@@lunikgjata5877 Porsche stopped making diesels last year, but BMW do indeed make some nice diesel motors, even if I prefer their petrol counterparts.
I do love this! I once drove an A7 3.0 TDI with 326hp and it felt glorious. I can't imagine how awesome it must be with an electric turbocharger!
And omg this car is beautiful! Every inch looks so good, it somehow looks so elegant yet sporty, it could easily be an S8!

@@IzajResGS 5.2L V10 is unreliable. Early S6 (C5 models) had a 4.2L V8NA which is somewhat reliable
A Grandtourer with a big diesel - I am okay with that. But I want my sporscar rev to 16 milion rpm. Also, i really hate those fake engine sounds...

This is very informative and the best produced, most professional video I have seen so far as I stumble around the comedy playlist on this channel ... I loved the revulsion to shutting the trunk.. I did not know that was a problem for status-obsessed car owners.
I also have a 7 litre 6 cylinder diesel, it has a top speed of 50km/h and it pulls like a beast in front of a plough.
Honestly, this should have been an A6, considering it only has 9 more horsepower than the A6 55 TFSI.
@@KevinTheFirefighter No it hasn't. The last-gen S6 had 450 hp, 117 more than the most powerful 3.0 TFSI A6 and 124 more than the 3.0 TDI Competition A6. It was also much quicker than both of those cars, with the 0-60 figure being over a full second less. This car should've been the new A6 3.0 TDI Competition. Calling it an S6 is ridiculous. The C5 Audi S6 had similar power and performance 20 years ago.

Thanks for the funny review! I am driving the A6 3.0 TDI Quattro Competition for almost three years right now and will receive the new S6 in October as a replacement. Really looking forward to the quick reacting electric charger as the current engine takes a little time to get on speed. However, the 3 liter diesel is a charme on long distance German autobahn trips - enough power and speed but still very low fuel consumption. And the noise level above 200 km/h is really calm!

What’s the fuel economy in that thing? And since it’s a mild hybrid, does it come with regenerative braking?
I don't mind the diesels in the S models, but I have concerns that they have less horsepower than their predecessors.
Yep there are a lot of roadworks on the autobahn network. I recently drove from the middle of Germany to Tuscany.
Guess where there were many roadworks and where there were none? In Italy and Switzerland were basically none and as soon as you entered back from Switzerland into Germany, you entered a roadwork.

Sports car seems a bit generous imo. Cool car though, I believed once they did that diesel panamera.
I don't really like it tho. It's just as fast as a 13 year old Audi S6… the fake exhaust is just embarrassing and the Diesel doesn't sound as good as a petrol. Why don't they do it like BMW does. There you have the option to take a M550d or an M550i. Whats funny is, that even the 540d is as fast as this Audi. So there are even 2 more powerful options at BMW before you have to choose the M5

Be thankful the hood release is mechanical otherwise you would not be able to open your hood to replace your dead battery
sounds much better than I thought, but is nearly 100hp down from the old s6. Such a shame when u remember the predecessor could do a sub 4s 0-60 and this now takes over 5s

I like what they've done but I seriously think that the engine should have been a V8 and that maybe they should have placed this one in the S4/RS4 & S5/RS5 Instead?!

@TriHard Cx It's obvious that we're witnessing a new generation of Engeneering and that stuff moves on...there will be no more V8 RS4/RS5s,
there will most likely be no more NA V12s, I mean just look at the SQ7 for example, It looks stunning, It's a diesel, It makes 435HP (V8) *A DIESEL!* + It sounds nothing like a diesel! If you consider the fact that the current gen S5 roughly weighs 115Kg less than newest S6, has a more aerodynamic body and on top of that you get sharper steering with a 2 door coupe body and + you can get it in a convertible version...that would be actually impressive for a V6 Diesel...and It probably make like 40 more HP because of the weight loss so that would be a 450HP (S6's original HP) + around 40HP and you get a nearly 500HP 2 door Audi coupe! It would be more economic since It's a diesel and It would probably sound something as the newest gen S6...maybe not as deep as It's V8 predecessor..but It would make people drop their jaws once they realize It's a diesel...so that would be pretty cool so maybe Audi actually does that...not as bad It sounds once you consider a lot of new things!

A full second? The old S6 sedan does it in 4,4 seconds, the new one does it in 5,1 seconds.
Why the fake sounds? I think audi should know how good v6 tdi sounds with open exhaust..

The co2 emissions are lower than those of a gasoline equivalent and NOx and all those things are arround the same

To be fair, most people that can afford a car like this just want straight line speed and comfort, therefore a diesel does make sense.... For most car people though it wouldn't be an option, but then again most car people can't afford a brand new s6...

U guys are the lucky ones instead of us in Germany you will get the S6 with the 2.9l twinturbo from the rs5. I mean okay it has 100nm less of torque but at least 450hp and it hat a whole lot more of emotions, sound and rpm. My dad works in the automobile industry over here as a development engineer and he told me something about this EV-Turbo a few years ago. Its rumored to be in the upcoming RS6 and RS7 aswell as a 4.0 twinturbo V8 with this electric turbocharger unit. Another rumor says that the performance version of those RS models are getting the hybrid powertrain from the new Porsche Panamera Turbo S hybrid with up to 700hp. Let's see what the future will unveil for us.

0-60 in 5.1 sec.... Pretty sure that's what a 2008 Audi S6 did 0-60 in. At least the US is getting the 2.9L V6 I'll keep my 4.0 twin turbo V8

Having owned an A6 BiTurbo Tdi, which was a quick car, going up to the S6 V8T, it’s a LOT faster and I’m not talking about the official figures. I’m not impressed with the S6 going back to a trumped up BiTdi. It has a lot less power and a fake sound. The V8 sings when you open it and brings a smile to my face every day I drive it. I’m not convinced and actually, really disappointed. Why not the V8T with an electric motor which will help the fuel consumption and add more power?
Probably because of price. That would be in a higher price bracket
Speed Comparer Not really. Once I spec’d up my S6, a similar Spec A6 BiTdi worked out at similar cost. I have most of the extras available on the car. My only choice next time will be the RS6, and that once spec’d, is a lot more expensive. I just hope they don’t mess with that engine other than perhaps adding an electric motor to increase the power

Electric turbo isnt a supercharger
So they gave the car a fake sound system to make it sound more appealing to people who want a sporty car, but they made it diesel which literally no sport-oriented person appreciates. I'm getting mixed signals here.
Supercharger s are belt driven
Technically a supercharger is anything driven from the engine itself and not not exhaust gasses. So this is a hybrid supercharger
