I share with you the VERY FIRST mistake I made as a new action figure collector and how to avoid it.

Hello! I am worry about this. I had the opportunity to buy the official 100% but it was a problem and was sold out. Now I was looking in internet... And Amazon has but damn they are so suspicious since the profile says that the figures have battery (wtf!); so my question is, what if I can clearly see they are knockoff? Can I ask for a refund i Amazon?
@@silverbeach85 Yes, if you can prove beyond a reasonable doubt if you were misled by misinformation. Explain your side thoroughly because the customer service rep may know zero about collectibles or legitimate vs. knockoffs. Remember, the customer service rep may be in India, Malaysia, etc.

Just purchased the knock offs and can’t wait for them to arrive. I can’t imagine paying the astronomical price that the legit ones go for. They look close enough to the real ones and look great on a shelf, so who cares? As long as someone isn’t trying to pass them off as legit, I don’t see anything wrong with it.
Nothing wrong with it at all.

To be perfectly honest, the knockoffs don't look bad at all, and they do look close enough the official release that they do display well on a shelf. They actually aren't a bad purchase at all as long as you're paying the proper price for them and know they're knockoffs when you purchase them. If the original seller hadn't ripped you off (the knockoffs are about $15 to $20 each -- currently), I would say just keep them and enjoy them. They honestly do look good. And considering you were actually excited when you first got them, that's pretty telling of how good the quality of the knockoffs actually are. For me, the fact that the seller tried to rip you off is what the real issue is here.
it’s going to be hard to notice the difference from a distant in a display amongst other figures… i mean, unless you were to stand them, side by side with their NECA counterparts… and who’s actively going to do that?
@@ADAM_COLLECTS i mean... why even get them if you're not going to get the real ones? nevermind who looks at your collection. hopefully you buy toys for your own enjoyment. i notice the difference after buying a knock off Raph and then a set of the real ones, the real blow the knocks offs out of the water.

@@twentytwo138 I will say that the Mirage Comic TMNT figures knock offs are great from what I've seen. I'm actually planning on getting a set of those. Once I add a few details, they'll be pretty much indistinguishable from the real Neca figures. But if you're going to get the 1990 movie Turtles, I promise that if you get the real ones instead of the knock offs, you'll thank yourself for it a thousand times over. Maybe some people can't tell much of a difference, but I can tell a HUUUGGGE difference between the real vs K.O.s. I get that the knock offs are way cheaper, depending on where or who you buy them from, but the extra cash was well worth spending to me in this case. I have a KO Raphael, and that's the first one I got, but then I bought the real ones, and even another set of the real ones, and Raph in disguise, so now i have 3 real Raphs and 1 KO Raph and the real ones blow the fake one away big time.
Even the knock-off Leonardo’s eyes look suspicious. It’s as if he’s thinking “I hope they don’t find out”. 😂😂😂
It seemed like the knock-offs had less attention to detail in the overall mold too. Like the veins weren’t nearly as noticeable on them as they were the legitimate figures. Great video man!
Good eye. I also forgot to mention the seams on the molds are in the wrong place (and more noticeable) on the KOs. Thanks for watching dude!
i don't think it's the molds, i think it's partly the cheaper plastic they use in the molds, and they have shoddy paint jobs so the details like the veins in hands, or the scar on Raph's face can't really be seen because they just don't stand out.

NECA has confused me on their release dates, I never know when something is coming out
You and me both, compadre. Facebook Collector groups are probably the best place for that info. Plus other collectors are there helping each other catch up.
I could also tell by the long necks on the knock offs and I saw another video that on the every box it says Michelangelo.
Just bought a set of KOs and I respectively have to say they look better than the originals. They are not perfect, but they seemed to improve on the original design. Head and body proportions are better, and they improved the paint job. The KOs shown in this video are not a good example. That was a bad batch. My KOs look nothing like this video. Way better. Even the ones you believe to be authentic look off for some reason, but maybe it's because the KOs have exceeded it?

I know the officials do technically look more movie accurate but I kind of like the look of the bootleg tmnt figures more when shown side by side
If your complaint is marked not as described eBay will refund you. You can get into trouble for selling counterfeit products. I’m glad you covered that because most people will mark it as just a return and eBay will not protect that
Another thing I noticed is that the fake ones all have "Michaelangelo" on the back of the box (the white text). Just like in the video at 4:50 - on the box of the fake Donatello, it says Michelangelo on the back.

