As a casual player of weiss, when i first went to a cardshop near me that hosts weiss I was pretty surprised at the local popularity of weiss. I think the interesting thing about weiss, is that its super lowkey where it seems more like people kinda dont make it more than what it is, whereas many people end up making Magic or Yugioh or Pokemon a lifestyle. (And with weiss, luckily due to it being not one of the most popular tcgs playing it via webcam or tts is pretty popular and is very doable if you are looking to have some fun with it. Just join one of the discos and you can go to the races.)
I've been playing Weiss for over 7 years and selling for 5. We typically get 10 - 20 for weeklies, outperforming Modern even. We even vended at the VG/WS regional this weekend and made real money.
I bought an angel beats Weiss trial pack in 2014 at an anime convention cause it looked cool and I liked the show. My friends also bought some starter deck type thing and we all had intention of learning to play that weekend but instead we just got drunk and partied. Turns out those are now pushing $130 USD lol. I should have just kept it sealed - i cracked it to look at the cards lol.
If they been around for 10+ years in a industry that's a graveyard ot everything but the big 3 than I think they know what they are doing. They are just seeing nonorganic demand by investors like rudy and are being punished for adjusting to it.
Most players or collectors buy based on their favorite anime. So by printing many anime titles they want to attract new players, they are advertising a lot every new product on popular anime sites. I don´t think they will print a lot in quantity but lot of titles, especially now when anime is becoming mainstream. Upcoming series like Chainsaw Man can sell like crazy. Stores will get picky they will be carful about what to buy and what not to buy and things they won´t buy are more likely to go up in value, but there are other factors to it.🤑
In his previous Weis vid he also mentions that once people hit the case card, they dump the rest of the unopened boosters....thats why he asks for the sealed case in this vid. SO thats what the retailer who was wanting to sell to him did.,,,which was why this retailer didnt have any sealed cases....
Nope, he said R-W-B-Y instead of pronouncing it Ruby! That proves he's an idiot faker! See, no one can ever be happy because everyone looks too far into things instead of looking at the basics.
TLDR: Weiss’s Bushy bush is printing non stop and hurting the product with oversupply and reprints. Rudy hopes they’re “smart” enough to stop, because otherwise he’s gonna get crushed on his huge speculative bet on cardboard boobies. So he takes to his YT channel to criticize them into stopping. And only buy sealed cases. Because the product is flawed and you’re screwed if you don’t. But that’s just context.
There aren’t reprints, sets come that’s it They’ll make another set like AoT but it isn’t reprints it’s the final season stuff So it adds on to earlier sets but yeah not a reprint
you should rename your video to "collapse of weiss schwarz EN", because the japanese side is doing very well even with the pandemic. I guess americans doesn't have anime culture and seiyuu culture very close to them. so they don't know what to chase when opening boxes. in japan, signed WS cards are highly sought after, so sales have been very well.
A buddy of mine went to Japan recently and weiss is the game there. He said it was at literally every store he saw.. And the anime market is only growing in the United States so it's not like the game is going to die anytime soon even if things do drop in price for a while😊
Weiss is really nice. Their product looks very good....much nicer than the zoo of products coming out. And their product line is familiar since it's tied to popular anime, comic books and popular feature enhanced characters....
Every time I see a comment section talking about Weiss it's always filled with new people complaining they can't buy boxes of an older anime series they really like. But now that they are finally starting to reprint sets the collectors are complaining that their investments are plummeting in value. Reprints benefit the players which I believe is the best thing Bushi can do but of course you can never please everyone and so they're stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Reprints also benefit the company that sells the sealed product. If wizards didn't have a reserve list they could secret lair an allied dual land set and an enemy dual lands set at $100 each and sell tens of thousands of them.
Reprints are always a good Thing. It is your own fault if you are collecting for value. If you are speculating you have a high Chance to get f***ed over by Reprint announcements. I am happy that a lot of scalper got what they deserve. I dont see any negatives if you are a collector. I mean you still have your collection even after a Reprint.
they only do a reprint if they still have the licence or if they have recently renewed the licence to make a new set for the franchise. You won't be seeing any reprints of sets like Angel Beats unless they have a really good reason to buy the licencing again so it won't help most fans.
@@audrisampson again, the JP licensing system is entirely different from what is used internationally. It's very cheap to do domestically and often times isn't even required to be exclusive to one company at a time.
unfortunately Overlord is getting reprinted still. trial decks reprints have just been announced last week for Date A Live and Kaguya. I don't see reprints stopping anytime soon.
Hey Big B, nice to see ya here on Rudy's channel. He may not know everything about weiss, but he definitely believes in weiss from an investment standpoint.
@@neopabo none scheduled at this time. they normally do reprints if and when a subsequent set comes out. since hololive english members did not get a set, there should be another set coming out in the future. nothing officially announced. that is just what we are thinking.
@@noahcooper6979 yep. nice they made the change. not sure if they can do that with every set since aot2 had multi-colored sigs. it will hurt the base playable cards of course but some sets can use the reprints. that said I can't see them stopping the reprints.
Secret Lairs anime tig ol bitties edition vol. 1... Ur welcome Hasbro, I'll be waiting for my check in the mail. Jk we know they are only allowed to print shirtless thirst trap males now.
Thats what's Rudy is implying in the video...that retailer already opened his cases, once he hit the case cards, he stops and sells the boosters....so if youre hunting for case cards, dont ever buy loose booster boxes, and here is Rudy vacuuming up supply of sealed cases.
Really really good video. I just starded 2 month ago collecting weiss and schwarz tcg and i just got to the mapped theme. So big thanks for the confirmation about my theory and concern!
I only buy individual Weiss packs/boxes from stores where I know they purchased a full case directly. Never from a private online seller. Example: I bought 5 Sword Art Online 10th Anniversary packs from a Newbury Comics and pulled the Leafa SP. Extremely lucky and not by any means a benchmark, but its good to know they're a legitimate source.
I started collecting this game back in 2010, with the non-official Disgaea set. Then, kept collecting in the English market and pushed the game to try to gain traction. Alas, after nearly 5 years, I saw that there was near no growth. The game was designed to be a one purchase and done model with their official tournaments being neo-standard (one license, example: Fate/Zero with Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works) with no mixing of other licenses (example: Fate/Zero with Attack on Titan). In addition, the model in which cards were distributed (1 signed card per case), made purchasing single boxes or packs a big gamble. Think buying boxes is bad, try buying packs...it's worse. I backed away. While I loved playing the game, it didn't really take off. If you were not ready when a set released, you'd likely never get it or the singles to make a decent deck because that ship had sailed too after a few months. It's not like other card games where stock is still around. I believe the issue is the limited print runs of sets with the intent to push out more sets more frequently. It's a method of scarcity to drive the primary and secondary market. When thinking back, Weiss Schwarz didn't always have signed cards in Japan, and the unofficial Disgaea Trial Deck didn't either. The other disconnect is that not every set released in Japan is released in English. Older sets, which could still be popular like Lucky Star, are just not printed. Again, it might also have to do with power creep and non-mixing of sets. Another factor could be getting signed cards approved for those sets. It is a mess of a situation. Other games are following suit with chase cards, like the Final Fantasy TCG with their full arts, but they differ because the game is growing and boxes still retain most of their value even without those chase cards because their other cards are still valued. Mixing of sets is a thing in that game, so players are incentivized to keep buying sealed and singles.
“It’s like deja vu around here” 😂 Reminds me of how you always say you could just post the same market videos from a few years ago without mentioning the date and it would be the exact same
reprints are needed for the game to survive. reprints don't really effect value on signs all too much due to them not being exactly the same.
