To me that alder body MIC Strat version is so much better than current model. Thats IMHO. I have the 50’s, 60’s and 50’s Tele. So happy I have them. All purchased pre owned.
Squire has really stepped up their game, they are as good as some of the Fenders from the 80's and 90's
I find it crazy how much better the quality of Squier guitars have gotten over the past few years. They can literally hold a candle to some of the higher end Epiphones now.
They’re a great alternative if you don’t wanna shell out the extra few hundred for a player series.
The Classic Vibe series is WAY better than it's supposed to be for the $$$!
Agreed!
They are amazing guitars for the price.
i have the same one, just it was made in 2018, got it in february 2019, got it set up a week ago and it plays like a dream
I just watched a bunch of your videos and you are insanely talented!
Thank you! I really appreciate the kind words.
Ah man, so many sweet bits. Nice one!
Thanks, Peter! Thanks for watching!
I have one just like yours. Best Strat I've ever owned.
dude I love your playing!!
Thank you, Xander!
seems like this is the one to get over the brand new ones
Love that John Mayer Stuff
This was great! I'm excited because I’m about to get my 60’s classic vibe Stratocaster (candy apple red). I’m a big fan of John Mayer and this is going to be my first Strat ever! Your videos playing this guitar definitely got me more excited about it. Great playing, congrats!
Thanks, Javier! Congratulations on your Strat! They’re quality made instruments and will keep you inspired for many years. To further reinforce how amazing these Classic Vibe Squiers are, I’ve owned and played a Fender for almost the entirety of my guitar journey and this Squier was just as good!
@@hanskorn Thank you! It’s great to know that and I’m sure that they’re really good guitars. I also wanted to share that I love the way the headstock looks, I think it reminds me of John’s black1 and signature strat. Can’t wait to finally play it.
strat hack #1 work your way up to playing with 12s if you can or a blend of 11s and 12s works (strats can be fairly thin but a thicker gauge in my opinion makes it sound a little richer.) hack#2 tune down a half step. I got the tuning down a half step from Slash ironically, but then tried it on single coil guitars and it really makes the instrument sing in a different way.
Great demo!
Thanks!
Awesome tone
Thanks, Aaron!
Inspiring!
I've that model In 2015. Aside from the ratio on the tuners that year these are brilliant !!!! I love mine. Had a blue '¹⁹ and loved it too. Wish I kept it. But I'm happy with the 3tone SB like this. Put player series loaded pickguard in mine. It came with cloth wired mitey mites ceramic.
Awesome! I had some minor tuning stability problems with this and the pick ups sounded too muffled at higher drive settings. Those aside, it’s a great guitar for the money and with a few upgrades it can almost keep up with a Fender.
@@hanskorn Agree!!!!!! Sure keeper!!
@@hanskorn then again. You would surely know better by your playing skill. Haah. I'm just in a learning phase moving from drums near 27 years. Hahahah. But man I am in love with it. Hahah
Worn the frets out on mine...
Frets are shaving layers of calluses off my fingertips🤣
It's my #1...so new SS frets are coming 😎👍
Worn frets are a sign of an amazing guitar! SS frets are great! You’re set for life!
Great player Hans
Thanks!
Nice one
Great sound for the money
Agreed!
squier cl vibe 50 or 60 is amazing for its price/sound ! I've got 60th anniversary golden one - just more glass in sound vs american standart... and it costs 500$ vs 1500$
I agree. Incredible value for these instruments. Fraction of the cost, but not fraction of the quality.
That model was from Alder and those of today are made with worse and cheaper woods. I have the same and the same colors and I love it. I didn't change anything, I like those Alnico 5 pickups. Better than Fender Noisless, that lose all the essence of the sound from before.
Oh yeah
Ment to say I have made in the states an the one your playing I think it as good or may be better like the way it plays I think plays better I always say it plays it self 💪😁
I agree! I also own a USA strat and owned a Mexican strat in the past. The quality of these Made In China Squiers have greatly improved! I can notice subtle differences in sound and feel, but still the overall playing experience is just as enjoyable as more expensive guitars.
The problem with the classic vibes is the fret wire wears very fast. And it is not cheap for a re fret or another neck
Nice John Mayer vibe..
Did you take any lessons or are you self taught? Love the way you play 👍🏼
Thanks, Jayden! I learned from UA-cam videos and from playing along with recordings.
Love when people make cheap guitars sound awesome. Great playing!
Thanks, Clint!
Hey man im planning to have the same gear as you
Cause a squier cv 60s and yamaha thr is more than enough for me
They’re great pieces of gear. You won’t be disappointed!
Nice and stratty
For me, it’s pretty much a strat at heart! Only thing missing is the big Fender logo!
@@hanskorn they are great guitars. I really like the classic vibe series. Enjoy it !
One question, I always use the Yamaha cabinet in clean sound in the THR and not others. Could you tell me if other sounds are better because it has a very low volume if you don't turn up the Gane.
The other amps sound great as well especially when you adjust the cabinet type to taste. Lately, I’ve been using it on the Clean setting since it takes drive pedals well from my Boss GT1. I turn up the gain about halfway, which is loud enough for practice at room volume.
Hey just wanted to let you know that i listen to it quite often even though i know it’s a sample for the sound.
If you don’t mind, can you tell me how you set your amp when you play lenny?
I’ve got almost identical gears(only difference is that my strat was made in 2015 and that my amp ist thr30)
But it seemed rather difficult to get the tone you were playing with.
Thanks for the great play!
Nevermind. I was pretty sure that i’m not the only one who craves your tone and looking at comments then i found it!
Hi! I'm thinking of getting this guitar, but I'm curious: how do the pickups compare to something like the Silver Sky SE? I'm a fan of how "tubby" the neck pickup sounds on the SE Silver Sky, how would you describe this one's neck and neck + mid pickup sound?
In my opinion, they sound similar and any minute difference can be compensated with EQ on the amplifier. I suggest trying both guitars in person and seeing which one feels better to you in terms of comfort and tonal response. If I were to pick though, I'd go for the SE Silver Sky for the modern trem and lack of string trees for improved tuning stability.
Hope that helps!
@@hanskorn thanks for the reply! thats very interesting. ill definitely try it out now.
I hear some Gravity, and at the end I believe Lenny by John mayer. What are you playing at 1:18? It sounds like Joe bonamassa. Nice playing by the way.
Yeah, good ear! Thanks! I was just improvising some blues licks at 1:18. Thanks for watching!
Lenny was actually originally made by Stevie ray Vaughn who was John Mayers biggest influence in his playing. If you haven't already I recommend riviera paradise and Texas flood by SRV. He really was the best at blues.
I have visited before and some reason my sub didn't take. I hope it's fixed. Anyway I was doing a review of mine a while back. Someone was saying I was wrong about the materials. Maple neck/Rosewood with Alder body. They claimed it was poplar or NATO. I corrected them with the 2020s 19s yes maybe but not the 15 or earlier. Am I wrong?
Here’s a detailed page that covers the specs of the Classic Vibe ‘60s Strat. It states that rosewood was used until 2017, then Indian Laurel from 2018 onward.

