Sounds great! While stock exhaust already has 3" all the way, I feel like it's over restricted in the muffler itself in an effort to keep exhaust note down and save $$$ not using valvtronic system like Ranger Raptor. Not much to upgrade front side due to limited aftermarket. The AFE intake sounds cool, but the only real upgrade on that end of the turbo currently is the AEV snorkel. The new ZR2 is such a good platform, it doesn't need much if I'm being honest. Love for someone like Banks to make upgraded plumbing for everything between the intake and turbo would be a dream. People sleep on those kinds of addons because they don't advertise added power lol.
Yes I agree with the money savings. I would love for someone to come out with upgraded intake piping but utilizing the stock air box. Maybe one day a company will realize it could work.
@@outlandishoverland Think I saw a teaser of stillen or someone doing R&D on 4th gen tacoma intake that builds in the option to marry to the new tacoma's snorkel if installed. That'd be nice. Did a little digging, and looks like afe actually released hot & cold charge pipes for 3rd gen colorado/canyon 2.7L.
I have the same exhaust in my ZR2 and while I don’t think it did anything for horsepower, it feels like the turbo spools just a touch faster. I had to adjust my Banks Pedal Monster down a couple notches to compensate.
@@Tetz95 Yeah, the only mod with significant gains on that end would be downpipe with or without high flow cat. Nevertheless, the cat-backs seem to be doing a good job freeing up stress on the turbo.
This exhaust sounds great. A lot better than the MBRP that I have on my Colorado. The drone is so bad between 1500-3000 rpm’s, after you get above 55mph. Being in western Ohio I don’t think I could survive a trip out west to go wheeling after listening to my exhaust.
Yeah I had done a ton of research before hand and pulled the trigger on the AFE. Now, even after a road trip and about 1,000 miles and still love it. No noticable drone. Only drones slightly when going up steeper inclines.
@@c_haines Weird. I have the full MBRP system on mine and while there can be a small bit of drone with windows all down at very low rpms, it all but goes away when windows go up. It seems to have decreased as the system has gotten more mileage on it too. I don't even notice it anymore. And it has zero drone on highway or at speed.
@@swimster144 They seemed to think it had to do with the fact that I have a lift and bigger wheels, so they thought the engine is working harder. I had even tried a more restrictive muffler from them as well. The issue isn’t when accelerating, it’s really just driving at a constant speed between 1500-3000.
Can you do me a huge favor and tell me the weight of the old exhaust and the new system? Thinking this could help me lose some pounds for adding a camper!
I actually did weigh them but for time sake cut that out of the video. The difference is about 7lbs lighter with the AFE Exhaust over the stock exhaust. This is with a bathroom scale so it could be off a few pounds but those were my findings.
The stock exhaust note of the ZR2 is really the only underwhelming thing about the truck, and this looks like it might fix that. I'll be interested to see what your thoughts are of it after a couple thousand miles.

Good vid 👍🏼✌🏼
I want those tail lights
Thanks! They will be out sometime next year!
Sounds awesome. Are your tow hooks and emblem color stock? Mine are red.
Thanks! Mine were red as well. I painted the tow hooks and bow tie myself.
Hi. New to your channel. The Richard in your videos…is it Richard Corbett by chance? Just wondering. I’m a big fan.
It is indeed Richard Corbett.
Wow! That’s fantastic! He’s been an inspiration to a lot of people.
I look forward to your future adventures!

@@outlandishoverlandI may just have to cut my losses and order this. I had to rig the factory resonator into it just to make a little reasonable.

I've had it about 1,000 miles so far and still loving it and adds such a nice tone to the truck.
From the video, it sounds very similar to stock; does it really sound deeper/better IRL?
Yes it does. It's not a massive difference but it is very much noticable deeper tone and slightly more sound over stock.
