Yeah same. I don't know if I ever will but a tank filled with these weedy (pioneer) corals with a bunch of non reef safe fish we all want but can't have would be cool.
Totally agree. And honestly, while we would know the difference, would normal people know any difference? Nope. They’d just see corals and super cool ocean fish 🤣
Your foxface is a tank! I stick with LPS in my main display I enjoy it, waiting on 12 nems to come in for my nem tank tho should be cool ill post a vid of when I get them.
@@kalamazoo_reefer yeah I found that if my acans didn't go all red from the light they would start to receed unless I fed them so much that my nutrients would go crazy and I'd have sps problems. It's a tightrope I never figured out. The damn vermitid plague didn't help either. The guy how figures out how to control those will get rich.
@@garyjenson1326 There’s apparently some form of whelk snail that eats them like crazy, but unfortunately, it’s carnivorous and predatory, and once it finishes the vermatids, it’ll take out all your other weaker inverts. Still no silver bullet.
@@rhombifer566 Can’t even imagine it not multiplying. It can’t spawn fast enough on me. And always seems to selectively choose spots nearest to my more expensive corals. I think it has something against me. lol.
This is a very interesting coral (from a scientific perspective) it is hermaphroditic and the eggs are fertilised and hatch inside the coral. The larvae are called planulae and crawl around like sea slugs, settle and grow. It means they are very happy in your tank and think the moon has signalled that is time to spawn. You don't happen to have a yellow coloured/tinted light you use in the same room at night? After hearing how they grow like weeds, I'm going to buy some to add to my tank with the Xenia!
Man everything was going great in my tank and now for the past 3 days the water got cloudy shit hit the fan. Parameters are in check but i have 2 baby tangs 2 baby clown a red angle, 2 shrimps and 3 crabs in a matter of the 4 weeks the tank has been running and it caught up to me.
@@kalamazoo_reefer its 60 gallons. I just put a green killing machine uv sterilizer on it now and put polishing pads in my canister lets see if that helps
@@Coral-reef. I’ve heard mixed results on the Green Killing Machine. Some say it eventually rusts in saltwater. So keep an eye on that. Rust will cause some major problems. But I’m sure you’re dealing with some form of bloom event, and in 48 hours, you should see changes from running a UV.
@@kalamazoo_reefer everything was going great until the day i told you i went to work for 12 hours and forgot to turn the electricity back on after feeding. Since that day everything has been messy. Tomorrow i will also do i water change. Should i ? And how big should i do it ?
@@Coral-reef. I’d roll with at least a 10 gallon water change, 20 gallons if you’re feeling up to it. Your tank is still young. It certainly got derailed by that power outage. Order yourself a UPS battery on Amazon for 50 bucks and connect a cheap powerhead to it. Angle the powerhead at the surface to create surface agitation (to provide oxygenation). Even if it only ran for 5-6 hours, that’s a lot better than 12 hours of dead water.
Interesting video 👍, your Zebrasoma flavescens is awesome ❤.
I also have the Algae of Shame behind the rock work.
Ha! I would need a tall stepladder to reach it. Not doing it. My sea urchin likes to munch on it anyway!

She’s the alpha several times over. Throws that weight around on the daily. Lol. Jealous of the nem project. Definitely want to see that.
Careful I had to "cage" my acans because when my foxface got big he would chew on them.

Wow I have a huge one and it’s never done this
Pray it never does. I feel like some people doubted me in the comments, but just check out some horror stories on Reef2Reef. It’s wild.
They don't do that for everyone
I wish it had not done it for me. It grows like weeds.
My nephew has a huge one for years, never multiplied at all Go figure

How many gallons is the tank again? Can’t recall if you mentioned it before.