When I was a child here in Chile, bootleg versions of all the toys was day and night compare to the originals. But know It's very impressive the quality of the fake ones. Great and very usefull video. Saludos from Chile!

my fake turtles came with their legs very loose at the waist.
Can anyone give me a tip on how to fix it?
You can heat up the joint with a hairdryer or hot water, pop the legs out and put a couple of coats of clear nail polish over the ball. After it dries, pop the legs back in and test. You are essentially building layers on the ball joint to make it fit more snug. Hope this helps
I have a set of the real movie turtles, but I would buy the KO just for shelve show. If the get broken I wouldn’t get so upset. But I 100% would be pissed if they tried to dupe me. So I’m glad you got your money back
Before I thought to try and get my money back I was playing with the idea of drilling a hole into the shells of the KOs for a stop motion rig, but then I got that refund.
I've just ordered all 4 turtles on Ebay for $10 each including shipping. They're not advertised as bootlegs, but honestly, for that price I don't care.
I got the knock offs not knowing. I was a bit skeptic because of the price but I'm actually really happy with them. I payed 12 dollars for each figure and they actually look really good. Free shipping too. If there's anyone that doesn't care if they are legit or not, and don't want to spend the money, I actually recommend them.
I wish I saw this before I got my knock off of Michelangelo.

Just got my turtles in today and I felt the same exact way as you. I was extremely happy and super stoked. But now I realize they are knock-offs. So I’m a bit bummed but I still really like them. But the paint apps are definitely noticeable. I was suprised at first looking at mine and the some of the fingernails were very sloppily applied. Then the extra “flowy” bandana accessory for some of the turtles wouldn’t fit the peg in the back of the head. I bought them from Walmart so it’s kinda crazy that they made their way into such a high corporate company.
I was just suprised when I started inspecting them more closely and just had a feeling something was off. So I did some research(just like you did) and now I understand and can see the differences. Luckily I didn’t pay ALOT for them. I pretty much paid 20 bucks a piece for them. But for how much I DO actually enjoy them. For 20 bucks I love having them on my shelf.

Well, you learned an age-old lesson, amigoーas I'm sure that many of already have at one point or another… ‐.‐ "Caveat emptor" seems to apply •especially• to collectors cruising eBay for "them 🔥 dealz" 😬 Don't feel too bad, though, man… Someone once got me for a Clan Leader Predator for like, 80 bucks. Oh, and you're better off •not EVER• buying from overseas, especially if it's from China. . . 😮💨
The knockoffs are probably a little better than the NECA ones. At least they're not broken right out of the package.
I have had that happen with one set...RIP BeBop and Rocksteady. I sent them back to NECA for a replacement only to receive a refund instead. womp womp
I remember my brother and I bought the bootleg Leo and Raph in 2020, but recently, I was able to buy the original 4 turtles, April, Splinter, Shredder, and soon, Casey.
Bootleg has a weird paint job and Long necks looking too not gonna lie
I actually pre-ordered mine from Neca. Ihave seen videos mine are original but my friend has a real Donatello and real Leonardo, but has the fake Raphael and a fake Michangelo. Yet he loves them just as much as me with my own. He's happy with his collection. I myself would mind and it would bother me a great deal. But we do need to ask these frauds out there, but it is down too individuals who see a bargain and like you said, these are a big part of you starting you're UA-cam chanel was a passion for those turtles.
I bought a knock-off Leo and when he came, his sword sheathes had been broken. The joints for the legs are also very very loose, but I had known that he was a knock-off and I bought him for like 14 bucks so I wasn't THAT disappointed.

4:48 There's actually an even easier, surefire way to tell which figures are knockoffs. Read the blurb on the back of the box. The box is for Donatello, but the blurb is talking about Michelangelo. The blurbs on the back of every knockoff box are for Michelangelo, regardless of which turtle it actually is.
Not knock offs, the short tail bandanas, are part one,
Part 2 has long bandanas, and of course the samurai version
And all are face interchangeable..
The yellow belly's are wall marts,
And the dark toned belly's are vhs versions
Interesting, I have the official ones but there’s no movement like you showed at 11:35. It’s pretty solid and fixed. Otherwise the painting is the same as original.

