A fascinating discussion! I wonder, to what extent did the shift in how Romans determined senatorial status impact later concepts of feudalism, particularly in Frankish territory? I'm definitely going to check out the book to see if I can find an answer! Great stuff! ❤

There are many overlaps, to be sure, in the shift from late antiquity to the early Medieval period.
