- Hello everyone I'm very excited to introduce you all to my good friend Dema! She just like me is a pharmacist but has taken a slightly different approach to her career which is why I wanted her present for this video! We talk stress, pre-reg, revision, pay and moral! Trainee teacher here and I feel like I can deeply relate to the pre reg year. The careers sound very similar in the personal conflict between them being rewarding yet taxing to the point of tears.
I have already gone to Uni and didn't do anything remotely related to the health industry but I watched the whole thing lol! I still found it really interesting. You guys are amazing!

I’m in my second year of uni and feel exactly the same about being mature beyond my years. Whilst it’s a good thing, it can sometimes be isolating because people are still so immature and I have little tolerance for it 😂 I’ve been watching you for years Barbara and have always been inspired by your pursuit to be an educated woman who can hold your own !! I feel like we are similar in many ways. Love your vids always xx
I found this video really refreshing to watch, because I’ve had the same kind of stress and anxiety regarding my work. I’m a newly graduated medical doctor and have been working for less than a year now. I have literally stayed up all night just thinking about the kind of advice I’ve given and what kind of patients I’ve seen during the day, just like you. Working in the medical field as pharmacist, nurses, doctors is a full time job - meaning that even when you go home you still think about the people you’ve met during the day. The mental stress is much bigger than the actual “manual work”. My mom has also asked me if this occupation really is the one for me (she’s tired of the late night anxiety phone calls 😂). I think that if I could chose an occupation now, I actually would have chosen something else, but at the same time I do believe everything happens for a reason and that it becomes easier with time. Even though the stress and anxiety is brutal you gotta remember that as long as you do your best you’ve done all you can! And everyone makes mistakes, especially in the beginning ☺️ Either way, it’s nice knowing I’m not alone in having those thoughts about working!

I never really saw us as similar in this way before but I completely relate to being more reserved and mature. It's funny how things change...I used to be super bubbly and outgoing but after it not being well received or not mattering for so long you get tired and do your own thing. Now it regularly takes the other person (usually a strong and confident personality) initiating and proving their interested in getting to know me before I open up (it's still extremely difficult to be vulnerable)!
I think we're just a more sensitive, reflective type which ironically comes across as cold or intimidating to others. People aren't what they seem! I'm so glad you guys became friends as it seems like you have a good connection!

I think pharmacy is so interesting! I am so bad at maths I'm glad I'm in dental hygiene 😁. I get to double check medical histories and learn about medications and ailments so it's like a tiny snippet of your world. Thanks for the insight into your career ❤️

Been following you since when u was first started UA-cam! I too like ur friend did a ‘foundation’ degree for 1 year and transferred to pharmacy once i achieved a 1st. I wouldve been preparing for my pre reg exam if my alevels went to plan lol. I’m now starting pre reg this july! Im so scared. I really hope this video makes me confident and happy in starting the year ahead.

I'm interested in studying pharmacy, I'm currently in year 13 taking my A-levels this year. I'm split between pharmacy and optometry. I work in an opticians and love it but i equally love pharmacy. I've spoken to so many pharmacists telling them I'm unsure which degree to study.. and they tell me to do optometry because pharmacy is in a "bad place" etc etc due to lack of jobs. I'd really appreciate if you could give me any advice xx
Fam 12345 job roles are always growing!!!! Im a trainee pharmacist to be in a few months. All careers are saturated. Not just pharmacy remember that.

I am looking to get into finance OR marketing. It is so difficult to pick what career path you want to go into! Such a difficult decision. Same as your friend where she was tossing up accounting vs pharmaceutical
US pharmacists have to get doctoral degrees though! you only graduate at 26 yrs x.x (unless you figure out you want to be a pharmacist in high school you can get into an accelerated program). Being store manager is considered a liability here lol