I received a fake from Walmart I just posted it on my story I’m so mad I am missing Leo and they sent me a fake. I had some sets in a shared basement and those were stolen so now I’m missing a Leo so I been trying to find him I had the two pack but I also had a single Donny I didn’t realize Leo was going to be so difficult to get a legit one it’s so hard to get now. Idk which ones real or fake on what I’m ordering

Those are so obviously knock offs bro. They aren't even mildly good KO's. I'm sorry you got scammed brother. Scammers and scalpers are to MAJOR issues in this hobby. I've been stung once myself on a trade. Just be more vigilant and let it be a learning experience.

I did reserch before buying and got it original NECA bought from germany without gamestop logo on the box.
You can also se it on the belts across chest with leo and don the belts look cheap . And the eyes chico the eyes never lie.

Keep checking the collectibles over by electronics...I have seen the 1990 Turtles showing up on the shelves again, probably because the TMNT III figures come with alternate head sculpts for the them
No knockoff turtles in the 2 packs best shot at authentic set are the 2 packs
I only have two; Leo and Ralph. But I've somehow missplaced Ralph after taking him out. No clue how. Glad to learn at least my Leo is real. Just need to locate Ralph so I can check him as well.
There's a Etsy artist that recreates the weapons in real metal. They're not cheap ($50) but they are high quality. Leo's and Ralph's are pointy enough to hurt, but they are not sharpe. I now keep Leo's default swords on his back while holding the metal ones. And looks soooooo much cooler.
I have all four and the only one with an issue is Michael Angelo he has Crazy off set eyes. And I checked the boxes all the Proper logos are there so, I'm confused
Sometimes the paint app can be a little off due to Quality Control failures. It doesnt always mean they are KO but the eyes are usually a giveaway.
Another way you can tell us the back of the boxes have the wrong turtle description. Like on Leo’s box is says Michelangelo and describes Michelangelo lol

In all honesty, the fakes look like the turtle on TMNT 3, very glossy, dominant spots and bug eyed lol I love these, I got my set when they released through GameStop, haven’t stopped collecting since.
I think the fakes might even look a little better than the third movie suits haha. I feel ya, I am hooked now

They shouldnt. What could have happened was that someone swapped the real figures with KOs and then returned them to the store. You see it a lot at Target and Walmart.

I got the official ones at my local walmart store just like the double packs you got, but my ralph came with casey and with his trench coat. Than anothee time i found the 2nd movie series and than before Christmas of 2023 i found the 3rd movie ones as well i got them all from all 3 movies, tbey are 60 bucks plus tax and you can also finde shredder with splinter only at the walmart local stores.

You are lucky, you were able to get the seller to refund your money. In my experience once you get all the way up to Ebay to try to resolve exactly issues like this you will loose. I bought an 17" laptop at one point but it was a specific model with specific cpu on it, and I received a 17" laptop with different model and CPU different from advertised. I lost and Ebay reason was I received a 17" laptop. To ebay there is no difference. If you did go all the way to ebay, you will loose since they won't see any difference between the KO and the original. You will need an "authority" to certify you received fake; whatever it means. Ultimately, to ebay you received TMNT action figures, and that is it.
Im sorry that happened to you, but I wouldnt take it as a reason to not try for the refund. Whether it was company policy or a crappy employee that screwed you over, Im sorry....that sucks
@@bblakeypoo That was the only option I had at the time. There was a time you can go to Paypal and they would oblige you right away, recently I had a different issue, where I never received the item, and in spite of all the tracking number and proof the item was never received, it would have took ebay 2 months to refund my money, afer a month I decided to go to Paypal, and Paypal all did was tack the difference and made it a whole 2 months (1 month on ebay case and another month with paypal).
Opened mines yesterday and wondered why the plastic was on them. took the sheets off and immediately seem all arms and feet were backward

You have to be careful on Walmart and Amazon as they allow third party sellers, and sadly they pull this kind of crap

I got knockoff one cause it was expensive and nearly impossible to find original one in my country. It is not too bad but again i don't have original to compare.

JUST do not buy fake. You want it, get what it deserves. Fake is not about 'looking like' ; it is about faking it.
i did the same thing with shfiguarts majin boo i paid 200 bucks to get a shorter cheaper boo with no box and im 45 years old and i cried not about losing 200 dollars because i got a pos ko

today the thought came- what if those companies have an agreement that they produce a and b class models of the same model or if they have production failure than they sort it out and in both cases send it in bulk to china, a seller sells it from there as bootleg?
