice but not worth $150.
Great content as usual but must say we need more remastered games like the Simpson’s nba jam nfl blitz Daytona USA etc because it seems like restalgia is something many plp want to purchase
NFL Blitz is ruined as the NFL outlawed 20% of late hits for all new remakes.
How the hell would I know? I can't even pay my bills on time 😂
Bro i think it’s your voice that keeps me watching, I don’t know. Not the typical nerdy swag or something.
150$ that’s a pretty hefty price tag But I do agree that art book is sweet…
I think the book could at least have hard cover.
Me too!
TMNT The Cowabunga Collection is on sale right now for 69.99 on woot. I picked it up, but i expect it to drop even further.
Only thing I see worth collecting.
is a nice limited edition but for $150? no way!!!!, maybe with the inflation going on? just kidding you overpay brother, but hey if you like it then that’s all that matters right, right?😂
LOVE the Eastman artwork dude is a literal god ALSO IDW TMNT is the best comic series available today for ALL ages
Really... thats the question that you framed at the end of the video.
