- Queen Mother's Funeral - Two songs are featured: My Home and Mist Covered Mountains.
This video was posted by someone else, but has since been deleted. I re-posted it for your viewing pleasure.
And now at her daughter’s funeral in 2022.
Rip ma’am
I loved when they carried her Majesty out of the church and the bagpipes began.....tears all around. They piped her all the way to heaven.........God love all pipers.
+Mamasan41 My son said the drummers sounded like the ocean.......Lord what wonderful musicians
Yes, that was amazing. I was struck by the transition and found it very moving. As the coffin left the Abby there was this majestic wall of music with such ancient roots greeting it.
wonderful comment you wrote.......
I'm a piper!!! I still have a lot to learn in my playing, but it's such a beautiful instrument! :)
Now it’s her majesty’s funeral 😭😢☹️
Well I was amongst the crowd that day and this event made me proud of my Scottish heritage.the purple colours on her coffin and the pipes and drums made sure this event stuck in my memory.😌
I’ve heard the bagpipes in real life before every Remembrance Sunday and Woody.EXE absolutely nails it when I March beside him to the cenotaph in high heels wearing the longest poppy dress ever. Woody.EXE thinks I’m a true Queen for Wales and I accepted the role when I was just 20. We were officially crowned in July 2023 during my 21st birthday celebrations and still kept my longest dress style on me. What an incredible 18 months this has been for both of us
Gracious Scottish fairwell. The multitude of pipes and drums playing soulfully and beautifully.
A true Scot! A fitting tribute for a true Royal Scottish lady. Xx
She was English.
@@Fernandwinnie She was Scottish. Born and raised in Scotland. A descendent of Robert the Bruce (King Robert I of Scotland).
Only the British could assemble a procession of such dignity to accompany the Queen Mother on her final journey.
effort
One of the most impressive vids I've ever seen or heard. Such a dignity! Love you Brits for this. No one can do this better than you! Majestic and superb! Been all over the world and seen so much but this beats it all. A lump in my throat. Thank you so much!
You're welcome. Practice. Practice. Practice. 👍
@@SteveGad It was absolutely stunning Her Majesty got the send off she deserved.
It was the church bell ringing that got the lump in my throat what a sound that must have been as they passed on by

That simple church bell ringing really catches the back of your throat
Love the massed P&D's, with all the pipes you can still hear the SM's yelling over the top, help they have the lungs of a piper, give them a set of pipes as well.
Yep.
spine tingling sound fit for a queen
3:27 this horse walking in style Just made my day
Walking in time.
A very powerful full toned sound. Thanks!
Nothing more emotional than the pipes
So true from an Englishman
@@markbuckle2222 I 2nd that statement. A fellow Englishman here.
This resonates with every bone in my body and soul
Thank you so much for reposting this. I lost my copy on a computer that crashed and was desperate to find it again. Stunningly beautiful music!
Thank you ... this is what the pipes were created for x
I’ll be having this for my funeral and Wales will be assembled by my beloved 1940 and 1940 would have been with me for 54 years by then
That's some exceptional cover and alignment
Goose bumps
God bless the queen and Britain 🇬🇧
Can't beat pipes to warm cockles of your heart 💖💓
You cannot beat the pipes and drums. 🇬🇧 A UNITED KINGDOM.
This is a funeral wow tears in my eyes
Bravo, génial un grand merci, bonjour à tous et bon jeudi
Iam downloading the bagpipe to use it as ringtone and alarm clock. Very impressive 👍
Incredible.
Thank you very much "again"
Incredible, what a send off
Wonderful tunes
Sebastian Wendel - they are.
@ 3.12 that is my cousin the Queen mothers bat man he stood 7' 5" with out his bear skin on .
Thank you. She was a grand ol dame
The United States had the Old Lion in Theodor Roosevelt and England had Queen Mary the ol Dame
What a magnificent capital city we’ve lost
thanks for posting. These are 2 of my favourite tunes to play at funerals. Lilting but atmospheric
Mist Covered Mountains
What was the second tune?
