    Best installation video i have seen, some other Tech channels remove the black pin cover before sliding the CPU in.
    Which is asking for trouble!!!

    Thank you, for this video, for showing us that it is NOT that hard to install the AMD's Threadripper process, you was the first UA-cam'er, beside MSI . that actually done it correctly and not putting your fingers oil allover the CPU under pads, nor did you drop it or cast it down on the table; thanks for respecting the technology.
    Raid out.

      +FunsterProductions It's not confusing. Do you have a driver's license. Driving a car is far more confusing and complicated over what we just saw. Over previous installation methods this just adds one or two more steps. Steps that prevent damage to the processor and the LGA pins of the motherboard. It's fine.

      FunsterProductions agree, it feels like over designed, and we haven't gotten to the thermal paste application problems yet

      lol, My friends go to me where is your ThreadRipper content, mean while I have 61 subs and no way am I anywhere on AMD's radar. And I have a hard enuff time just paying the rent. Let alone buying stuff just to do a video on it. Mucho sad face.

    Congrats! First and only reviewer to actually do it right from beginning to end. All others fumbled through it making many mistakes. Not one of them thought to watch the MSI video first and paid the price. Thank you for providing a video I can send others for instructions. Only one on the net so far.

    I haven't got goosebumps at cpu hardware... since the i7920 (still on my 2500k). Since we haven't been cpu bottlenecked in almost a decade.. going for sheer AWESOME is the only thing thats making me look up in the slightest.. and wow. They should give that case for all the 1k models, not just for press. Please keep going amd.

    I like that it seems pretty idiot proof, its always a worry that I'll clumsily bend a pin on the CPU or socket.
    Not sure about the orange bit that remains visible when installed in bracket, but I imagine most air & water coolers will cover that anyway.

    Interesting way to put the CPU on the mobo, to say the least. But it _does_ feel safely secured on the board.

    Hi, i pre-ordered the Ryzen threadripper 16 core and also the Asus ROG motherboard on Amazon, i don't have too much experience building pc's i basically work with 3d renderings and my question is:
    What PC tower Case should i get for this motherboards and it's other components?
    What will be the best Cooling system for this processor?
    And Do i need a specific power supply for this?
    Any recommendations ?
    Thanks in advance

    • @TheAtqthe30th
      @TheAtqthe30th 7 років тому

      fetB Difference now is the size of the processor and the amount of pins around 4000. More chances of damaging the pins on the motherboard due to the size/weight of the cpu. This should help beginners and I don't mind it even if it takes an extra 30 seconds and saves me from accidentally dropping the cpu and having to get my motherboard repaired/replaced.

    wow no more drop in at one time we had to futs around with spring loaded clips that were like mini wishbone suspensions and after that we had a CPU cooler that had what looked like plastic wall anchors to secure it to the mother board this looks so much easier and strait forward being as I will go with water cooling not worried about the tension just want a good fit to shed the heat as most users will be using some form of water cooling its just the way to go when the power goes this high but heat sinks weigh allot compared to a water block also wanting to mount the board horizontal likely in the core x9 case this is is better for allot of reasons if you go with an air cooler better for the CPU video cards becoming heavier these days will put less stress on the socket the same for m2 ssds when mounted flat on the motherboard and to some degree even when mounted like ram then comes the issue of air flow you do not have heat raising from one area of board to effect another with proper air flow better for the board all around here is the down side to a horizontal mother board mounting size of the case that is a big issue next is heat from other sources might be an issue like non SDD hard drives being mounted under the board in the core x9 case air flow from the front is split from the front air enters some goes over the board and out the top and back some air goes under the board were the power supply and 3.5 internal drives are then it can exit via the power supply or a fan in the back next to the PSU or out the side with an optional second side without a window default is one side with a window one without the one without is were the fans go but keep in mind the fans will interfere with the placement of your hard drives so 2 on each side and you have no issue with hard drives use 4 fans on one side and 2 on the other side and you have space for 3 dives and then no need for that many fans really you just want enough fan exhaust on the bottom so your not sucking hot air from the hard drives and reducing cooling for the mother board its not about supper cooling the typical 3 hard drives you might find on a typical insane work station most people do not have more then one hard drive todays big gamers are gonna have a min of 250 GB m2 ssd and 2 TB on none SSD storage while I would want 500 GB or 1 TB m2 storage and another 2-4 non SSD storeage witch would require one hard drive and what what I want to see more of is external bays for USB ports fan controllers and media slots as well as hot swapable drives internal drive bays are just no longer needed as much any more

    • @tomsims6237
      @tomsims6237 7 років тому

      on another note off topic we need cases with standardized fittings for liquid cooling hard ware radators seem to fit over fan locations pretty standard until you get into sizes above 2 120/240 mm fan openings so we have water pump and reservoir mounting issues were double sided tape seems to be offered right now or special brackets to adapt to fan mounting holes really we need a few options of 4 screw holes in the bottom of the case with an unobstructed clearance to the top for that big bong tube and hard rubber pads to isolate pump vibrations

    that does not seem to be a very wise torque procedure. after you flip down the processor retention bracket you should probably start all the screws a couple of threads and then torque them in order
    just my two cents, im a mechanic and i torque things all day long... so what do i know

    • @Deathvoltaje

    • @bratan_archer
      @bratan_archer 7 років тому

      other tomperson it's possible to spread dozens of tasks over 16 cores, but near impossible to make the most demanding task so easy to process. In games one or two tasks are always very demanding and you can't parallelize them.

      Actually it is extremely well engineered. LGA pins of X399 motherboards are very fragile, and this mechanism is intended for minimizing the risk of damaging any of the pins. Important when you factor the price of an X399 motherboard.

      Your old 775 P4 also didn't have over 4000 pins and a massive surface area that needs a large amount of mounting pressure to ensure proper pin contact. Intel's slightly smaller LGA3647 socket also uses screws for CPU retention so this is nothing new.
