@@davediamond7228 Not the same but just as great. As a Pittsburgher who grew up during their reign I can tell you that Jimmy was considered THE Skyliner and the rest were a part of his group. Few people even knew Janet's name at the time. That being said, her single "Another Night Alone" with backing by the Skyliners is a forgotten classic.
It doesn't matter!!! This new group at least keep the memories of that fantastic era of love romantic songs bring tremendous memories of my teen age years listening to these beautiful outstanding songs with such sublime harmonies!!!!! I should know cause I tried to imitate them ...I love to sing and u applaud 👏 ✌️ the substitutes but still they sound terrific !!!!!
I’ve loved the Skyliners since in high school. Their song “This I Swear” is on my iHeart radio playlist in my car. Listen to it each time I drive anywhere ❤️❤️
Donna was with The Skyliners for many years. All others are new members. Evidently Donna can't hit the soprano parts like she once did giving the Skyliners that Unique Sound. Lead does Jimmy ( GOD REST HIS SOUL) JUSTICE by keeping his sound intact. The only group that was equal to Pittsburgh's Skyliners is New York's- The Dimensions ( Lenny Dell passed Sept 19 21 from Covid) GOD REST HIS SOUL He was equal to Jimmy. Robin Roberts equal to Marrisa Martelli ( Original Soprano Voice) 2 Classic Dimensions songs - Over The Rainbow & My Foolish,Heart. Jimmy along with Lenny missed and loved by Doo-Wop fans and live on thru their Music . SOME WHERE OVER THE RAINBOW LENNY & JIMMY MAKE THE HEAVENLY CHOIR SWEETER. 🎙🎤🎙🎤🎧🎶🎶🎵📻🕇🌷🕇🌷💕🕊
I'm blessed to have worked on two of the WQED "America's Music Series" PBS specials, while I was under contract to WNJN/WNJS, and WHYY. Those specials would have never come to fruition without Donna's organizational prowess; and BTW, she's one of a very few in the entertainment realm that is as nice in person as their public persona is portrayed.

I loved The Skyliners since the 60s when I first seen him in East New York and liberty Avenue they were always one of my favorite groups God bless them
Superb singers, no doubt. Loved it. I just wish the the audio gave them the justice they deserve. Nevertheless, despite the audio echo, you can tell the lead singer, male and female, are like wow and wow ... beautiful voices ... and the group, on whole, produced such wonderful harmonies.
Though the original members are deceased, this lineup is licensed as The Skyliners. The current lineup is Eric Bruce, Jim Gregorakis, John Sarkis and the female singer in this performance is Donna Groom. She has been with the group since 1980.
Look how long she has been singing these parts though... She was a Skyliner just as long as Janet Vogel, if not longer.. There's some vids on here of four of the origjnal Skyliners in the 70's, and Janet herself couldn't quite reach all those notes that she sang years prior either!
I have always enjoyed Jimmy Beaumont & the Skyliners. This group did a great job reproducing the music but I do believe that for whatever reason the band - at times- oover welmed the vocalists. I played & sang for over 63 years and wouldn't let my group play over the vocalists. However I did enjoy the rendition.
Ok they're not originals but they hot the blessing and hell , The lead sounds better than Jimmy did after 1989 , Jimmy had battled some problems and did not sound the same .
Neither did Jimmy.... Haven't you seen some live vids of Jimmy from the past 20 or 30 years?? Not to mention that Jimmy was YOUNG when he recorded these songs! If you're not a singer, then you truly don't understand.
Got the privilege of hosting a show with the Skyliners back in 1990. Donna was just a kid then. ( well a sexy young lady) She has such an angelic voice. I love when Jimmy handed off the stage to her to do that iconic ending. It's so appropriate that she,an accomplished musican is out there and still the greatest s 19:11 oprano ever. Her leads are just spot on also. Just keep on going Donna.....
Can’t hit Jimmy’s high notes but yet very good. And Donna is awesome.
the Skyliners, jimmy Beaumont and their music will live forever!!!
Blessings and continued success to you. Donna, your bandmates, and you did your old colleagues and Dionne proud. R.I.P. to the great Jimmy Beaumont.
So glad to see Donna carrying on with this American institution, truly one of the best of their time
but not the same as Janet Vogel...

I really hate negative talk about revival groups. God bless Donna for keeping the group together.
That's what I say there was a time I hated phoney groups but with all of them dying someone needs to carry on their legacy

Fantastic Thank God Donna has kept the Skyliners alive They sound great and are a wonderful testament to Jimmy Beaumont
Come on everyone, they are keeping the group alive. There will never be another group like the originals but its still nice to hear them.
Theyre good, but none are the original members. Still, brings back memories.
Really good...and really good to see the legend kept alive.

Do you have any knowledge of access to any of the specials that were produced on the Internet? I'd love to watch them again. Thanks 👍

i saw this version of the skyliners a year ago and they were great !
I loved The Skyliners since the 60s when I first seen him in East New York and liberty Avenue they were always one of my favorite groups God bless them
What a great song.

They were the BEST...

Janet Vogel left way to soon !
Cathy Cooper was Jan’s first replacement.
She could not hit the high note like the originals Skyliners.

DONNA GROOM IS THE BEST.
この曲は映画のアメリカングラフィティーで初めて聞きました。それ以来大好きな曲です!
やっぱスカイライナーズサイコーですね~👍

The Skyliners are super cool.
The drummer's performance is so cool!
Of course, everyone's performance is great!
From Japan
Ok they're not originals but they hot the blessing and hell , The lead sounds better than Jimmy did after 1989 , Jimmy had battled some problems and did not sound the same .
Adorable Donna, qué mujer y gran cantante.
Que emoción escucharlos y más saber que están con nosotros... Dios me los bendiga
Like Picasso and The Beatles and Beethoven, songs like this will live forever. I know. I grew up listening to it on the radio....live.
Are any of these guys associated with original Skyliners? Woman can't be Janet Vogel and does not appear to be Donna Groom!
What a special treat!, Thank you so much for this upload...Great memories with each cover song...
The need to turn up the volume on Donna's mike is a must , especially on her harmonies ..
Boy did she nail Dionne Warrick. Nice.
Background usually was too loud……
Sorry. Lead singer doesn't have that smooth wonderful heavenly sound that jimmy had
Neither did Jimmy.... Haven't you seen some live vids of Jimmy from the past 20 or 30 years?? Not to mention that Jimmy was YOUNG when he recorded these songs! If you're not a singer, then you truly don't understand.
I don't care, it's live. Way better than listening to Guns and Roses' version ...
Música lindíssima o grupo canta muito parabéns bom recordar ao passado ê viver a vida no presente
Memories….. sweet memories
This was really music too bad is all gone.
This was this year
Well of course they're not the original since their all dead. You're so smart.
l think they did a great job!!.. These songs are just timeless!! RIP Jimmy Beaumont! Also listen to the Skyliners "Lonely Way">