@@outdooradventuresuk8008 first tune was My Home, second was Mist Covered Mountains
@@juliareadscottishpiperandh4861 thank you 🙏
My grandmother’s cousins dad had a state funeral today after passing away at 97. If only me and Woody.EXE could have been behind the coffin but it was family only. Woody.EXE could have paid a very moving tribute to him
God loves a piper and god has all the best tunes
.....The tune the pipes are playing is called, I believe, "My Misty Mountain Home" and would have been chosen by the Queen Mother herself....Very elegant ceremony and fitting I think for someone who did what she could during the War when London was being smashed by the German blitz....I read an anecdote about her, during the war, she was criticized at some point for getting dressed up, hat, pearls and so on when she and the late King visited the parts of London that had been bomb damaged, there's quite a bit of film about this....she replied that "everyone seems to get dressed up when they visit me so why shouldn't I do the same for others when I visit them".....
The first tune is “My Home in the Hills.” The second tune is “The Mist Covered Mountains of Home.”
I’m here after Queen Elizabeth’s funeral. 🫡💔
Me too 😔
I literally cried
@@nicolelawless9942 I went to see her resting at Westminster Abbey....wow, so emotional
@@darrenclarke3677
Hopefully I’ll be going there in 2023 to see her grave and I’ll show Mummy how I cope with it all
@@nicolelawless9942 Yes me too, I would like to go there and say a final goodbye

Cry God for Harry, England, and Saint George
Beautiful timbre
Zij was er voor ons de marine als een echte mama ja ik mis haar🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
That’s my funeral tune called my home
I mentioned that already.
My mom loved the Queen Mother
She was almost like the mother to the empire a real peoples person and someone Churchill even looked up to
My Home & Mist Covered Mountains
That’s what I said.
Amazing Grace
Judy Dawe - are you saying one of the tunes is “Amazing Grace”?
Oh no that's not what I meant! I think the whole thing Is an example of Amazing Grace
Sorry about that.
You are right. It certainly is an example of it.
Any idea where I can find a similar interpretation of this song? Everything I looked at on UA-cam doesn't sound half as good as this.
Kind regards.
I don't know. I've not heard of a better version myself.
Heard a good version also by regimental pipers on the John Frost Bridge Market Garden Commemoration.
I’m sorry 😐 you won’t find one , this is the best one thanks 🙏🏼 for sharing Tom
Two years late, my friend, but do check this recording: ua-cam.com/video/79qArmhlwzA/v-deo.html
@@costinmicu7721 Never too late :) thanks for the link.
Que privilégio. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Mist Covered Mountains
MVD Vityaz The first tune is My Home. The next is Mist Covered Mountains.
@@taocpa, ok, thanks for your correction mate :)
MVD Vityaz - no problem.
My Home & Mist Covered Mountains.
Rip
Mist Covered Mountains at 1:20
Also played at JFK BURIAL. WHILE BEING CARRIED TO THE GRAVE . NO DRY EYES
Patrick Farrell - the Air Force Pipe Band played only “Mist Covered Mountains”. Still, it’s a very haunting, wonderful tune by itself..
@Cheesy Helmet - no, he was of Irish ancestry.
.
Who was the last Queen of an independent Scotland by the way? :)
I don't know. I don't care, either.
Good......monarchies are anti-people.....profiting off ill gained land and slavery.
Good riddance hah
That would be Queen Anne, surely? Then after 1707 she became Queen of Great Britain.
3tangle3 no idea but Sturgeon is desperate to be the next.
correct!
What’s the name of the tune please
The video's poster commented that the tunes are "My Home in the Hills" and "The Mist-Covered Mountains of Home". The video's description field lists shorter names.
3:10 ..... um .....
What about that part?
@@taocpa lol the super tall guard suddenly marched past
@@heddingite nothing unusual about that, there have been loads of tall people serving in the guards regiments...
Who is screaming in the background?
J.B I’m not sure, but I believe they are shouting marching orders to the procession.
It’s the Sgt Major yelling orders to the Guards to present arms
Orders to the guards.
I think it’s the rag and bone man….although I might be wrong!
This has historical value ...not the likes of William Wallice or Robert the Bruce ..would have approved though ...or the 500 year struggle of the jocks against us English .?.it makes you think..what if things would been different ...
Complete waste of money.
I think you are in a profound disagreement with vast majority.
Now the Queen is reunited with her grandmother Queen Mary, her father King George father, her mother, mother Queen Elizabeth, her sister Princess Margaret and her one true love Prince Phillip. RIP TO ALL
