- Maiden voyage of a Stirling engine powered paddle boat at Half Moon Bay, California, in 1997.
Engine built by Jim Tangeman from California, USA. Water cooled and heated by LPG.
Boat is a wooden dory.
Now there is a happy man and his colleague. I love it when he asks, " Where are we heading to?" and the answer by the brilliant engineer was , " I do not know, it moves!" Now that is what life is all about, loving what we do. Congratulations .
Great piece of work, Jim Tangeman should be justifiable proud, good job!
Nice to see Jim's Dory when she was sterling powered.
She's now steam powered with a lamont boiler
Nice Stirling implementation !
Very nice working
Very neat.
My first question would be how we stop this thing?
excellent video sir, would be very interested in the bore/stroke numbers, flywheel weight. I too have built an engine i believe nearing these proportions and am trying to realise the optimum D/P size relationship to connecting rod length. my engine seems to run at the same rpm as this one, but,, displacer weight and fit make HUGE differences in the temp that the engine starts at,,insight plz?
Excellent! 😊
awesome.. im working on one too.
very nice
very cool!
Great job on that project. Have you made any modifications since 1997?
I have a paddle wheel boat myself, however, it's powered with a conventional engine.
Interesting paddle boat! Greetings from paddlesteamer CALYPSO.
super práce
powerful!
that is awesome
Chitty chitty bang bang lol
Super!
Hi, it looks great! What about consumption?
What happenes at the end "oh oh" hit the peir jokes

Stirling Engines are great.
If you want to get the Plans To Build your own Stirling Engine
And Combine it with Solar Power - Go to Google and search for

The wheels stick too far into the water. Most of the energy is going to push water up and down.
I love Steam punk !!!!