Dude!! Where did you sign your deal with the 2-horn man??
Just lots of practice!
@@hanskorn Practice? Never heard of that place before
Does it have a thinner body compares to the newer indonesian classic vibe 60's strat
Not really sure, but most likely they are similar since they’re both from the same Classic Vibe product line.
Absolutely beautiful.
Which string are those? Name and gauge please. 😁👍
Thanks! In this video, I used the strings installed by the previous owner, so I’m not sure what they were. They might have been stock or factory strings.
Thanks. The juicy joy of a strat is the neck pickup. Jimi says…
Did you sand down the guitar neck or did you leave it right as it is?
I left it as is.
Where exactly did you buy this? i want one so bad
Local Facebook Marketplace
Is the guitar stay well in tune ?? or get out of tune easy ?
It stays in tune well.
Can you please tell me what gadgets do you use, like amp, pedals/processor?
From the guitar, it goes into a Boss GT1 multi-effects pedal then into a Yamaha THR10 II desktop amplifier.
@@hanskorn wow, was that GT1, I thought it would have been something more expensive. But I suppose, anything is good if you can play!
I try to make the most of what I have. I prefer gear like this since it’s so easy to just plug, play, and practice. For me, the best piece of gear is the one that inspires you to play more!
@@hanskorn do u have Instagram? I would like to connect with you there.
What’s the name of the song that starts at 2:40?
“Lenny” originally by Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble, but I improvised and combined it with John Mayer’s version from the “Any Given Thursday” concert.
@@hanskorn thanks bro keep shredding
any pedal? A mayer fan too I see ;)
No pedals. Straight into the amp for this video.
Just got an Indonesian one and it sucks so much. The difference in quality is huge. Completely unusable trem so I'm now deciding whether to block it or return the guitar entirely because I really wanted a vibrato bridge on this one. Also the upper strap screw hole was stripped from the factory so it'll need to be plugged and re drilled.
Oh man, that’s unfortunate. I tried an Indonesian one before and it was fine. Maybe you were just unlucky and received a faulty model. If it’s causing many problems from the start, it might be a good idea to just return it and get something else.
I picked up a 2021 indonesian made Squier CV strat a few months ago, and I absolutely love mine. Totally stock too.
I have a ama nm

Question. How is the tuning? Planning to get one.

Stays in tune relatively well, however 1 divebomb will send it out of tune.
@@hanskorn this may sound stupid but I’m a guitar noob. Wdym by dive bomb?
@@Budd1234 Divebombing is a technique that can be performed by depressing the tremolo/whammy bar as close as possible to the guitar body. It’s called a dive bomb because the sound created resembles a war plane dive bombing in battle. Notable users of this technique are Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen among many others especially during the 80s Hair Metal/Shred era.
@@hanskorn That kind of bridge isn't supposed to be dive bombed. But you know that.
It's horrible.
